The Boyz "Pogo" Released 21.01.02 Cat No.THM034
12 Inch Thumpers new signing The Boyz hit Christmas time with 2 thumpin tracks. Taking a new twist and adding a bit of variety to the label, The Boyz show that they mean business and supply us with 2 tracks to whet your appetite for what's to come in the new year. 'Pogo' is a minimal hard house extravaganza with its dark beats, double bass line and sharp stabs. It twists up to a long breakdown but doesn't lose momentum with a flanged break beat finally hitting back with an acid like riff with resonates through your eardrums. 'Lets Rock' is a less serious affair with extra production by 12 inch Thumpers. It moves and shakes like a Big Daddy belly flop and with its dark off beat bass line it guarantees to satisfy even the die hard house connoisseur.

John "00" Fleming "Belfast Trance" Released 21.01.02 Cat No.BELF001 / BELFCD001
This cheeky little mash up originated as a white label 1 sider earlier this year to test the water and is now getting the full release treatment. Created by John "OO" Fleming as personal homage to one of his favourite Simple Minds' tracks, 'Belfast Child', it has quickly grown into a huge anthem that is popular across Scotland, Ireland and The North. The original mix is a slab of chugging electronica, building in all the right places into a massive breakdown that sends the kids on the dance floor into a state of euphoric panic. Meanwhile, the new vocal mix, which has been commissioned for this release, goes for a more creative approach, incorporating a series of riffs into proceedings, tweaking the production slightly to give it a more widespread appeal that will find favour with a variety of dance music lovers.

George T "Zirconia EP" Released 21.01.02 Cat No.UTC034
George T kicks off this twelve with a hard-hitting dance-floor workout. What we have here is a groove packed with 100% rock solid floor-filling electronics. Just check the tough beats, DJ Duke-style stabs and the serious 303 lick. They'll be arriving on the decks at a house party near you soon. 'Easy Pie' offers a warmer take on George T - this more simplified affair revolves around a funky bass groove and another 303 line, this time sounding like a vague instrumental acid flashback of Daft Punk's 'Around the World'. The b-side offers two more of our plastic avenger's take on house. 'Budapest Bungalo' [sic] works a driving bass-lead rhythm around some filtered hooks and almost eastern influenced synth lines. Finally 'The Party Flirt' gives up a mid tempo 4/4 beat, acid bass and a cool vocal loop that states "you don't care if I'm the one - all you wanna do is have some fun". As well as material for his own label Pohm Pohm and some new collaborations with local artists, George is currently in the studio finishing his debut album. Expect to see it appearing on UTC sometime early 2002.

The Captain & Steve Thomas "New York, London, Amsterdam" Released 21.01.02 Cat No.RIB053
The Captain & Steve Thomas, producers of such mighty tunes as the Leader and Get Down, have come up with another stonking release for Tinrib. Both of the tracks featured point directly at the heart of the dancefloor, using the finest elements of trance and hard house to create two relentless, pounding anthems! The A side: 'New York, London, Amsterdam' - tried & tested on the dancefloor at FISH! and believe me it went off! Starting out as a full on fusion of thumping beats, echoey old skool stabs, funk guitar and electro bleeps, but at the break the boys shift it up a gear as an almighty raging trance riff steamrollers yer senses into absolute aural mayhem. On the AA.Side is 'The Clown', an altogether different story. No big euphoric build ups, no tuneful little melodies, just pure unadulterated relentlessness on a techno tip. We love it - different but blistering all the same.

Andy Farley & Paul Janes "I Can Feel It" Released 21.01.02 Cat No.VCR010
Neither of these two really need an introduction, as Andy Farley is probably the most highly respected hard house DJ in the world and Paul Janes production career spans over a decade. During this he has worked under various guises but when he remixed Tony De Vits The Dawn for Tidy Trax, he decided to use his real name and finally get the recognition he deserved. The A-Side is an epic tech-trance fusion track which is going to be massive, appealing to everyone from the Tidy Boys to Nick Sentience. This really is the sound of tomorrow! On the flip is a mix from Justin Bourne - a classic example of his full on style, a no holds barred hard house work out.

Lee James "EP" Released 21.01.02 Cat No.12HPOT14PT1(MP3) / 12HPOT14PT2
In a recent article in IDJ magazine on hard house they quoted Honey Pot as being the most innovative and forward thinking label of all the hard house labels. Here they present Lee James who has been under the guidance of Jon Doe for the past couple of years and has had a handful of releases and remixes on labels such as Nukleuz, 1 Inch and Honey Pot. Lee has now been signed exclusively to Honey Pot and on this release he shows how diverse his talents are in the world of hard house and hard trance. Of the 4 tracks each has a totally different and unique take on each genre. 'We Got Enough' is a full on hard house anthem, whereas 'Tactics' is a cutting edge tech trance track. 'Funk Lesson' is a funked up hard house number, whilst 'God's House' is a stunning UK hard trance anthem.

Mauro Picotto "Awesome" Released 21.01.02 Cat No.BXRP0382
'Awesome' by name and truly awesome by nature, this is one release that does exactly what it says on the packet! No need to call Trading Standards as Mr 'straight in at Number 8' Picotto delivers six slabs of no-holds-barred teutonic techno action. Making sure that he retains the all important balance between the chart success of killer tracks such as 'Like This Like That' (No. 21 Summer 2001) and 'Komodo' (No. 15 Spring 2001) and the underground mash-up that was 'Baguette' and 'Pegasus', Mauro has chosen to wear his colours on his sleeve as he pays his dues to the music that really turns him on. Think the best of Beyer, Umek, Smith and Co. as Mauro Picotto creates loops to make the earth shake. Roadtested at some of the biggest raves on the planet, this is one artist who knows where it's at the world over. Having finished his first weekly stint on the white isle this season, no-one is better qualified to judge the state of the dancefloor than this globe-trotting megastar.

Pole Folder "Enter The Rhythm" Released 21.01.02 Cat No.BED29
Pole Folder is one of the freshest and most talented young producers to emerge in house music for a long time. 'Enter The Rhythm' is a soulful, melodic cut which beats hypnotically along, building with the vocal that entices dancers deeper in to its groove, whilst 'Waxxx' is a darker story. 'Waxxx' thumps in and grows to a synth covered number of gargantuan proportions. Crucially influenced by the DJ sounds of Sasha & John Digweed, Pole Folder has quickly established himself in the house world with first single on Bedrock 'Apollo Vibes' and remix work for the likes of Eve Records with Daniel Ash's 'Burning Man'. His talent as a producer is clearly illustrated in Bedrock's eagerness to sign him up for these singles, whilst additional work includes various remix and production for the likes of Sony, Bedrock, Eve and his own label, Indian Chief Records.

Reflektive "Breathe Life" Released 21.01.02 Cat No.3BTT59 / 3BTT59R
This is the second single by Reflektive, their first single 'Echoes' was released earlier this year, backed with some mighty fine remixes by Origin. Produced by Andy Chatterley (who as one half of Yum Yum has just released his awesome 'Heavy Fluid' single on Bedrock) and featuring the amazing vocal talent of newcomer Andrea Britton. There are loads of mixes to chose from, spread across 2 x 12. Part one features a cool and classy house mix from Greed, which builds beautifully. On the flip is Reflektives simple but effective original and the acapella. Part two features remixes by Monza, who have once again delivered a massive set of mixes. The 205mph mix gyrates and rocks with quirky basslines and clever intricate use of the wonderful vocal whilst the Parabolica Dub strips away the vocal and reworks their main mix into a deeper solid groove.

Christian West "Quench" Released 21.01.02 Cat No.FLR032
After the success of Eterna and Rotation it was inevitable that Christian West would come back with another huge release. The long awaited 'Quench' is everything you expect from a Christian West record impeccable production, rhythmic heaven and uplifting vibes coupled with a very cool edge. The A - side is a deep, sweeping mix with a bubbling bass line and an 808 bass groan, shuffling percussion and intricate drums layered together building the tracks intensity and keeping the suspense like a good Hitchcock thriller. The B - side (Part 2) is deeper still. A hypnotic future funk bassline leads the way with rezzy synth droplets and a sonic shower of sound. Undulating pads breathe in and out making way for the tailored lead riff, more subtle but still as devatstating. Recently remixing big tracks such as Didos Take My Hands single on BMG, Christian West has proved to be a competitive player.
