Automagic "Do You Feel" Released 8.9.03 Cat No. 003BUZZ
A1 - Do You Feel? (Main mix)
A2 - Do You Feel? (A Capella)
B1 - Do You Feel? (Rocco Additive mix)
B2 - Do You Feel? (Automagic Late Late dub)
It is rare these days to hear such an evocative and moving lyric on the dancefloor, but we are rolling one out on this. Deep, serene yet tough and featuring the emotive vocals of Aswan, it strips the dancefloor down to its basics, and is fat, rocking club music at its most plangent and direct. Original writers and producers, New York's Automagic provide the classic, pulsing Main mix, with scattershot drums and electro-infused analogue chords underpinning the bittersweet vocal. On the flip, Rodamaal's Franco-Portuguese man-of-the-moment DJ Rocco turns in a remix rich in tenderness and drama that will rinse out any floor in the low part of the night. DJ summer essentials come in the form of an A capella and dub too. Modern music for the soul.

Backtrack "Like A Drug" Released 8.9.03 Cat No. BIN013
A - Like A Drug
B - Like A Drug (Freeloader mix)
Yet again Binary return with an absolutely massive floor filler. Massive drums, massive bass and a wicked spoken vocal to top things off. It starts with tight percussion, building through spacey effects and that smooth vocal. Pounding drums lead the way, through an onslaught of bass, the lead riff and some mental effects. Crazy, crazy stuff which is guaranteed to do serious damage on the floor. The A-Side is a wicked, house groove with tinges of electro throughout and that vocal working nicely over the top. Flipped by Freeloader's deeper, more progressive interpretation. Licensed to 'Sound of Renaissance' (SUMMER 2003).

B - Step Up (Inside Your Mind)
A side, Step Up, is hard and dark UK hard house for the underground floors. This is huge wherever played. The AA, Inside Your Mind takes it back underground. Classic UK hard trance, Bunter & Doe style.

Carl Cox "Space Calling" Released 8.9.03 Cat No. C23004
A - Space Calling
B - T-Bone On The Mix (Trevor Rockliffe mix)
The next instalment on Carls new 23rd Century label celebrates the monster success of Carls 'Carl Cox and Friends' 2003 Tuesday Space residency and pays homage to the uniqueness of the worlds favourite club day / night club. This is the warmer side of Coxys production and evokes memories of a long hot summer days and nights on the legendary Ibizan terrace. The original mix skillfully blends funked up guitars with Latin rhythms and a driving bass line. Synthesised barks add the only allusion to vocals as the tri deck wizard mixes in wailing sirens and a blissfully percussive breakdown will have them rushing straight from the airport to secure their place on the terrace. With 'T-Bone On The Mix' Carl employs the services of Trevor Rockliffe who strips things down with a heavy pulsating bass line that relentlessly attacks, leaving you in no doubt that it will become a late night favourite for those who prefer the dark secrecy of Spaces inner sanctum. The track is licensed to a Sunday Star cover mount CD.

DJ Dero "Revolution 07" Released 8.9.03 Cat No. 0550PNUK
A - Revolution 07 (Robbie Rivera Bangin' remix)
B1 - Revolution 07 (Electrolatino mix)
B2 - Revolution 07
A Judge Jules 'Tried and Tested' record that has been signed in from Argentinean label Oid Mortales. Tough electro disco at its best from South Americans number 1 DJ Dero, taken from DJ Deros 7th Album entitled Revolution 07. The 12 features 3 top class mixes that are guaranteed to rock any dance floor. Robbie Rivera delivers the goods with a tough driving remix that has been played on Radio 1 by Judge Jules 7 times. With support also coming from Seb Fontaine, Tall Paul and Sister Bliss on white label, this is seriously hot vinyl that is going to be massive this summer.
|
Gazor "Overlight" Released 8.9.03 Cat No. MR018
A - Overlight
B - Overlight (Blue Haze mix)
Gazor (Panoptic, Cardboard and Blue Haze) returns to Minimal following his recent outstanding track 'Surface' under his Panoptic guise. 'Overlight' is a cool, lush summer groover, in trademark Gazor style. Both mixes fit perfectly as either warm up or midset tracks. The A-Side mix is a chunky, percussive houser, with deep bass and smooth chords. As always its full of emotion and feeling, and sounds fantastic on the floor. Flipped by the Blue Haze remix, which seems to be the mix which everyone is going mad about. Currently being hammered by Sander Kleinenberg, James Zabiela and Jon Marsh, this mix opts for a slightly cooler groove, on a tip similar to early Weekend World material.

Klaus Heavyweight Hill "Techno Tune" Released 8.9.03 Cat No. MOB023
A - Techno Tune
B - The Popstar
This is one of the most talked about records on the breaks scene at the moment. From a handful of CDRs given to Tayo, Meat Katie, Freq Nasty, BLIM and Rennie Pilgrem, the word is that Klaus 'Heavyweight' Hill has found his style. Tough enough for the heavy breaks fans and deep enough for the tech heads, it was played three times at Fabric recently to a massive reception. Techno Tune is also one of the only breaks records house DJs such as Danny Howells and John Digweed are playing at the moment. It has also been licensed to Destination Australia, mixed by Meat Katie.

Scott Mac pres. De-Progression & AJ Gibson "Twilight" Released 8.9.03 Cat No. TCOM025
A - Twilight
B - Twilight (AJ Gibson & Mickey Rowland remix)
Licensed back in December of last year, it's an enormous slice of distinctly summery trance. Alongside the sublime original, AJ Gibson & studio partner Mickey Roland get busy with a more straight down the line euphoric remix. Much more is to come, however. Jelle Mac Zimms Faber has brought in a huge revamp and with Woody Van Eyden & M.O.R.P.H. (ID&T) mixes (through the license to Germanys Clubbgroove records) will follow on a separate 12.

Jackin house music with a big vocal. Definetely aimed towards the housier dancefloors.

Bobby Peru "Jack 2 The Future" Released 8.9.03 Cat No. VIS092
A - Left Brain
B1 - Right Brain
B2 - Brain-A-Pella
Pete Tong has already been playing this on the essential selection and has licensed it to his Ibiza 2003 Trust the DJ compilation. Damian Lazarus was also given a copy in Ibiza and is including it on the next City Rockers Futurism compilation. 'Left Brain' is an awesome electro house anthem in the classic 2020 style. Bobbys drum programming is bordering on the obscene, flipping some classic Linn drum sounds into the future and racking them up with a squelchy analogue bassline and some super cool Detroit atmospherics. Derrick May would probably say it sounded like Bootsy Collins and Kraftwerk stuck in a lift! 'Right Brain' takes the 'Left Brain' blueprint, adds Marshall Jeffersons classic vocals from 'Move Your Body' into the mix and takes an already amazing tune to the next level. Watch the crowd go mad when the vocals drop.. satisfaction guaranteed. This is the essential update on the Chi-town house classic. Then for all the creative DJs out there is the 'Brain-A-Pella': a 3 and a half minute bass and pads out-take which Ralph Lawson has using to great effect in some tasty two copy cut up action.

Rolasoul "Desire" Released 8.9.03 Cat No. PFT045

Technova "If I Could Have Sex" Released 8.9.03 Cat No. DUKE118DJV
A1 - If I Could Have Sex
A2 - If I Could Have Sex (Tommie Sunshine mix)
B - If I Could Have Sex (A1 People mix)
Connoisseurs will certainly remember Tantric Steps and Transcience, a pair of groundbreaking albums from Technova (aka David Harrow) that appeared on Andrew Weatheralls Sabres label in 94 and 95 respectively and led to the lauded David Harrow / Weatherall collaboration, Bloodsugar. Not everybody knows Harrow's success as Anne Clark's musical cohort in over 250,000 sales of albums in her home country of Germany. In between then and now, Harrow has busied himself with a stream of wide-ranging musical endeavours, developing and refining his creative output in tandem with the technology that he so adeptly embraces. Sidestepping a compulsion to unite musical genres, Harrows timely return to the Technova project introduces a rich and refined strain of progressive techno, ushered in by his continued love affair with the soul that seeps from digital sound. In many ways 'I could Have Sex' EP is techno for people who think theyve heard it all before. Remixer, Tommie Sunshine is Felix Da Housecats engineer and cohort.
