Klubheads
"Here We Go"
Released 1.10.01
Cat No.DNA314

"The mighty Klubheads are back with their massive follow up to the single 'Hip-Hopping' which ended top-10 in the Dutch natioanl charts. 'Here We Go', is classic Klubheads, combining Dutch bounce with the funkiness of UK nu-style hard house. Its well produced, simple and it rocks along with a full on party chant which will make your shoulders twitch. It's exploding out of London's gay clubs now, and its Dutchtastic."

Satoshie Tomiie
"Virus"
Released 1.10.01
Cat No.SAW006P

"One of this year's most successful US dance labels releases its biggest track to date, Satoshi Tomiie's 'Virus'. This is 11 minutes of pure listening pleasure. Pete Tong has already described Saw Recordings as his favorite label and this is a special edition etched vinyl in a unique sleeve."

Random Factor
"What I Need"
Released 1.10.01
Cat No.VIS068

"Carl Finlow is like a fine wine: he improves with age, whether he is recording or playing live under his solo Random Factor or Silicon Scally pseudonyms as well as rocking the worlds finest clubs with his superb DJ talent. For over 5 years now, Carl and Ralph Lawson have been responsible for supplying the soundtrack to thousands of nights out and for hundreds of thousands of people with their hugely successful 2020 Vision remix partnership. Acts like Fat Boy Slim, Blaze, Felix da Housekat, Arthur Baker and Jori Hulkkonen have all benefited from a touch of northern digital lip gloss, and with Ink Records' Prophets of Sound artist next on the hit list, it's time to pay homage to this prolific producer. Once again, 'Random Factor' will bring the crowd to their knees, with this awesome three track E.P. of house groove excellence. These tracks have been road-tested down the West Coast of America during a high profile tour with Doc Martin, Craig Richards and Ralph, and also most recently at Fabric and La Batofar in Paris."

Ryan Maunder
"The Reach"
Released 1.10.01
Cat No.BS004

"The first 3 Bluestone singles gained heavy radio support from Graham Gold, Andy Morris and Paul Van Dyk, and were also licensed to several compilations including Gatecrasher, Slinky and Pete Tong's Twisted Beats for Warner Music. The label focuses on dancefloor music, aimed at making people go crazy and 'The Reach' is a driving progressive number. Full-on dancefloor mayhem. 'Substate' on the flip side is a more tribal pumping affair that's been hammered by Andy Jarrod and Kasey Taylor. It's a little deeper and so will be favoured on the cooler floors. Ryan Maunder is just 22 yrs old but has been producing for several years. He has recently had singles signed to Hope and Perfecto as well as Bluestone."

>Ilogik / Mobi-D
"Play The Game"
Released 1.10.01
Cat No.THM025

"After its enormous success earlier this year, 'Play The Game' has been given a second shot at dance floor destruction, but this time round it's the turn of Ilogik and Mobi-D to do the damage by giving this wicked in ya face floor shaker the remix treatment. Ilogik's mix is a dark and long affair with subtle hints of progressive trance laced intricately over a growling dirty bassline and some blinding acid twists and turns, whereas the Mobi-D mix is a much harder effort: full of noise and extremely destructive. There's many a hardcore element to be found in this bumpy, twisted remix - ferociously aggressive and definitely not playing the game by the rules."

Freeloader
"Freeqwency"
Released 1.10.01
Cat No.BIN003

"With future releases already appearing on Pete Gooding's Mixmag covermount CD things are definitely on the up for this exciting double act. Something fresh and exciting from 2 very talented lads and a welcome change from the ever-increasing supply of prog-house. The A side is a chunky funky house excursion that works so well on a club system. Dark and dirty in it's nature, but accessible to many DJs, this track is getting heavy rotation across the board. Fucked up vocals create the hook that pulls you in and keeps you locked. 'Minimal Groove' on the flip strips things down even further but adds more percussion creating a pure house track, again with creepy distorted vocals. Tim Scott and Stephen Bent have been working together for some time and have had success as Bug for Serious Records, Freeloader for Toko, Cube for 3 Beat and under their Polekat pseudonym they've recently had 2 singles signed to Renaissance. Working with vocalist Dani G they've also ventured into writing full songs, one of which, 'Runaway', is currently causing a stir with some of the majors including Positiva and Manifesto."

Missy Elliott
"Superfreakon"
Released 1.10.01
Cat No.7559672550

"Finally available after a mountain of licensing and legal difficulties, Code Blue, via Eastwest, provide the massive Superchumbo mix of Missy Elliot's 'Get Your Freak on'. This has received massive interest from all concerned via a few well-placed bootlegs around May time and now they are available to one and all. Licensed to the MTV in Ibiza compilation, a Radio One Essential New Tune on the Essential Selection in June, Pete Wardman tune of the week on Kiss FM, played by Graham Gold on Kiss FM and Coolcuts No. 3 and Buzz Chart No. 3!!!!!"

Alumina
"Hyperspeed"
Released 1.10.01
Cat No.STIM12020

"Bringing the Stimulant catalogue up to a respectable 20 releases are Alumina who deliver their 3rd single for the label with the massive 'Hyperspeed'. Aimed at the party end of the hard house scale this little gem is chock full of catchy riffs, infectious hooks, and cheeky rap vocals all spread over a base of chunky but funky beats. The boy wonder, Ingo delivers one of his best mixes yet on the flipside, giving a nice contrast to the original track. As featured on the Tidy Girls' 'Annual'."

Zini & Kantini
"Big Beat"
Released 1.10.01
Cat No.NUKP0366

"Having been in the top 5 of the Dutch dance charts, 'Big Beat' is suitable for commercial punters and dedicated hard housers alike, and is ideal for the red label series. The original mix has a very funky bassline with chunky grooves and builds into a massive riff break with air horns going right off, making the track a peak time monster. The 'Jimmy Hammond' remix is more chunky and groovy than the original with a funky hammond organ playing in the break. This is a very cheeky but effective mix and is made for the havin' it podium crew and crazed dancefloor loonies."

Anthony Atcherley
"In My House"
Released 1.10.01
Cat No.12HPOT13-1
Cat No.12HPOT13-2

"Originally out in the summer of 98, the track went on to be sampled heavily by Ariel on his A9 hit (check out the original mix on part 2 of this 12). Back in 1997 - 98 Anthony was a firm favorite with Tony D Vit, Judge Jules, Pete Wardman and Steve Thomas. He returns in 2001 with some more funked up hard club business. After an awesome 2 years HoneyPot has come of age, and for the rest of the year the label has changed its game plan. The emphasis is on less is more. The 1st release after the summer is this project, followed up by the labels 1st ever compilation and 12" samplers, and then the year ends with the awesome 'Warehouse' by Jon Doe, which many a DJ is saying is the tune of the year, and Lee James' 'We Got Enough', which every label and his dog tried to sign. As Featured on the new 'Hard DJs' mixed by Stimulant DJs."

Murk pres. Dee South
"Tribal America"
Released 1.10.01
Cat No.BRG023

"What can you say about Murk? They will always hold a special place in our hearts for classic records such as Funky Green Dogs' 'Reach For Me', Liberty City's 'Some Lovin' and 'If You Really Love Some One', as well as the superb 'Been A Long Time'. Now they are back with a bang and their debut release for Junior, 'Tribal America'. Murk have produced another mind-blowing track with some seriously dark tribal business, big chants and congas. The don Oscar G remixes the track to perfection, giving it an extra touch of bass and siren effects: tailor made for 'Space' in Miami and coming to a dancefloor near you soon."

Captain Tinrib, Steve thomas & DFQ
"Fish!EP05"
Released 1.10.01
Cat No.RIB049

"A: The Captain & DFQ - 'Revenge'
Who could possibly resist a track that intros with a squeaky chicken which is quickly swallowed up by a Super-Delux Electrolux? A Gold Cup winning bassline (well DFQ is from Cheltenham after all) with squelchy, phat, Tinribized synths. You ARE gonna dig this Tinrib debut from DFQ with The Captain, whether you are on this planet or not.
AA: The Captain & Steve Thomas - 'Bigger & Bolder'
Dedicated to (& written after a slap up meal at) Tinrib's favourite curry house this is a funky little number with edgy sounds, scratches & bleeps giving it the groove. This is a quality hard house chewn with a riff to really get your teeth into. The Captain & Steve Thomas - what a pair of Rufty-Tuftys!"

Eagle's Prey
"Tonto's Drum"
Released 1.10.01
Cat No.PFT028R

"The second part to this release features the incredible Darren Emerson remix which is an absolute classic and still sounds fresh, and the Blackwatch remix which brings it up to date, giving it that essential progressive touch that will quite literally raise the roof."

"One of the finest and rarest moments from the first incarnation of progressive house finds its way back around. Two new mixes are packaged here, backed by the original and seminal Darren Emerson interpretation. Michael Thomas follows up his good work on the Trancesetters 'Synergy' with another excellent 'Blackwatch' remix. This is flipped with Darren Emerson's mix. Almost a decade later, this deserves a place in every record collection"

DJ Magazine review

Mark Wilkinson
"High Hopes"
Released 1.10.01
Cat No.KIDSOUND005

"Kidsound are currently on a roll at the moment after their Coolcuts featured debut single Spank - Everybody, followed by the darker and trackier cut Tantric Boogie - Temperature Rise and the uplifiting Native Soul - Bobby's Way, which have helped establish the label. The Kidsound brand has also been advertised widely throughout London in support of their new Friday-nighter at the Velvet Rooms, with well-known guests who are going to offer remix services on future releases. This release has been a priority for Mark Wilkinson (Problem Kids/Ministry), since he devised the label. It was originally featured on The Problem Kids first LP 'Pump Up The Dirty Groove' (out through Paper Recordings) and has been updated and refreshed for 2001. The track is Mark's personal favourite, and this is shown in the diverse quality of mixes."

Brothers Of Dub
"Same Frequencies"
Released 1.10.01
Cat No.FGD006

"The A-side is a deepish grooving house monster with heavy dub influences and some cool vocal samples. On the flip, flavour of the month Glen Nicholls supplies an amazing remix under his Future Funk Squad guise, which combines dub, house, reggae and purist breaks fantastically well. This mix has been sat firmly at the top of Forged partners and current Breaks kings Koma & Bones for the last 2 months. Glen has worked with most major players in the breaks scene having just recently finished a remix for Stanton Warriors. Brothers of Dub comprises Steve EZ and Sam Spacey. Steve has a wealth of experience and is most definitely an old dub warrior - you can hear the influences in the original mix. Sam Spacey is without doubt one of the finest engineering talents around and can turn his hand to any style. He's just had his superb 'No One Driving' single signed to Sony after a bidding war with another huge label. Judge Jules played this single each week for 2 months on his Radio 1 show. "

Steve Castro
"Hammertime"
Released 1.10.01
Cat No.RUDE024

"Rudeboy have consistently developed their sound this year, and have a string of new signings and licenses marking a turning point for the label. Their compilation album 'Lets Hear It For The Boy' is selling well, and the boys have just embarked on a nationwide tour of clubs. Licensed from Lube in Holland, this is a massive slice of Dutch hard house, with a speed garage style bassline and infectious Yomanda style riff breakdown."

"Forget The Past"
Released 1.10.01
Cat No.GA030

"Good:As has been revamped with a fresh new image and logo for 2001. They have scored big time with Francesco Pico and Fu Man Chu, and are still keen to be diverse as a label and not about "just one style". Good As continue their strong new identity with another cutting edge release. DJ Elite provides the remix and he is one of the top breaks guys of the moment who came to the fore only last year."

Digby & Oliver
"Human"
Released 1.10.01
Cat No.ZOT12013

"Jayson Digby and Gab Olivier are two of Melbourne's most highly regarded DJs, with a combined total of over 25 years behind the decks. 'Human' has already been single of the week in Mixmag and is about to appear on John Creamer's Ministry Mag covermount CD. Anthony Pappa also played Human on his recent mix for Digweed's radio show. The A side is as cool a piece of underground house as you'll find anywhere on the planet. Twisted vocals and an amazing break. The flip side dub goes deeper still. Gab has been busy carving himself a career in the studio, co-producing tracks such as 'Narcotik' (Blue, 12 Miles, Conditions), and 'Deep funk Project' (2 Heavy, Dirty Logic), all of which have had major support from main international DJs. His current DJ residencies include Melbourne's legendary 'Sunny' monthly parties and will soon be mixing the Zero Tolerance compilation album, entitled 'No Nonsense'."

Firewall
"Reflections"
Released 1.10.01
Cat No.ACT003

"Lange returns under his new Firewall guise on this scorching 3rd release from activation records. Championed by Scott Bond as an exclusive over the last four months, it has become a bonafide Gatecrasher anthem. Jock support has come thick and fast from Tiesto, Ferry Corsten, etc. Activation is A&R'd by Andy Perring, formally the leading light behind the Olmec Heads and more recently Pulser. This is a very high priority release for Activation with certainly the biggest name attached to the label yet."
