Gardener & Thomas
"Propaganda"
Released 5.11.01
Cat No.PB3008

The Satellite / Pitch Black camp are proud to deliver another phenomenal piece from the now infamous duo, Dave Gardener & Michael Thomas a.k.a. Blackwatch. These two have created such a huge buzz with their first project, 'Primitive side', its no wonder that champions like Nick Warren, Quivver, and Hybrid have been great supporters. The second installment may be better yet. The selective truth mix is a dark, and deceptive mind altering track that will twist and turn your soul with its crisp and tight production. This soon to be classic has been favored by the likes of Quivver who is featuring 'Propoganda' on his new Transport compilation. The flipside offers a more straight and direct approach driven by nasty beats and insane swirls, hence 'Dubaganda'. Its comparible to any favored current track but second to none.

Osiris
"East To West"
Released 5.11.01
Cat No.RHYSYN014

This track is in much demand and has been one of Rhythm Syndicate's most requested tracks of 2001. The track has been constructed and co-produced by Renaissance resident and favourite Nigel Dawson and Andy Holt of Tarrentella and Redanka fame. It is a firing progressive trance track, which showcases the tougher side of the progressive market. Although first played at the tail end of last year by the big prog DJs, it was its appearance on the Live Radio One Broadcast on New Years Eve 2000 mixed by Sasha that has caused a furore and sparked major interest.

Phonogenic
"Nightwatch"
Released 5.11.01
Cat No.VIS069

Phonogenic is the name chosen by Tuomas Salmela to take his sound to the big systems and large rooms of the global clubbing community. Having made his name with 5 releases on 2020 Vision and his recent release on Guidance, Tuomas takes things one step further with this, his second, Phonogenic bomb. Tuomas is from Finland and is best friends with F-Comm recording artist, Jori Hulkkonen. Now with the skills to move out of his fellow countryman's shadow, Tuomas is truly coming into his own as a producer. As always with Tuomas, whether recording as Phonogenic or under his own name, it's his unique combination of quirky sounds, obscure vocal samples and gut-wrenching basslines that come into play. DJ Sasse from Mood Music takes on the remix duties, and he's come up with a tasty little groover for the deeper floors you might wanna groove at. Limited test pressings have been doing the rounds of this huge club track, and when Layo & Bushwacka, Fred Everything, Tyler T Bone Stadius and Ralph Lawson (who played it first at Fabric) are playing it at peak hours, you know you're onto a winner. This one has been doing it all summer in Ibiza on the terrace at Space, the irony of which is not lost on the frosty-fingered Finn who made it. While Tuomas was burning everything he owned just to stay warm in his sub-zero studio, the seeds were sown for him to lay down another storming track.

Ferry Corsten
"Dance Valley Theme 2001"
Released 5.11.01
Cat No.TSU6032

Ferry Corsten has been at the forefront of the Dutch dance scene for many years with his biggest success under the guise of System F. His first release 'Out Of The Blue' was a huge club record and went on to be signed in the UK by FFRR and achieve a top 10-chart position. His latest release is a tribute to Holland's dance valley party and was adopted as this year's theme. Dance Valley was attended by 90000 clubbers from across the globe and featured the worlds top DJs. This theme is slightly tougher than previous tracks but still incorporates all Ferry's trademark hooks and height of the night basslines. Once again this is set to grace the sound systems of the UK's leading clubs with great effect. On the flip is an unreleased treat called 'Mode Confusion' from Ferry's forthcoming album.

Moshik
"Panic System"
Released 5.11.01
Cat No.PLM3002

Being hailed by high profile DJs as "Israel's best kept secret", Moshik will be known for his upcoming releases on Bedrock, Plastica and Pitchblack. 'Panic System' is the sound of today. The track consists of deep throbbing drums and an endless assortment of magical and mind altering effects that draw appeal from house and progressive lovers alike. The rough and mean beats are well complimented with an ethereal ethnic vocal that can set any mind at ease and evokes a feeling of ancient desert mysteries. Imagine a melting pot of deep swirling effects and incomprehensible sounds that make you cringe your face with curiosity and you'll barley skate the surface of the breakdown.

Joy Kitikonti
"Joyenergiser"
Released 5.11.01
Cat No.BXRPA0347 / BXRPB0347 / BXRPC0347

Originally 'discovered' by the tank-top trance master in Miami when he played alongside Mauro Picotto, the track has gone on to be one of his signature tunes for the summer of 2001. His fervent support of the track lead to plays on his Radio One show for eight weeks running including the prestigious 'Tried & Tested' slot. It also appeared on his 'Dirty Half-Dozen' page in June's Mixmag as one of the tunes to watch for during the forthcoming festival and Ibiza season. Media-wise, a call from Mixmag's hard house reviewer in June cemented our opinion of the track: Dave Cross said that for the first time ever, he had been instructed by the Editor to make 'Joyenergizer' single of the month! This was an unprecendented step for any editor to make, and it appeared as number one in the 'To Buy' in August's edition. To complement the legendary original mixes, Mauro Picotto has turned in a trade-mark techno monster and there are more to come.

Phat grooves, badass bass and twisted loops are the order of the day as we prepare for some bouncy bedlam yellow stylee! The first instalment of this twisted mayhem sank its teeth into Judge Jules' earlobe and just wouldn't let go! A 'tried & tested' record on his show and spins for 5 weeks running meant that the nation now knows the power of the yellow nukleuz funk - so be very afraid. Champion Burns are celebrating the success of their first release on Eric Morillo's Subliminal Records.

"Vital release, sweet as honey" - Muzik Magazine

Paul Glazby & D Intervention
"Locked Up"
Released 5.11.01
Cat No.VCR008

This is the second collaboration for this duo (their first being the debut release for Recharge Records) and what a result. A full-on NRG work out with a breakdown you're unlikely to forget in a hurry and the Steve Thomas remix on the flipside is a perfect compliment to the original, going more for a trancey groove. There are more than a few people saying Steve Thomas is the producer of the year! The original mix has been licensed to The Tidy Girl's 'Annual', appearing on the Anne Savage disc.

The 16 Million Dollar Man
"The Witch Equation"
Released 5.11.01
Cat No.UTCCD007 / UTCLP007

The 16 Million-Dollar Man is one of the many alter egos of Omid Nourizadeh. The Putney based producer has recorded under a variety of aliases, the most renowned being his 16B moniker under which he recorded the classic deep house album 'Sounds from Another Room'. He also records as Changing Shape (for Hooj tunes deeper offshoot Airtight), Phaser (for his own Disclosure imprint) and ORN (for Deconstruction). Each pseudonym represents a very different style of music, but 16 Million-dollar Man is the dark horse. You'll find him twisting the dance floor with full-on drug-crazed machines and whipping crowds into a frenzy with his mixture of pounding bass and rapid-fire beats. When the 16 Million-Dollar Man is around, things get very messy indeed. This is a stunning collection of electronic music that highlights Nourizadeh as one of dance music's most innovative and versatile producers.

Track Listing:

1) On The Last Day
2) Way Back
3) Siriusex
4) Man With The Voice
5) In The Depth Of It All
6) Do You Understand
7) Pink Yo Black

Mezz
"Cubism"
Released 5.11.01
Cat No.NEBT022

This track, originally available on Sunkissed Records, is a collaboration between head honcho Bill Hamel and Simon Noble (1/2 of Breeder.) The original mix is a timeless progressive classic that still sounds fresh and is a journey into sound, hammered by Sasha, Digweed and Oakenfold and was one of the more cutting edge tracks from the tail end of the 90s. Already a fixture in many DJ boxes, the track has been updated by the ever reliable Praha.

Weirdo
"I Know A Plaice"
Released 5.11.01
Cat No.RIB051

Weirdo really needs no introduction these days. This is his tenth release on Tinrib and he has lost none of his distinctive flavour. For November 2001 the Trance-Master serves up a platter of two juicy hard trance cuts to make you drool like only he can. Weirdo has slowed the tempo down (well by his standards anyway) for a more accessible cut. Killer hands-in-the-air chords get ripped up with one big fat mutha of a synth line. Whack it up full for maximum effect!

Stratosphere
"Thin Air"
Released 5.11.01
Cat No.PLATE12007

Blueplate Recordings is the label of US and international DJ Mark Picchiotti who, over the years, has been responsible for some of the biggest club Anthems. Absolute's 'Saturday Night' (AM/PM) and Bass Toy's 'Running' (NEO) to name a couple. Stratosphere sees a tougher edged club track being created with enough energy to hold any dance floor during the peak hours. The Sagittarius mix is slightly sparser, but again all the hallmarks of a Picchiotti production are there.

Blackout
"Dark Rhythms Vol.2"
Released 5.11.01
Cat No.EP1203

Hot on the heels of the brilliant 'Dark Rhythms Vol 1', Blackout give us two more of dance music's finest moments. There is no holding back with this follow up 12", both 'Infinity' and 'Drumatrix' being highly produced hard house future classics. 'Infinity' is the builder that is set cause the most damage with its infectious hook & stabs. The track is solid and leading, and is the essence of a peak time monster. On the flip, the vocal lead ' Drumatrix' is another huge peak timer. With its killer piano riff, this really puts the whole weekend activities into perspective. The new national anthem for Saturday Night.

Dan Morris & Shylock
"Cherokee"
Released 5.11.01
Cat No.MECH006>

Mechanism brings you Dan Morris & Shylock from Salt Lake City, USA. The guys have signed their first single 'Lean' to the excellent US underground label Silver Pearl. The A-Side 'Original Peace Pipe Dub' is a deep underground mood setter with twisted sounds and effects layed over a groovy, funked up bassline. The Darko & Gainer mix goes for a dark, progressive groove, which compliments the original mix well.

Paul Gaarn
"Inhale"
Released 5.11.01
Cat No.TELICA34

On the main side 'Inhale' sports shuffling breaks, weird synth squelches, eerie vocals and suggestive samples, and they all come together to form a powerful groove background to some wonderfully suggestive string washes. 'Squatters' on the flip uses even more suggestive samples and to the faster groove Pablo adds metallic synth lines and haunting effects. After a first subtle breakdown the groove kicks back in with an added melodic strings effect and a further breakdown finally kicks the track into touch for the grand finale..Plays and support from Tom Harding (who has included 'Squatters' in his next Dance Valley comp) and John "00" Fleming who is set to include 'Squatters' in the next 'God's Kitchen' compilation and 'Inhale' in his forthcoming mixed compilation for Euphoria.

12" Thumpers
"Drop It"
Released 5.11.01
Cat No.THM027

The track 'Drop It' was originally released about 18 months ago, the 8th release on Thumpers. It was a big success for the boys and it sounds like they have dropped a winner again. The Chris & Sy remix has all the frisky elements in the track, a huge wobbling bass line with wicked stabs and percussion and super low band pass filter riffs. Using the original sample but with new depth. After the filtered break down the track pounds back in again with furious stab patterns and vocal samples. The U.H.T. remix is slightly different: having decided to not use the original riff, only the vocal sample "Drop It" the track takes a different route from the Frisky remix. Very tight percussion, very dark riffs and a very low frequency bass line, guaranteed to shake the foundations.

Jas
"Carnival House EP"
Released 5.11.01
Cat No.SAW004

Prepare your body and mind for this next Saw Recordings release. Both tracks, 'Dirty Carnival Music' and 'Belly' are not only heard but felt. The response has been overwhelming and positive and 'Belly' has already been licensed to the new Parks & Wilson mix CD as well as John Creamer & Stephan K's Ministry compilation. John Digweed showered his Kiss FM audience with both A and B sides and it is safe to say that he has included these jaw-dropping tracks in all of his recent sets. This is one of those rare releases in which both sides will receive much attention and this is only the beginning of the remarkable talent Phil Jason (Jas) is.

George T
"Some Lunar Pursuits EP"
Released 5.11.01
Cat No.UTC024

At the tail end of 1997, on an unknown label called Quality Control, George T released one of the tunes of the year. 'Real Deal Party Feel' was an instant hit with DJs across the world. Main players like DJ Sneak, Derrick Carter and Ian Pooley were all hammering his hard-ass funky groove. As well as being one of the capital's main crowd-pulling DJs (mainly at his massively successful Tribal Funktion club) George had already established himself as one of Scotland's leading producers with his solid releases on NRK and Stickmen. This, however, was the twelve that really put him on the map. Since then, George has stuck to solely releasing 12" DJ food. Here, Under The Counter present four of Mr. T's latest dancefloor creations. 'Baby' is first out the box with a rock solid, horn tootin' filtered affair. The kind of record you'd expect to hear when you're checking out Derrick Carter or DJ Q. 'Lunar Pursuits' offers a more laid-back groove mixing up wah-wah splashes and staccato 909 hats. 'Bass Chase' is the cut for the break heads and its combination of dark bass patterns and funky beats has already featured heavily on the Jengaheads show on Glasgow's Beat 106. Finally 'Piano Dub' checks in with a five-minute workout that sounds like Ralph Falcon's 'Every now and then' got lost in the studio with George's spacey analogue hits.

Black Powder
"Mosaferat"
Released 5.11.01
Cat No.BBR006

If you ever happen to be in Copenhagen you should stop by at 'Very Disco' on Wednesdays, which is the best new club in town run by DJ Nima and Thomas Madvig the guys behind Black Powder. Nima's 17 years of making music + Madvig's 15 years in the music industry (hosting MTV, Radiostations and DJing) has brought their label Welt Recordings to the world. Welt's first release Black Powder's 'Gonna Fox Ya'll' sold out, mostly in US, and the next release 'Advocado Beats All' is currently being distributed all over the world. We asked them to do a couple of deeper tracks for BBR and they delivered these two excellent groovers: the first 'Mosaferat' with a weird poem breakdown written and voiced by one of their friends Vladimir a solo ballet dancer at the Royal Danish Ballet. The B- side 'Jangal' is one of those tracks that just put you in the best of moods when your on the dance floor: nice and simple, yet with a beat that keeps the pace and with a cool breakdown. As usual these tracks have been properly floor tested, this time by King Unique: "The Black Powder thing is great, I really love it. Who does all those things? they sound really great..."
