Moshic & Landa
"Faza"
Released 15.10.01
Cat No.PB3007

"The Satellite / Pitch Black camp has crossed over into the East and linked up with progressive house newcomers Moshic & Landa. Being hailed as 'the Eastern secrets', they have taken the dance world by storm, and with upcoming releases on Pitch Black, Plastica, and Pipeline, it's no wonder why. 'Faza', is a dark and groovy piece that will take control of your senses and leave you breathless. The sophisticated drum patterns and twisted effects fall right into place, as the perfect definition of the tribal progressive sounds of tomorrow. The flip side offers a remix that is being hammered by the few who have it; an intense build up leads to an orgasmic breakdown will leave you gasping for air. The remix is definitely not for the weak hearted: Put it on and see what we're talking about."

Funkadory
"Good Times"
Released 15.10.01
Cat No.SOLIDSTATE001

"A true hard house classic is finally unveiled for the first offering on Chris B's Solid State label. 'Goodtimes' was championed by several key hard house djs well over 5 years ago when released on the now defunct Labello dance print, with Tony de Vit taking the track on to another level with a storming remix for a re-release in 1996. After months of tantalising selected dancefloors from a handful of acetates, this beast of a track is ready to roar into action from an imminent full release with 2 first class remixes on offer. Paul King (F1) retains the vibe from the original making full use of the devastating rave stabs that set this track apart from anything else you'll hear this year. Not to be out done, Andy Farley adds a slight twist to the original opting for a galloping groove in a storming remake that also has bags of dancefloor appeal."

Edition 98 of DJ MAG, September 01SURE PLAYER (Hard House reviews by Simon Eve - page 74)

"The astute Chris B scoops up another TdV classic, although the maestro's remix is not included here. Instead we get Paul King's respectful, funky and groovy 'F1 Remix', one of his best ever productions, and a more pumped-up and full-on interpretation from the man of the moment around these parts, Andy Farley. Either way it's a winner."

Edition 74 of MUSIK MAG, July 01VITAL RELEASE OF THE MONTH 5/5 (Hard House reviews by Mark Kavanagh - page 135)

Soul Providers
"Deep Inside Your Love"
Released 15.10.01
Cat No.SP024

"Spinnin return to form with the vocal-tastic 'Deep Inside Your Love', it takes you on another journey through the creative spirit of London's finest house producers. Deep inside the soul of this track, you will find the epicentre of this 'groove quake' on the dancefloor. After many succesfull remixes and productions on various labels, we are proud to present another highlight on the short though established life of the Spinnin record label."

Fusion
"Resistance"
Released 15.10.01
Cat No.JOOF6

"John 00 Fleming discovered 'Resistance' when he heard Matt Hardwick testing it out off CDR at his home superclub, Gatecrasher. John instantly signed it there on the spot. The original mix is a powerful trancer with a distinctly progressive feel to it. It has a tough, chunky, rhythm track as it's foundation, a grooving b-line is over the beats to get things moving nicely before shakers are added to the percussion alongside an array of whooshy fx and a piercing string-style sound. Steve Porter has been busy of late with his own productions on Chris Fortier's Fade label in his native USA and a host of quality remixes on the best prog house labels. His remix of 'Resistance' takes it in a more deep and funky direction and has already been licensed to a Parks & Wilson compilation coming out on Bliss recordings in the US. The original mix is featured on the 'Progressive Euphoria' CD mixed by John 00 Fleming and on Graham Gold's 'Trust The DJ' CD."

Ben Kaye & Synergy
"Hard Pop Sausage"
Released 15.10.01
Cat No.HOTWAX11.1

"New artists for the Hotwax stable are Ben Kaye and Synergy who certainly deliver the goods on their first release. 2 storming mixes all different in their own right, the original mix is the harder of the two, which infects your brain like a virus does a PC. On the flip Ingo drops one of his stadium house breakdowns which is both bright and bouncy and which definitely won't disappoint."

Behemoth
"EP 2"
Released 15.10.01
Cat No.HIVE002

"Tom De Neef, famous for his countless releases and remixes for Defected and Fluential is the man behind Hive Records and we are very excited indeed. Of the three tracks on this EP, its Houzy Dizko that remains the standout cut with a fine selection of big name DJ reactions coming through like, Murray Richardson (2020 vision / Worldwide) "wicked release will chart top 5", and Dom Moir ( vinyl addiction) "very good 10/10", and so on."

Bobby Peru
"It Ain't Where You're From"
Released 15.10.01
Cat No.VIS067

"Everybody's favourite house label returns to give you another journey into pure house music at its best, with the return of Bobby Peru, who delivers his follow up release to his previous two tracks called 'War Games' and 'My Name Is'. Not only is Bobby, 'Back To Basic's' resident DJ, but also a prolific producer. He has recorded two EPs previously for 20:20, working alongside Yousef under their 10000 BC guise, as well as recording under his Wack Daddies name for house label Under The Counter, The Snow Monkeys and future work for Darren Emerson's superb Underwater label. The A side provides a deep, driving, tech-workout, which moves along beautifully, using tough percussion, floor hugging drums and superb chords, builds and drops, which create a superbly mysterious, chugging house groove. The flip delivers a drum fuelled, tech-tribal, percussive workout, which builds into a frenzy of driving beats and effortless bass."

Noisefloor
"Ultrawave"
Released 15.10.01
Cat No.AMPS002

"Hard trance label Voltage kicks in with its second release, the massive Noisefloor's 'Ultrawave'. Licensed from Dutch label Combined Forces this track was never released domestically on vinyl, so is a doubley strong package, with an exclusive remix from Hennes & Cold. On the A side the original mix does the business combining so many flavours to provide you with a bouncy, techy, trancey builder, whilst Hennes &anp; Cold take the track deeper and harder. With phat kicks and a hard trance flavour this is guaranteed top dance floor fodder. Plug into Voltage and get charged right up."

Yoda
"Definitely"
Released 15.10.01
Cat No.TIDY159T

Yoda was picked up from German label Net records after the Tidy Boys had caned the track on their recent U.S. tour. They were so buzzed about the reaction from the crowd that they decided to license it for the UK. The original is a full on pumpin' trance epic with aggressive stabs, a euphoric riff and a bassline to damage any sound system in the land. The B-side remix comes from the DJ Scot Project who offers a more minimalistic take on the original but is equally as devastating.

Basilica
"The Amulet"
Released 15.10.01
Cat No.FLR030

'Fluid Recordings' have long established themselves as market leaders in their field, with a string of hits already under their belt and an outstanding artist and production roster. This release is by Paul Fitzgerald, who found fame back in the day spinning tunes with the likes of Sasha at legendary club Shellys and the Hacienda, receiving wide recognition for his production work and skill as a DJ.

Vinyl Groover & The Red Head
"Gotta Have House"
Released 15.10.01
Cat No.NUKP0368

A playa from the old skool, DJ Vinyl Groover has been spinning at raves across the globe before turning his hand to hard house. He has a strong following amongst young partygoers due to his legendary residencies at Helter Skelter, Dreamscape, Hardcore Heaven and through his inclusion on 1000's of tapepacks! Having made a serious dent on the hard house scene through their three releases on Nukleuz earlier on in the year, VG & The Red Head return with more classic shenanigans that'll rattle the cages of established players such as Lisa Lashes, Anne Savage and The Tidy Boys during their peak-time sessions.

Jon The Dentist & Ollie Jay
"Unreleased Project"
Released 15.10.01
Cat No.PHX12010

Finally, Jon & Ollie release the definitive trance mix of their classic (Tidy Trax) 'Imagination'. On the flipside, pertaining to their overview of the 'hard house debacle', the boys have a little bit of fun taking the poke with this cheeky little number (decipher the vocodered vocal!)

Deflect
"Show No Fear"
Released 15.10.01
Cat No.RHYSYN018

The Sub-Productions crew of Swain & Snell, (Baroque/Plastica) are joined by Antonia Lucas who has ably supported them on tracks such as Bang's 'Leave Me Alone' and have provided another top house number. Battered off acetate by Digweed, Tenaglia, Deep Dish and Lawler, the response has been huge everywhere. Unlike the dark tribal sound doing the rounds, this track has a richer, fuller sound making it more accessible to DJs from other genres and has received plaudits across the globe.

Various
"Session"

Cat No.THMCD001

Anyone familiar with the 12 Inch Thumpers label will no doubt be aware of the impact these boys have had on the hard house scene. Since the summer of 1999 we have been graced with a continual flow of quality, underground UK hard house.

Fantastic Plastic Machine
"Whistle Song"
Released 15.10.01
Cat No.BRG024

The 'Whistle Song' was licensed from Japan and is a cover of the Frankie Knuckles classic in a Latin house style. The A side is shear class, using jazz fuelled beats, Latin percussion, flutes, gorgeous vocals and superb melodies to create a warm, sensual, sexy groove. The flip has been remixed by the London garage master Grant Nelson.

"Knuckles classic and gentle 'Whistle Song' is given a lovely make over with a laidback samba slant. The double bass boings its way along in a typical samba fashion and shakers and wooden block add the slow swinging samba percussion. Cello and a violin section play rich thick string parts that pull at our very own heartstrings. Male and female vocals scat their way through the samba that has just enough floor appeal from the beating kick drum to keep even those that don't know about dancefloor jazz happy. The combination of those soul tugging strings and the sweet flute solo must stir something deep inside the four to the floor gang"

DJ MAG review - 11-24 August 2001

Weirdo
"Devil's Plaything"
Released 15.10.01
Cat No.RIB047

Weirdo, the hardest man in trance has pulled another one out of the bag - he is unstoppable! Weirdo you really are a dirty, filthy young man. If 'Say Yes' was the Church of Tinrib then flip your crosses upside down because Weirdo has gone bad. He lures you into the euphoric trap with those chords of his, but this time it's less wave your hands in the air and more stand in the middle of the dancefloor and roar. An animal of a track.

Greed
"Promises"
Released 15.10.01
Cat No.MECH005

Mechanism return with brand new mixes of the infamous Greed feat. Lesley - 'Promises', which was originally available through Sog Records and was featured on Danny Howell's Nu-Breed Compilation out last year. The original mixes were hammered by everyone from Sasha to Lawler. Sleepfreaks have provided this classy mix. Similar in style and structure to their mix of Delerium's 'Silence', their mix of 'Promises' is set to feature in many DJ boxes this summer. The Flight Attendants mix is a trancier version of the original mixes and is sure to appeal fans of Oakenfold and Max Graham.

Cindy Laser
"The Man I'd Die For"
Released 15.10.01
Cat No.EVENOVA015

The label that brought you Fast's 'Transmission' (signed to Cream), Jose Amnesia's 'Eternal' (signed to Virgin) and Smartboy's 'Transformer' (signed to ZTT/Vision) does it again with another stormer from Italian producers Alex D'Elia and Andrea Doria (responsible for various releases on Incentive, Infusion, AM:PM, Additive, IDJ Cream, VC and Skint). With all the hallmarks of a classic, 'The man I'd die for' comes in the shape of two mixes: the A side making the best use of the vocal while never descending to it's cheesier levels and the flip concentrating on the main melody line and the easier production elements.

Bitcrusher
"Reverse Situation"
Released 15.10.01
Cat No.TELICA33

With Bitcrusher's previous release gaining plays and support from Radio One supremo Pete Tong, this has all the hallmarks of another classic. Throbbing rhythms and pulsating riffs carry the main track with heavy filtering of the main riffs, luscious synth washes and eerie vocal samples contributing to the atmosphere of the tracks. The stop-start feel of the first Bitcrusher release is still present, as well as the intricate drum programming, this time with a little added sophistication. The flip being a more drum based affair, it runs busily along filtering in and out of bongo riffs and fasing metallic loops offering a harder take on main label Eve's more progressive releases.

Ariel
"Out Here"
Released 15.10.01
Cat No.A704

Freedom and DTPM resident Ariel has created an infectious club track based around a powerful, timbale led rhythm. Jim Morrison's infamous "Out Here We Are Stoned" speech is the secret ingredient, which floats out of the speakers during the breakdown in the middle of the track. Jangly guitar riffs from The Doors are also used to devastating effect. The Instrumental also works really well.

"...typically, Ariel keeps his head down and nails everything to the floor, with its deep kicks, underwhelming percussion and the simple and withdrawn use of the vocal all adding to the coolness of the track. However, don't be misled - this kicks butt and will be a welcome and unusual addition to any DJ's set".

SK 8/10 - Wax Mag - Sept 2000

Natural Born Grooves
"Kick Back"
Released 15.10.01
Cat No.SPOT48

That cheeky groover is at it again with another thumpin' slice of Proggy mayhem. Following hits like Positiva's 'Groovebird' and XL's 'Forerunner', J. Van Rijswijk's NBG outfit returns with another slice of ferocious Dutch house. Championed by Judge Jules in its original form on Radio 1, the track has already built up a mighty head of steam. Following his much smashed 'Squelch' release, Tom De Ridder delivers a huge variation on the theme with his TDR remix. Freshening the pack further for the UK mix comes the mighty Lee Coombs mix. Following his recent 'Future Sound of Retro' LP, Lee turns in a belting slice of funked out forward thinking House Music to rock the deeper rooms.
