DJ Robert & Martinez Bros.
"Natural Peak"
Released 12.11.01
Cat No.RSR002

"Red square is a relatively new label, only on it's second release, yet by the look of them, set for very big things. The first release by Levod, tore up the dancefloors nationwide and overseas, with its quality, deep grooves, receiving regular spins by some of the biggest dj's on the circuit. This time, DJ Robert & Martinez bros, step forward to deliver another slice of stunning tech/progressive house. The track has been carefully crafted using tough percussion, superb chords and a growling bassline - this is both dark and devastating."

Denver feat. Derek Conyer
"Can't Give Up"
Released 12.11.01
Cat No.MDR9641

This is a double header of fantastic house music and clever production with mixes to kill the dancefloor. Occasionally you find a tune that you like so much you just want to play it over and over again until it makes you sick and you cant bear to hear it for about 5 years. Well, for us at least, this is one of those tunes. Olav Basoski has delivered a mix which will only confirm his superstar status as one of the worlds leading producers. This has big, bass driven drums, which work the track into a disco fuelled, driving monster with carnival style piano licks and congos. Our favourite is the Dub mix by Chus & Ceballos - it's a deep tribal style tune that has a groove all of its own, deep, raw beats are worked magically into the firing groove. Watch out for these two, they are going to be massive.

Rubber Souls
"Can You Relate"
Released 12.11.01
Cat No.MDR9646-1

Moody are back with a vengeance with Rubber Souls and there is something here for everyone with mixes coming courtesy of Plastic Avengers and the mighty Mojolaters. Rubber Souls have had heavy support in the last year from the likes of Xpress-2 and Eric Morillo, and judging by this set of mixes it's no wonder why. After their massive, yet to be released hit 'Drifting', Modjolators show us that they are well and truly the new kids on da block. Peak time mixes that definitely wont disappoint - some amazing feedback from the biggest of jocks like: Eric Morillo - 9/10 absolutely fantastic stuff...more please; Fred Everything (2020 vision) - Plastic Avengers deliver a very good deep flow; Danny Tenaglia - 9/10 - Plastic Avengers mix is the one for me.

Two Guys With Tits
"Topless EP"
Released 12.11.01
Cat No.MTR2120

Santos returns with a bulging EP of pure quality. The 3 tracks are equally strong, but our favourite is 'Woody (Musique)', which is not a million miles away from Daft Punk. Electro house at its best, that is certain to Buzz chart In the following weeks. The A-side consists of 2 tracks that are very percussive orientated that peaking and droping several times to work the floor into a frenzy.

Peran Van Dijk
"Good Time"
Released 12.11.01
Cat No.RR005

Peran Van Dijk is a old familiar member of the Dutch dance scene, due to the fact that he has been the mastermind, together with Wessel Van Diepen, known for the Vengaboys, Alice Deejay and many, many other house classics. 'Good Time' instantly entered the Dutch Dance Charts, after being released in Holland. RR Recordings was founded in the early stage of the year 2001, to create a succesfull buzz around the track: Mystery - The Mystery, which was picked up and released by Inferno Records. After the great succes of this release, Spinnin Records decided to make the RR label a test case label by pressing up a 1000 promos of every project, before deciding whether the release will be an official release or just a promotional copy run.

DJ Tattoo
"Lost World"
Released 12.11.01
Cat No.EVENOVA016

The German production duo of Marcus Welt and Ralf Merle are no strangers to success having had releases on some of Germany's biggest independent labels such as Noom, No Respect and Fog Area. This time they are joined by one of Germany's rising DJ stars DJ Tattoo for this Evenova release called 'Lost world'. The main mix on the A side is a definite builder which will please even the most hardened clubber, having omitted the main melody which is present in the other two mixes on the flip. Warm and crunchy, it utilizes all the effects and riffs from the original, while leaving out the main melody for a dynamite-packed punch. The B side, as already mentioned, features two more melodic mixes which will undoubtedly appeal to the more commercial dancefloors with its accessible riffs and vocals.

Powerplant
"Angel"
Released 12.11.01
Cat No.TEK008

Label boss Bill Hamel is no stranger to the scene. He DJs all over the globe and has recently found a niche in the market with his own blend of prog house. He has just recently completed a remix of the new Delirium single for Nettwerk, which Paul Oakenfold has been raving about. Bill has also recently signed a singles deal with Ministry of Sound, which will see him raise his profile to the next level. On another production note he's had tracks signed to Bedrock, Hooj Choons and Perfecto. Teknology has a good pedigree with releases from Digweed-faves Sphere, Blackwatch and Bill himself. Here he has provided his finest release yet which is picking up stunning reactions everywhere. The original mix created by Hamel is a stunning tough dancefloor-destroying track and the mix contains a restructured vocal, which has been redone (obtained from a well-known group from Bristol!) and is hard as nails prog! The flip is a techier, bass-driven interpretation by Florida stalwart Medway.

Red Drivers
"Get Ahead"
Released 12.11.01
Cat No.MTR2118

Already getting dancefloor coverage from Danny rampling, Eric Morillo and Darren Emerson, Santos' label serves up a delightful and excellent two track offering which is bound to receive more plays from the aforementioned jocks. The 'Trinacria Club Mix' is a pulsating, percussive disco influenced groove which comes complete with a wicked vocal, clever arrangement and a booming B-line, one of those real floor shakers. The 'Trinacria' dub is a more Julsey type mix that will go down a storm at clubs like Gatecrasher, God's Kitchen etc, plenty of beef, hoover nioces and killer basslines are the order of the day.

DJ Vitamin D
"That Latin Track"
Released 12.11.01
Cat No.IHR9063-1

An excellent Afro-Latin influenced double pack from the label that brought you the top 10 hit Hataris' 'Space invader'. DJ Vitamin D brings you an array of top notch mixes that will cater for everyone: side A is the original mix that's been featured for the last 4 weeks on Radio 1 and Kiss FM. A great song, sung with great feeling, certainly in the Roger Sanchez mould but also distinctive enough not to be confused. The lovely chords really set the vocals off with a nice melody towards the end of the track, it all sounds simple, but to great effect. Billy Lo and Hataris go for the more driving disco style that wont disappoint, while Kiko goes for the more deep, groovy late night style for the more discerning listener. Phatts & Small prove their strength once again with their trademark cut up disco-charged, twisted house mix that is pure peak time action. DJ Nique adds his more breakbeat feel but keeps to the original very nicely and sweetly.

Bazooka Joe
"Heavy Hitters"
Released 12.11.01
Cat No.EM010

Bazooka Joe has steadily built a name for himself as he continues to put out the best hard house which is perfect for DJs and clubbers alike: full of pace energy and plenty of bounce, and these two tracks are no different. First up on the A side is the Smoking Burt Cooper mix, a hard, tough, rocking track, full of banging bass, crazy drops, sped up vocals and mental breakdowns. On the B side, the original mix, is more on the bouncy side, but still has all the necessary hooks, drops, rocking beats and pulsating energy.

Anti Band
"Fuckin' Rock & Roll"
Released 12.11.01
Cat No.RICE001 / RICEY001

First up for new label Special Fried Recordings sees this Italian anthem from Expanded, the label that brought you Santos, reach our shores. The first 12" caters for the harder floors with a Picotto-esque vibe on the Extended and Tribal mixes - tough Italian techno based trance. The second 12" goes off at a tangent, reflecting the nature of Special Fried, with two storming mixes from Champion Burns. The 'Majestic' mix is a funky 4/4 affair on a tough Subliminal tip and the 'MJ' mix on the flip rolls the breaks. This 12" also includes the cheeky 'bell-apella'. Special Fried aims to cover a broad cross section of dance vibes and this first release is a strong indicator of the quality to come.

Praga Khan
"Injected With A Poison"
Released 12.11.01
Cat No. NUKFA0238 / NUKFB0238 / NUKFC0238

'Injected With A Poison' is a rarity: a tune that has managed to reach the top of its genre twice over the space of a decade. One of the defining records of the heady rave era of the early 1990s and now a hard dance classic. With the reputation of this track as a bone fide hard house classic secure due to the legendary BK & Nick Sentience remix, we have broadened its appeal by commissioning a series of remixes suitable for all leading tougher genres of dance music:

Krafty Kuts - The breakbeat master has consistently delivered sterling work on labels such as Finger Lickin, FSUK and Norman Cook's own Southern Fried label and his mix of Praga Khan is receiving dub plate support from Freq Nasty, Stanton Warriors and the Plump DJs in the nu skool breakz scene and So Solid, Heartless Crew, Masterstepz and EZ on the UK Garage circuit. Crossover indeed!

Ca-Lo - The fellow Brightonians scored accolades from Pete Tong, Deep Dish and co. with their debut release 'Divine Intervention' at the beginning of the year. Since then 18 year-old Harry Diamond and Dave Pannell have turned in remixes of Binary Finary's new effort on Bonzai and Miss Shiva's 'Dreams' on VC. Aimed at pumped-up tribalists.

K90 - Legendary cuts 'Deliverance' and 'Bomb Jack' and remixes of anthems such as Jon The Dentist's 'Imagination' have made K90 a firm favorite with Judge Jules, Fergie and the party massive.

Original (Adam's Power Mix) - The increasing popularity of Old Skool events mean that original versions of rave classics are a valuable commodity amongst record buyers. To this end, 'Injected...' will feature on Mixmag's October cover mount CD 'I Love 1992'.

Baby Doc - Massive on the 90's dance scene with releases on their own Arriba Records and React Records. They were the pioneers of the Nu-NRG scene in London and kick started the Hard house scene as we know it. The Baby Doc remix has been supported by every hard dance DJ in the UK from Judge Jules to Lisa Lashes.

Released 12.11.01
Cat No.FLR031

A double A side offering, proudly bringing you the big riff tune in a very usable 12". First up is 'Unknown Origin', a bleeped out builder that starts mellow and rises to the blissed out breakdown - then wham! Locked back into the groove, bouncing and bleeping into the night. A top tune that has already made it's way onto the upcoming Parks & Wilson compilation on Bliss Recordings. Next up is 'Lazy Dayz', the tune that all the big players are spinning: Digweed at Love Parade the Essential Selection; Sasha at Creamfields and Space in Ibiza, as well as Bedrock (London - 3rd B'day) and then Tribal Sessions on the Friday (at Sankey Soap 1st B'day in Manchester); Pete Tong on his Radio 1 Friday night Essential Selection. The fifth instalment on Ariel's imprint is a rousing Latin anthem. 'Santa Fe; is a pumping house groove, that Freedom and DTPM resident Ariel has created and features a relentless two-chord flamenco line throughout and a selection of beautiful multi note flamenco guitar lines reminiscent of Carlos Santana. The AA side is a lighter version of the track with less stomp factor than the A side. Ariel's trademark tight production is outsanding with builds & drops in all the right places.

Already a well-known name on the hard house scene, Tweek is winning many new fans with each improving production. This one is not your predictable hard house fare and showcases his growing talent. Avis Van Rental is another Ingo alter ego and his fans will not be disappointed as he delivers another fantastic, energetic remix.

Muneca

After recent forays into a harder sound, Tuff Twins Recordings goes back to its roots with this tuff disco number. Guaranteed to put a smile on your face and party people on your dancefloor, 'Boogie Fresh' features an irresistible disco loop blended with tuff beats, whooping synths and distinctive chanted vocals. Not much is known about this talented South American producer, accept Muneca (pronounced Mun-yeah-ca) loves his disco and has produced a memorable party number. The Rockafellas are flavour of the moment (their latest release 'El-Astik!', was hammered by Judge Jules, making it 3 releases in a row supported by him) and this mix brings us their own unparalleled style of hard-edged house. It builds and builds into an unstoppable groove as they toughen things up while retaining the disco flavour that makes this track so special.
