Halogen
"Charged"
Released 29.10.01
Cat No.EVE01049

The 49th release on Eve Records comes courtesy of production duo Pablo Gargano and Kevin Griffiths. Their last outing on Eve (number 38) was included in the Renaissance compilation mixed by Deep Dish and earned plays and respect from DJs from both sides of the Atlantic. Tribal infused funkyness with a subtle touch of bassline and filtered metallic stabs create one hypnotic groove that is 'Charged'. The flip is a slightly more full-on affair, with filtering riffs and a thunderous breakdown. Coming up are the celebrations for EVE's 50th release, and they'll be doing it in style....

Ilogik & M Ramone
"King Of Rock"
Released 29.10.01
Cat No.EM008

Both of these talented producers have steadily built a name for themselves as they continue to put out hard house which is perfect for DJs and clubbers alike. Full of pace, energy and plenty of bounce, these two tracks are no different. 'The King Of Rock', which samples Run DMC, in a hard, tough, rocking track, full of banging bass, crazy drops, sped up vocals and mental breakdowns. The next track 'Make The Beat Pound', is more on the bouncy side, but still has all the necessary hooks, drops, rocking beats and pulsating energy.

K90
"Colours 2001"
Released 29.10.01
Cat No.RECOVER10

K90 shows us once again with this new release why he's one of the most hard-working artists on the live circuit. Taken from his forthcoming album (due out in march 2002), the double whammy of 'Colours' and 'Hyper Intelligence' is set to consolidate his rising-star status, and convince even the most hardened sceptics of his talent. The A side opens with a reworking of the classic 'Colours'. A firm favourite with K90 fans, it has always been one of the main tracks featured in K90's gigs and contains all his classic hallmarks. 'Hyper Intelligence' on the flip is again classic K90: filtered synth lines, triggered riffs, washy pads and massive melody lines all sprinkled with a good dose of offbeat stabs and nervous hi-hats.

Purple & Ronan
"Future Blue"
Released 29.10.01
Cat No.TRA065

Purple & Ronan have produced a futuristic slice of tech-trance with strong house undertones. A big, dark, synth line is the key component of this track, a fine selection of less obvious riffs and synth lines are layered into the mix with skippy percussion patterns and a funky-ass bassline driving the track along. Flip it over and you're treated to a moody, progressive remix of 'Future Blue' in which the main riffs from the original are drenched in reverb to give a dubbed out effect and a low frequency acid line is played in a jazz-funk style which adds extra groove to the mix. Has had dancefloors at clubs such as Bedrock absolutely rocking.

Liquid DJ
"Liquidation"
Released 29.10.01
Cat No.UTD11

The original mix is produced by Club Caviar, who were responsible for the winning mix of Lock & Load's 'Blow your Mind', and once again demonstrate their formula to great effect. On the flip, Marco V stamps his authority with a harder mix, which has already been getting strong support at home from DJ Tiësto.

Hard Soul
"Never Gonna Stop"
Released 29.10.01
Cat No.HSP2002

The latest installment from the Dutch house masters Hardsoul. Out of the United Recordings stable this is good time house music at it best. The original mix with its uplifting vocal and funky guitar will have the crowds singing all the way to the dance floor, and if the reactions of early plays are anything to go by, this could be a serious contender for crossover success.

Charlie May
"Bug"
Released 29.10.01
Cat No.BRG021-1

"Charlie May is a name that may be familiar to some of you. He was in seminal progressive band Spooky and is the man behind the Scorchio collaboration, as well as being the man that pushed the buttons for William Orbit on Madonna's album. Clever guy basically. On the 'Bug' EP Charlie takes us on a bit of a musical journey. 1st track is 'Behemoth' which starts like Kraftwerk and then develops into a beautiful piano led track. This is sharply followed by 'Lost In Haste', a moody driving record that sounds like Basic Channel running with Sasha. 'Feeding The Hand That Bites' takes you on a musical mind-fuck of a trip with 'GKP' (an alternative mix of 'Behemoth') finishing the EP. It's in an amazing sleeve and cut supa-loud on 2 bits of vinyl."

Saviour is writer and producer Joel Edwards who has teamed up with Matt Shwartz (M Black) as co-writer on this track. 'Justify' is an hypnotic, house groover with a catchy male vocal refrain complimented by a selection of sweet female vocal lines and ragga-style chants. Dave Seager
"Junk Drive"
Released 29.10.01
Cat No.UNC12009

'Junk Drive' is one of the grooviest mo' funkers you will hear this year.In its original form this cranking lil' beauty will put a gentle bounce on your dance floor and just like Bob, this is a builder. The track has a gentle little knack of crunching out layers of lush squelching tech driven twists and arse shaking grooves. Beats are met on demand and with a killer break down to boot.Standing to attention on the remix duties is our own Brian Stillwater with duty dub official Alex Garniel. The pair blatantly deliver a fierce reworking of the original with a chugging dark edge with the riff twisted out and spread across the track nicely, taking us in to the breakdown in perfect motion.

DJ S
"Walk With Me"
Released 29.10.01
Cat No.ANODYNE04

Azuli's new house imprint label returns for probably their strongest outing to date, 'Walk For Me'. Not much is known about this artist but when the music is this good...who cares? DJ S is one man by the name of Salvatore Catabiano who, judging by the quality of this track, is destined for big things. This is a funk-fuelled, deep, driving tech-disco workout, which uses the toughest of basslines, grooviest of stabs and melodies, hard percussion and rolling beats, creating a pulsating, dynamite groove, layered with a hugely effective male vocal chanting "Walk With Me", While the flip offers a deeper dub, more stripped down, but still with the same energy and unstoppable groove.

"An offshoot of the infamous 'Azuli' label, Anodyne is set to be on a lot of peoples shopping lists...Watch out for the Anodyne!"
- Muzik magazine October 2001

The AA side is 2 remixes by the UK Hard Boys (Mr Doe & Mr Bunter), one of an unreleased track by Roosta & Andy Farley, the other of a track signed in Australia by The Kandy Kollective. "Exactly what this scene needs"
- IDJ

"Vital release, sweet as honey"

Brotherhood
"Never"
Released 29.10.01
Cat No.WAX007

Brotherhood provides the magic touch for Wax Recordings with the latest being a collaboration between Rob Davies (Spiller) and Julian Napollitano (JDS). The A side consists of a classic trance sound with some good use of vocals in the long euphoric breakdown while the B side mix gives us that 'big room' trance sound that is already starting to become popular in the super clubs throughout the country again. It's a high standard that you'd expect from these two very experienced producers and they certainly don't disappoint.

Man Into Space

Cat No.TTS008

Ben Kaye & Synergy
"Hard Pop Sausage"
Released 29.10.01
Cat No.HOTWAXTRAX011.2

Disc 2 of hard pop sausage is yet again another absolutely storming track, which has been causing mayhem amongst clubbers for several months. This track is a driving hard house monster filled with hard stabs and a very uplifting, nagging, in-your-face riff, along with hard percussion and boisterous bass which to make it a sure fire winner. There are two mixes to choose from: Justin Bourne delivers a rolling galloping bassline remix and Illogik adds a bouncy banger remix.

Vinyl Coup
"All Systems"
Released 29.10.01
Cat No.THM030

The first track, 'All Systems' has an enchanting two-way bass line that rolls through the track masterfully, combining well with the horns and bells that drop in throughout. It's very pleasant on the ear and extremely catching, and is certain to be popular amongst house DJs who like it pumping, as well as the usual hard house suspects. On the flip it's 'Count The Ways' which takes a slightly tougher stance in comparison to 'All Systems'. It comes with one fat, dirty, growling dog of a bass line, and some wicked stabs and drum rolls. It's hard house that doesn't try to be too hard, and yet still has all the strength and power to knock out the opposition with one killer jab.

Pathogen
"Dark Skies"
Released 29.10.01
Cat No.GA031

Good:As has been revamped with a fresh new image and logo for 2001. They have scored bigtime with Francesco Pico and Fu Man Chu, but they are still keen to be diverse as a label and not about "just one style". Found on a CDR sent by Barcelona resident Leszek Gasiorek, Good As immediately saw the potential of the 3 tracks on this tough slamming vinyl. Top driving progressive trance not for the fainthearted, already doing it for those that matter and requested by Scott Bond for the next 'Crasher album.

Junk
"Wildlife"
Released 29.10.01
Cat No.SS006

Junk are Joe Willams and Benji Vaughan. Joe Willams will need no introduction to many. He is one half of The Light, who are huge in the States and big favourites of Sasha, Digweed and Dave Seaman among other big names. He then formed PFN on 10 Kilo, which pulled in a whole series of new high profile supporters across the tech-house, progressive and breakbeat circles. Every track Joe is involved with seems to end up on many of the big DJ mix albums and with 10 Kilo he has had dance chart success, regularly appearing in the Cool Cuts, Buzz, Beats charts and also reached No 13 in the Club chart with his mix of Renegade Soundwave's 'Phantom' which was a massive club and radio hit that was nearly on course for the nationals! Benji is a multi-talented and prolific producer and musician who has a variety of guises from Cyberbabas, Prometheus to Process and Citizen Caned and does a lot of film and advert soundtracks. Junk, has just been picked up by a big Hollywood film called 'Rave Macbeth'. On this, their debut single, they deliver an outstanding package that is so deep its subterranean. ' Wildlife' is a chugging, pulsing, dancefloor monster that sits somewhere between tech, prog and tribal house while Latin Girl' is a straight-up, deep, tribal mother of a tune!

Last Man Standing
"Nothin'"
Released 29.10.01
Cat No.WALL004

Wallop continue their onslaught on the progressive scene with the new signing Last Man Standing. A name to look out for "Intastella" delivers a deep chunky percussive number which adds layer upon layer to create a hypnotic solid groove. On the flip and the original mix slows down the tempo and adds an extra dose of funkiness. The cool spoken vocal in the break takes us down to nothin', as the title suggests, and then without hanging around takes us straight back into the groove. Also, for those who want to play it loud, there's a tasteful acapella.
