D'Julz
"Timeless Bass"
Released 26.11.01
Cat No.VIS070

A major player on the French electronic scene, D'Julz holds his head up high in the company of the likes of Erik Rug, DJ Deep, Laurent Garnier and the Daft Punks. Having already recorded original productions on Onionz and Joeski's Maya and the French label, Serial, he makes his debut here with a rather stunning slab of vinyl. D'Julz has remixed Celeda's 'Burning Up' on Twisted and Marino Berardi's 'Expressions In E Dub' on Wally's Groove World, and is making great strides as a producer. As a Dj, he has played just about every club worth mentioning in the world. As resident of the Respect and famous Magic Garden parties in Paris, he has been able to hone his skills to such a point that he is now in demand at leading clubs like Fabric (London), The Arches (Glasgow), Tunnel (New York) and La Terrazza (Barcelona).Look out for his stunning double mix cd, D'Julz Boxes, set to come out on React following his "Boxed" which was released in France on Sony and in the USA on Afterhours. "Boxes" features tracks from the Inland Knights, Joeski & Chus, Terry Francis, Wolf n Flow and Swag, as well as his own amazing mix of an unreleased track of Funky Transport track. As for this single, well the A side features a bass line to die for coupled with a peak-time - think Renegade Soundwave meets X-Press 2 - a driving percussive section and techno feel which has already found favour with Laurent Garnier, Yousef, Chris Duckenfield and Domenic Cappello. The flip side takes things a little deeper with two variations on a theme. Essential dancefloor tackle

Tom Coll
"Devotion"
Released 26.11.01
Cat No.PIED017

Pied Piper present a track from new Irish producer Tom Cole (with the help of engineer Mark Lowndes - Religion). The original mix was available in limited quantities earlier this year and it is now re-presented with sublime mixes from Northface and Joshua Cantrell. Northface, consist of Karl Maddision, Lee Harris and Garry White (the resident DJ at Slinky in Bournemouth.) Northface are currently on a roll at the moment with an amazing remix of X-Trax's 'Plan '94' (out on Pied Piper soon), which Sasha has been playing out. They are remixing for Platipus and for BlackIce Recordings. Joshua Cantrell is a mysterious DJ/producer, hailing from the north of England and has had previous mixes out through Gravitation Records. His mix is a sublime house mix which was played by Nick Warren on Radio One recently during his Essential Mix (October 2001.)

Southern Comforter
"Another Late Thursday"
Released 26.11.01
Cat No.AUTO27

'Another Late Thursday' is a beautiful, dreamy piece of progressive house music with seriously filtered rhythms, lush chords and atmospheric sweeps in all the right places. A top quality debut release from Southern Comforter who are Chris from Ashtrax and Stretch from Stretch & Vern. Automatic are proud to announce that the remix is from house music dons, Spincycle, who have released their own excellent material on Low Pressings. Their remix is a tech-house groover of the highest order with a bassline that may blow up sound systems if not handled with extreme caution. Sasha played this mix at the recent Bedrock 3rd Birthday Bash to an enormous reaction. Licensed to the following compilations: Danny Howell's forthcoming Renaissance mix CD, Paul Van Dyk's forthcoming Ministry mix CD, and Automatic's 'Response' mixed by Ashley Casselle.

Blue Amazon
"Four Seasons"
Released 26.11.01
Cat No.WIN001

Originally released back in 1995 where it received the highest accolades and press and paved the way for a new progressive sound on the first release for the Jackpot label. It first appeared on Sasha's Essential Mix Album and was initially deleted after vinyl sales of 8,000. This will be the first time the original mix has been available for six years, proving that perhaps Blue Amazon were ahead of their time. This re-release features a new mix by hotly tipped DJ/Producer Alison Marks and is typical of her techy-funky house sound. Alison is a fave DJ of Steve Lawler and Danny Howells, but this remix is her first outing on vinyl. She has recently signed to Tall Paul's Duty Free imprint.

Jeffed
"Mask"
Released 26.11.01
Cat No.PSSST0152

Tuff pumping disco grooves coupled with filtered effects and trademark stabs announce the return of Jeffed. This is sure to win over more fans alongside those who supported last year's release 'Dragon', which was a firm favourite with Judge Jules. Pssst have already made their mark in the UK with the likes of Chocolate Puma, Jark Prongo and Tomba Vira, all of which were national top 30 hits via license partners.

Dirty
"Dirty"
Released 26.11.01
Cat No.BRG026

Dirty are Matt Thomas and former Bottom Dollar producer Matt Roberts, who make up the illustrious and mind blowing outfit King Unique. They also record under other pseudonyms: Matt Thomas produced killer tracks under the names Mainframe for Fuju and Watkins for Direction records. In addition, Matt Roberts is the man behind Ubu whose track 'Pixels' has been signed by Azuli.

"Roberts & Thomas finally take a rest from remix hell and give us their debut release on Junior. 'Dirty' is two slices of porn driven booty. The vocal hook 'Obscene, dirty, filthy and immoral' - sums up both sides of this record, with an original mix in true KU style. Smooth, clear production and twisted beats aim for peak time priority, whilst the dub drops that old skool feel and turns nasty for you to get down to some ass shaking action"

The Wackdaddies
"Blow Shit Up"
Released 26.11.01
Cat No.UTC035

'Blow Shit Up' is the second single to be taken from the Wackdaddies forthcoming sophomore album 'Return of a Wack Planet', following their universally acclaimed debut 'Fear of a Wack Planet'. Hip-house is something that most producers would run a mile from, but not Tony Senghore. Here the Daddy of all things Wack delivers a killer pop lick, like Li'l Louie Vega & Marc Anthony's 90s anthem 'Ride on the Rhythm' mixed up with the best of Daft Punk's 'Homework', this is peak-time dancefloor entertainment - Wack style. Just check the fly guitar licks, high-octane funk bass and the driving disco breaks. For those DJs that are just a little afraid of the fun content on this twelve, fear not, there are two more sophisticated mixes on the flip. The first 'Blow Beat' mix offers a more twisted, break-heavy view of the track, mixing heavy 909 kicks with moody bell tolls and spacey delayed vocals. The'soft rock' mix is, thankfully, a million miles away from 'The Final Countdown'. Here Senghore adds a housier feel to Baby Ark's vocals working his shouty sound over a smoother backing of keyboards & strings. Tony's currently completing several projects which include a track for Moody (Chicago), a 12" for Paper called 'Lovechild' featuring Juju and a mixed LP of Tony and La Cienda Honduras releases from '96 onward to be released on San Francisco's Panhandle Records. He's also finishing a remix for Phil Cheeseman's new label Essence, and is just back in homeland Sweden after a DJing tour of America.

BK & Nick Sentience
"Flash"
Released 26.11.01
Cat No.NUKP0361 / NUKPA0361

In its original form, 'Flash' was the follow up to the mighty '7 Days and One Week' by French chart-toppers BBE. Originally released by Positiva five years ago it didn't match the commercial success of its predecessor yet it bubbled away on the underground and remained a firm favourite in the box of a certain Birmingham-based turntable legend called Tony De Vit at a club called Trade... Fast-forward to 2001 and the 21st Century torch-bearers of TDV and Trade's legacy are now moving to a totally inspired cover of the very same track. BK & Nick Sentience's re-work first saw the light of day on the limited edition Nukleuz In Ibiza 12" sampler. All 5000 copies of this release sold out within two weeks making the release one of the most desirable hard dance tracks of the year. Remixers:
Blackout - Andy Ward has recorded and remixed for Novamute, Distinc'tive, Incentive, Hooj, Neo, Azuli and many more over his ten year production career. Providing a tribal and dubby re-work, Andy has created a remix of the track that'll hit the nail on the head for the Seb Fontaine and Pete Tong afficionados.
Nuw Idol - Michel Spiegel's motto for his own label, the respected Well Wicked Records, is 'There Are No B-Sides' and this is certainly the case with his remix of 'Flash'. A producer from the old-school, Nuw Idol successfully manages to rock the dance floor whilst impressing even the most jaded ears. Based around a liquid groove, this pumped up trancer is perfect for the Jules and Fergie brigade.
D.A.V.E. The Drummer - Giving the track a pan-European flavour, Hydraulix Records' primary producer delivers a remix that is set to appeal to the jet-set A-list of Mauro Picotto, Sven Vath, Christian Smith, Carl Cox and company. Razor sharp production fails to dull the raw funk of D.A.V.E. The Drummer's pounding grooves as this mix rocks uber-raves everywhere from here to the moon!

"[It] has the potential to be a crossover hit for the dynamic duo. The production is flawless, combining the trance feel of the original with a tough techno/hard house feel. Inescapable!"
Mixmag, August 2001

Fluke
"Slap It"
Released 26.11.01
Cat No.APPA001

Not content with bringing you the very best house sounds of all genres, on Junior and the ultimate progressive-tech-house sounds on Fuju, forward thinking Junior present the third label to join their already exceptional stable. Appalooso has now landed and you can guarantee that this label will provide complete floor filling action in every way possible. The first release on the label is by an artist that needs no introduction: Fluke, who have returned after a break from the scene to create a dancefloor masterpiece. The A side is a deep, driving, dark monster of a track, reminiscent of the classic 'Altered States', complete with tough kick drums, awesome percussion and a superb breakdown that only a few know how to create. The flip has been masterfully and methodically remixed by Marvin Beaver, who turns in a stunning remix under his Dylan Rhymes pseudonym, using twisted and brutal beats, backward strings and tech-grooves to maximum effect. Look out for forthcoming releases by Apogee (Gordon Kaye & Ken Reah) and Triggamen (Marvin - Peace Division) coming soon to a dancefloor near you.

Pablo Gargano
"Absolution"
Released 26.11.01
Cat No.EVE01050 / EVE01050X

The outstanding track 'Absolution' by Pablo Gargano was chosen to celebrate Eve's 50th release and is remixed for the occasion by three Eve Records' artists, representing the past, present and future of the label: David Forbes (the man behind the huge hit 'Questions'), who has been signed to Eve since 1997; Markus Schulz, established American DJ and producer extraordinaire, who has been releasing on Eve for the past year; and new signing Nimrod, who has just joined the Eve stable, having released tracks on labels such as Futuregroove. This release's many facets illustrate the broad production qualities that Eve Records' four main artists bring to the label. Nimrod's intriguing use of the vocal sample, David Forbes' tough progressive beats, Markus Schulz's attention to detail with its luscious use of the main melody and Pablo Gargano's huge talent in devising new ways and formulas to spice up melodies, vocals and dancefloor appeal.

Earthbound
"Song 5"
Released 26.11.01
Cat No.EVENOVA017

Swedish producers Earthbound have already featured on Evenova: their releases 'One Nation' and 'Essence Of Life' are solid back catalogue sellers and their singles and albums have consistently reached the Top 40 in their native Sweden. 'Song 5' confirms Earthbound's talent for pure emotional melodic bliss. Even though it always retains its dancefloor appeal with its percussive bassline and melody lines, the main feature of the track is its spine tingling melody. Deeply reminiscent of a previous Evenova release, Jose Amnesia's 'Eternal' (now set to come out on VC) its subtle and solar melodies and flawless production and arrangements remind us of a now unfortunately distant summer. The A side features a mix by Eve artist David Forbes, which toughens up the production and keeps only the strongest melodies. On the flip you will find the original with it's luscious riffs and Balearic guitars. Record of the week with Trevor Reilly on Beat 106.

Gemini
"Sexy Aquarius"
Released 26.11.01
Cat No.WAX008

Previewed last year in its original form, 'Sexy Aquarius' is now getting a well deserved full release on Wax Records, complete with a brand new re-working from the boys themselves. As well as this superb, tough-as-you-like new mix, there is an equally monstrous offering from Dutch maestro Mac Zimms, who provides one of his strongest and most underground mixes to date. Already burning up the more discerning dance floors of the UK and Holland, 'Sexy Aquarius' is quite simply as funky as it gets.

Microtek
"Feel Free"
Released 26.11.01
Cat No.TRA066

Microtek is Tim Healey who also records as Electric Tease on prog-house label Automatic Records and has recently collaborated with Slide on Fire Records. The production here is excellent, as with all Mr Healey's recent offerings. It features a haunting, siren-like vocal, (closely based on that in a track by a famous 60s band) skippy percussion, builds & drops in all the right places and a bassline so fat it would not look out of place at weightwatchers. Hot German producer Sebastian Kruger delivers a quality remix on the flip with a bouncy, conga driven rhythm track and bass pattern layered with a sprinkling of choicely positioned weird sounds. A relentless groover of the highest order which utilises the haunting vocal to great effect with some clever filter and reverb work.

"A personal favourite of recent times and a track which definitely seems to stand out. Two mixes here and quite a big tune overall. The original mix features bright percussion played over a quirky bass, large synth parts firing off and a catchy vocal sample to boot. All the elements are here to make a great tune and this most definitely is. The flip sees a remix courtesy of SBK turns in a nice warm groove, which works well as an alternative."
- M7/M8 Steven McCreery

London Fresh
"Can U Feel It"
Released 26.11.01
Cat No.RUDE025

This is Rudeboy's most popular record and licensed from the same origin as Bliss Inc's 'Faith'. The original of 'Can U Feel It' is still being played in clubs nationwide from limited import, and is a perfect representation of the sound of Rudeboy Recordings. The record has been produced by talented duo Panos Liassi & Gary Sharkey, a.k.a. Amen UK. Duplex (another guise of Andy Allder & Don Grant) helped cement the foundations of Rudeboy back in 1999 with their epic mix of Transformer 2's 'Just Cant Get Enough' and have not disappointed here, producing a full-throttled interpretation, with progressive beats building to a melodic break of epic proportions. Meanwhile DJ Rolf has turned it into an organ driven groover, less immediate, but still retaining a tough edge. Licensed to a new Dance Valley Compilation mixed by Tom Harding at HQ (The last one was number one in the Dutch album charts.)

Tetraflux
"Forever"
Released 26.11.01
Cat No.TOU0143

As Labels go, Touché is up there with the best of them. Responsible for such acts as Trancesetters, Tatabox Inhibitors and Loophole, Touché has achieved success in most major territories. Sander Baas and Jamez are Tetraflux (Jamez is also one half of Trancesetters) The quality of Tetraflux is instantly recognizable: deep rhythms, luscious strings and crisp production will guarantee this finds its way to the front of the DJ Box.

Magnusson
"Mary Go Round"
Released 26.11.01
Cat No.UTD21

First time out for two Dutch producers who put together a hooky commercial dance number. Armin Van Buuren has produced the remix which has already made this a Dutch dancefloor anthem.

DJ Hal
"The Launch EP"
Released 26.11.01
Cat No.SS007

DJ Hal (Roger Watson) is one half of Red Moon who are set to take the dance world by storm next year after 2 highly acclaimed singles on Surround Sounds and one on Eukahouse. The Launch EP is his debut single as a solo artist and a fine one it is too. Funky conga led percussive grooves with great, infectious sounds and spot on arrangement. Truly a product of the acid house scene, Roger has spent the past twelve years involved in the promotion and logistics around Dance Music, having spent some time indisposed in the early 90s, he eventually teamed up with cousin Martyn Watson in '95 and has worked as part of the 'International Peoples Gang' for the past five years promoting and producing dance music from the Elbow Rooms to The Bomb. More recently he worked with Hardkiss and Sunburn to bring them over to the UK for a comprehensive tour last summer. At the same time Roger was able to work on remixes with Hawke and Handieman Maurice, for future releases on the Sunburn label. As DJ Hal, he is resident at Nottingham's newest club, The Edge on the first Friday of the month.

Money Systems
"Alright"
Released 26.11.01
Cat No.OK001

Amato are proud to announce a brand new in-house label, Captive Audience. After the huge success of our progressive label Undercurrent, we decided to continue that success of cutting edge house music with Money Systems. Licensed from Quarzo music in Italy, we loved the track so much we signed it! Already getting hammered on TP by Eric Morillo and Seamas Hadji (Defected), this is destined for dancefloor destruction. The Alma de Riviera mix on the A side is a solid slice of music that's more than a match for any floor. Chunky percussion carries the track, but it builds and breaks down to a wicked vocal that will put a smile on any face, then kicks back in with a funky as fuck bassline. The b-side consists off 2 mixes, the comb -oh mix and the Mozzarella mix that will cater for breaks to deep house djs respectively. This is a tune that won't go away and expect some top notch remixes coming to a dancefloor near you soon.

D.S.P.
"The Tipster"
Released 26.11.01
Cat No.THM031

The two tracks dished out here by DSP bring a breath of fresh air to the thumpers stable, taking a slightly different musical direction to what we have previously been graced with on the thumpers imprint. 'Electrolux' is a dark but funky affair with some clever twists and loops layered over some outrageously creative bass driven sounds to create a very likeable house track with a hard, rough edge. 'The Tipster' is hard house meets progressive meets techno in this adventurous but minimal monster. From the start it weaves all over the place, introducing crazy new sounds and riffs all the way through the track, over a deep, tuff, pumping bass line. The percussion and rhythms combine beautifully with the swirls and futuristic stabs, opening breakdowns and warped bass noises throughout this blinding production.

Mystic Brew
"For Play EP 2"
Released 26.11.01
Cat No.FC12009
This is the second EP from Mystic Brew's 'For Play' album and includes Dorfmeister's remix of 'The Stopper'. The Lightning Head track is taken from the fifth Mystic Brew album 'The Fat City Sound'. Dorfmeister is of course one half of Kruder & Dorfmeister, Austria's premiere production team. Lightning Head is one half of Rockers Hi Fi and his 'Me & Me Princess' track is taken from the German seven inch series Sonar Kollektiv. Side 1 is a digi-dubby dancehall friendly coffee table dub track, whilst side 2 is pure elcetro dancehall latin boogie.

Some quotes about Mystic Brew:

"Compilation of the year so far, in fact that doesn't do it justice"

- Muzik

"The playlist to the perfect party you're always hoping to be invited to."
