Celeda
"The Underground Part 2"
Released 10.12.01
Cat No.STAR1211(MP3)

Its almost 2 years since the haunting vocal and melody of "the underground", was born. It seemed that the original would be impossible to better, but John Creamer & Stephane K deliver a fantastic mix that will fit into anyone and everyone's set. They slowly work up a deep twisted groove with lots of nice percussion and good use of samples from the original track. Award winner Peter Rauhofer shows us why he has been at the forefront of underground house music for the past 12 years. Using all the right elements of the original, this drives along very nicely then breakdown half way through to leave the awesome vocal.

Mavi
"Sufi"
Released 10.12.01
Cat No.M5

Regress recordings is the off shoot imprint of Made records, the origin of the highly anticipated 'Rapture' track by Lio. The A-side 'Sufi' is a haunting and spine tingling track that will make you cringe with fear and utter satisfaction at the same time. The subtley of the deep and sophisticated drum patterns are well complimented by the frightening and dissolving middle eastern effects. The chilling and perennial breakdown proves that this record is undoubltly ahead of its time. Further evidence resides in the fact that it has been licensed to the upcoming Renaissance compilation by Nick Warren and Danny Howells and the great support provided by Pete Tong on Radio 1. The flipside entitled 'Doobie', offers a more peak time effect for the dancefloor. Just ask John Digweed, who featured it on his Kiss FM show and in his regular sets ever since he received it. The driving bassline leads perfectly into one of those piano breakdowns of long lost yesterday.

Frankie Goes To Hollywood
"Relax (pt.2)"
Released 10.12.01
Cat No.STAR1222

Two brand new exclusive mixes of the 80's classic 'Relax' from Saeed & Palash and Coldcut! Star 69 is always changing, never standing still, and never failing to disappoint: Saeed & Palash deliver another stomping, tribal progressive mix, that filters the vocal very intelligently - this mix is not at all cheesy and will definetely fit into most upfront jock's boxes. Coldcut's is the unusual remix, which sees them use their unigue breakbeat style that has seen them go from strength to strength on their Ninja tunes label.

Rairbirds
"Blow Wind Blow"
Released 10.12.01
Cat No.RAIR001

A 5 piece band from cornwall with mystical lyrics, driving beats and wonderful vocals. Perfect rock/dance cross-over appealing to both Pete Tong and Jo Whiley, who are both playing it. Number 8 in the Cool Cuts chart and number 14 next week in the Buzz Chart. Photek is at the controls and the man is absoluetly on fire at the moment with recent Zero 7 and Jakarta remixes. "Led zeppelin meets dance music", (John Kennedy, XFM), "outstanding" (Cool Cuts), "Very Hot" (Pete Tong).

Sam Reeve & Jon Rundell
"Burnin' / Killahurtz"
Released 10.12.01
Cat No.KTI018

Kaktai welcomes this new duo to the label with a new fresh pumping angle on what is commonly termed 'hard house'. Samuel E Reeve, a name usually associated with the Tidy/Hotwax sound and new partner in crime Jon Rundell (his debut release) have come together and spawned a couple of monster pieces of dancefloor energy, which could prove to be a whole new genre in itself. 'Burnin' is a slice of absolutely thumping driving kicks and bass, encompassing techier prog sounds with techno driven snippets of sound and a whispering female vocal. When heard on a system, this has been reported to literally shake clubs like Frantic, Storm and even Brixton Academy, courtesy of BK and Andy Farley. 'Killahurtz' on the flip, has a darker edge to it and the track mainly concentrates on what happens after the break. The riff tears off and has had a devastating affect on anyone who's heard it.

Alma Matris
"Musica Electrica"
Released 10.12.01
Cat No.STAR1232

Star 69 continue their success with Alma Matris' 'Electrica', No.1 in Tom Stephan's chart and No. 2 in Danny Tenaglia's. A galloping record with a killer breakdown that will savage any dancefloor, we have been constantly getting requests from DJs and customers alike for this release. Head straight for Peter's NY club edit, you'll never be able to ignore it.

Sueno Latino
"Sueno Latino" Remixes
Released 10.12.01
Cat No.MTR2106
Santos's rejuvenated Mantra Vibes label has gone from strength to strength over the past year and with the release of the classic 'Sueno Latino' is a perfect example of their brand of tough, electronic soul music. Recycled loops delivers stunning mixes that will leave the dancefloor paralyzed, using the toughest of grooves and rocking percussion to produce quite a hard, driving, deep groove which is truly unstoppable.

12" Thumpers
"Oh You're Ready"
Released 10.12.01
Cat No.THM032

After a temporary absence from the studio to concentrate on expansion and relocation, the Thumpers are back in the hot seat and doing what they do best: making what is without a doubt, the most creative and in demand underground hard house there is. This time round the usual rock-solid production underpins a floor-shaking pumpathon in 'The New Style'. Big beats, growling bass, and ruff trancey stabs combined with a wicked, in ya face rap sample gives us a bouncy groove that does the job very well indeed. This is proper UK Hard House made for dancing and shaking your stick to. Some very intricate riffs and sounds laced over a stimulating bass line and some frantic epic stabs and shots blend into a climatic breakdown and a superb electro breakbeat.

Jean Phillipe Aviance
"Black On Black"
Released 10.12.01
Cat No.PLA010

Jean is probably best known for his 'Useless' track, which came out on Subversive Records and was featured on John Digweed's Hong Kong Global Underground at the tail end of 1999. Here he fuses a tough, dark driving progressive beats track with hard features. It is a fusion of Cevin Fisher and Satoshie Tomiie's best moments and has rendered most dancefloors senseless. On remix duties, Brancaccio & Aisher take the lead. Currently doing the rounds is their own remix track 'Lovely Day', which has been an 'Essential New Tune' on Radio One and is now licensed to Credence from Bedrock. These boys are in demand and it's easy to see why. The remix is a more atmospheric, techier track, which builds and builds with jerking rhythms and uplifting pads.

BK
"Domination"
Released 10.12.01
Cat No.NUKP0386

Nukleuz the first official solo BK release since the legendary '(Let The) Rhythm Move You' last summer, 'Domination / Go Around' cements our main man's status as the king of the (hard) beats. Two slices of maniac stomping fodder, this is the sound of the future. Relentless beats and monster hard trance riffage is destined to send the rave monkey massive into a frenzy of 'avin it mayhem from start to finish. Bigger than Godzilla and ruffer than King Kong!

BPT feat. DM Binxter
"Moody"
Released 10.12.01
Cat No.BRG027

'Moody' was first around over three years ago on US label Kult Records and was championed by the likes of Sasha, Digweed and Tenaglia. It is progressive, house and tribal all fused into one dynamite track, with driving percussion, tough drum programming, driving beats, hard stabs and chords and a superb male vocal, all blended together into a fierce, unstoppable groove. A track this good can only be accompanied by set of remixes that do it justice, so Junior have called upon three of the best in the business, to deliver a set across two twelve's, that will quite simply blow you away, kicking off with Pete Heller's 'Stylus' vocal. Look out for the Futureshock and Beloved mixes, out on 17th December.

"Much championed by Tenaglia on its release three years ago, this compulsive vocal house cut has crossed the Atlantic and returned with mixes by Junior's Pete Heller....we're plumping for Pete's hypnotic take, a gradually building collage of overlapping electronica, keeping all the vocals and taking them further out into space. Hard enough for fans of Stylus Trouble, but far, yes, moodier, for those vital strobe-lit moments"

The Captain & Tom Silk
"Mexicali / Bass People"
Released 10.12.01
Cat No.RIB052

A. Side : Mexicali - Guess where The Captain went on holiday this year! Somewhere at the bottom of their tenth Margarita The Captain & Tom Silk were possessed by the ghost of a Mariachi band and demonized by the sound of a Rave horn. Producing one of the most barking Tinrib offerings to date. Totally crazy - but terrifyingly catchy - you have been warned. AA.Side : Bass People - Turn it over and 'Bass People' is more what you may expect from the boys. A relentless, galloping trancer with phat synths and lovely lip-smacking kick. The Captain will be performing live at the 10,000 capacity Likity Splitz event organised by Skills on November 17th in San Fransisco. Harry Diamond vs. The Mexican

Dope Smugglaz
"The Word 2001 Remixes"
Released 10.12.01
Cat No.PERFTP1

Perfecto finally release the sought after Hernan Cattaneo and PMT mixes of the Dope Smugglaz classic 'The Word'. Both mixes add a sinister edge to the Dope's take on the Grease classic. The PMT mix was commissioned especially for the Swordfish soundtrack, the Travolta blockbuster that hit the big screen this summer, whilst Hernan has added new depths to the original manically twisted melancholic monster. The Smugglaz - Tim Sheridan and Keith Binner - are as notorious as they are famous: their beards, famous houses (Tim lives in Jimmy Hendrix's old flat) and Madonna shenanigans have earned them almost as much attention as their acclaimed programming, mixing and instrumentation skills. Deep, dark and ultimately addictive, these tracks growl.

Richard F
"Cookie Dough Dynamo"
Released 10.12.01
Cat No.SON9

Richard F steps forward to release this absolute gem of a house track. If you Imagine Tenaglia, Slam or Lawler in the booth, they've been layering grooves, keeping the dancefloor simmering, they need a record to take the club over the edge, its got to be raw, dirty and straight to the point. 'Cookie Dough Dynamo' is that cut - pure dancefloor destruction. It breaks in the middle to a strange but very effective vocal then POW, in comes the sexy, driving beats, which create a truly magnificent, hypnotic groove. This is the future sound of house music: meaty, big and bouncy.

Big Ron
"Cold Chills"
Released 10.12.01
Cat No.ON001

The long standing house label Spot On present their new subsidiary label 'On Records', with a housier music policy. The first release on this new and exciting label is by Big Ron, who had huge success under various guises, including The Dalai Beats, That Green Jesus, Mr Natural and Ashram. Now the maestro has released this superb house cut, tailor made to cause the maximum amount of devastation to the nations dancefloors. The track is full of energy and pace, superb basslines, rolling percussion, wicked synths and all wrapped up with a wonderful vocal hook which is uplifting but never cheesy. The main man delivers a darker re-work on the flip in the shape of his 'Midnight Dub', which is slightly more stripped down and deeper but still just as effective.

Aqua Boogie
"Fantasy"
Released 10.12.01
Cat No.SLS003

A pumped up heavily disco influenced house workout from the same producer that brought us Essence - 'Keep on Groovin'. Salinas recordings are definitely going from strength to strength as Aquaboogie deliver a ridiculously good organic house record that explodes half way through. Spiller style drums and a well known disco sample makes this peak time house euphoria and reinstates some welcome roughness into an all too often bland genre.

Swain & Snell
"Grind"
Released 10.12.01
Cat No.PFT029

Plastic Fantastic is one of the UK's longest standing and leading independent house labels. Their previous release, the classic Eagle's Prey - 'Tonto's Drum' was hammered by all the top jocks and featured on Radio One on numerous occasions. Plastic Fantastic was recently voted the UK's Best Independent Record Store at the Muzik Magazine Awards 2001. Kevin Swain and David Snell are a duo dominating the world's dancefloors with releases on Baroque, Rhythm Syndicate and remixes on such labels as Renaissance in their various guises. 'Grind' is a massive house track with dirty, filthy and darkly devastating drums and a killer booty grinding bass. It typifies the sweaty excesses of a strobe soaked dancefloor.

"It's a quality record that doesn't ever descend into the realms of mediocrity - it's big, it's deep, it's loud, it's brash, it's Swain and Snell, it's Plastic Fantastic!"

Gary Curley, M8 review Sept.

Rhythm Reigns
"Fuel"
Released 10.12.01
Cat No.UNC12007

Not since the days of BT, has America unleashed a producer as talented as Austin. His slick production skills and trademark twisted house music will take this rising young star to the top. He is already a key member of the US Nu Breed and has made many a fan along the way. This track is an awesome piece of what we know as US progressive. Dark and disurbing, this 'fuel' injected baby has been arranged to rip up the joint.
