Christian Hornbostel "Back To The Music (disc 2)" Released 3.9.01 Cat No.SE12018R
"This is the second part to the stunning 'Back To The Music', which features the sublime vocal talents of Tommy Blaize, Craig David's main backing singer. The new remixes featured here take this track to another level. Austrian/Italian remix team Montesol provide a cool Summer old-skool house remix on the A-side, which has already been doing the rounds in the bars and terraces of Ibiza via a special mail-out out there, while Christian's own 'Deva Deep' mix on the flip will please the deep house purists out there. With remixes in the pipeline for Hooj, Additive, Sony, and Airplane out of Italy, this full 2 twelve release from Christian is about to solidify his reputation as one of the most exciting producers in the twisted and deep house genre."

Graham Gold "Fresh & Green" Released 3.9.01 Cat No.GA028
"Since Graham Gold gave up his Friday night Kiss show in December (but of course, still retains his Monday night show on Kiss 100), he is using the time spent on the show back in the studio, and after two remixes this year including the stunning remix of Lionrock for DMC, this is his 1st production of 2001."

Blackout "Dark Rhythms" Released 3.9.01 Cat No.EP1202
"To call it hard trance is understatement! With 'Transient State' you get that big bouncing / chuggin bassline and those pounding drums that will destroy anyone in its way. The track builds to a crescendo of filtered noises, with more twists & turns than Silverstone. Outta the break and into Armageddon. Flip it over to 'Deep Sprit' and you get a blinding lighter journey into quirky house, as we know it. Cheeky riffs galore. Still with the chuggy beats, but this time a little bit more 'up for it' The track does the business with its disco fuelled riffs and slick production, which leads you very nicely into the mother of all breakdowns."

A Project "Slammin Jammin" Released 3.9.01 Cat No.HPATRACKS2
"A Project slammed on to the hard house scene at the beginning of this year with the awesome Fantasy, which was followed up with a collaboration with Billy 'Daniel' Bunter on the massive 'Thank God Almighty'. 2 brand new tracks from HoneyPot's underground subsidiary A Tracks: 'Slammin Jammin' is on a hard and funky tip, with pumping bass, infectious riffs, catchy vocal hooks and enough vibe to send any dance floor going mad. A tough, funked up groove and driving, uplifting edge make 'Slammin Jammin' a dance floor favourite every time. Flip side does the business too."

Revolt "Freight Train" Released 3.9.01 Cat No.BED21
"Riding on the darker and deep waves of the progressive underground comes tomorrow's surprise 'Revolt', which is the brainchild of Dutch designer, label owner and producer Arno Asmus, who was also responsible for compiling the now famous 'Tranceporter' CD compilation series. Arno's production and talent were soon emerging to be a firm favourite with the likes of Nick Warren (who used the first Emotion release Revolt's 'Faster, Faster' on his Global Underground Budapest CD), Sasha, Digweed etc. Here, he demonstrates once again his superb arrangement of the finest of deep, dark, hard, hypnotizing grooves, which build into a wonderful cascade of sound. The flip has been masterfully remixed by the ever on form Funk Function, better known as Lucien Foort. A devastating remix, using hard beats, tough hooks and even tougher basslines, which create a deep, driving, dirty groove."

Dougal & M Ramone "Get In Funky" Released 3.9.01 Cat No.FRNP003
"Having mashed up the dancehall with their first stonking release, Frantic records return to the fray with yet another anthem for the hard house generation! The first outing was Defective audio's 'Circular Saw' which was heralded by Ministry magazine as the flagship release for the nu skool hard dance movement, achieving a top 20 position in their vital vinyl chart for august 2001. The second release is from a DJ/producer who needs no introduction: Paul Clarke a.k.a. DJ Dougal has been creating his blend of hardcore mayhem for the last seven years and has headlined the UK's biggest raves during that period, a man with an unparalleled heritage amongst today's hardhouse fans. His production partner M Ramone is the co-owner of Elasticman records, one of the north's premier hard house labels. 'Get In Funky' is a tough, pumping, driving, bass filled monster, delivered over two mixes, which both carry equal amounts of energy and pace."

Nik Denton vs. Paul King "Space Hopper" Released 3.9.01 Cat No.TIDY157T
"Tidy Trax debutant Nik Denton teams up with the legendary Paul King (Trauma, F1), for an almighty journey of thumping kick drums, rumbling basslines and euphoric riffs, which will raise the roof and rock the foundations of the sturdiest of buildings! 'Spacehopper' has already been terrorizing the nations dance floors at some of the best hard house venues in the country and overseas, now this blistering track comes to you with a colossal remix from Paul King, who delivers a pulsating, energy filled party monster under his psuedonym Overload. Like a modern day version of 'Techno Cat', this stormer of a track is basically a pumping peak time raver built around a motherf****r of a breakdown. Huge slabs of synth noise, high strings fading in and out, snappy high hats, suggestive rumbles, nagging riffs and some fantastic whip cracks all combine to make this a simple yet incredibly effective TDV style floor filler. SINGLE OF THE MONTH - MIXMAG - 5/5"

Private Taste "Space Hopper" Released 3.9.01 Cat No.AUTO25 Cat No.AUTO25CD
"Automatic Records are on a roll, after the sublime Electric Tease tracks 'Your Lovin' and 'Fever' (featured on John Digweed's L.A Global Underground and the new Satoshie Tomiie CD respectively), and the Brancaccio & Aisher mix of Quirk's 'Yebo'. 'First' is a powerful, percussive-led tune that evolves into an emotive, melodic, trancer midway through. The Ashtrax rerub is a hypnotic chugger that uses the key features of the original and a haunting siren style voice throughout to add to the ethereal feel. It's been a staple in Ashley Casselle's sets since March. The track has already been licensed to 6 compilations including, Guy Ornadel's Slinky CD, Danny Howells' Nocturnal Frequency 3, Max Graham's Tranceport 4 and Paul Van Dyk's forthcoming Ministry Mix CD."

Native Soul "Bobby's Way" Released 3.9.01 Cat No.KIDSOUND003
"After the success of the uplifting Spank - 'Everybody' (Coolcuts No. 19) and the deeper and moodier Tantric Boogie - 'Temperature Rise', Mark Wilkinson (Ministry/Problem Kids) returns with their cooler then cool release Native Soul - 'Bobby's Way'. Mark has ridden on the crest of a wave recently with the success of Kidsound Records and the release of his recent Problem Kids album through Paper. He has also managed to have one track signed to 'Fluential (Kidstuff - Alright) and the next Kidstuff release, 'Jetfunk' is set to go the same way. Mark has received a helping hand from Dave Jarvis (Faith/Beggars Banquet) and they have produced another slice of sublime, soulful house music, which is already firmly in the boxes of Ashley Beedle, Rocky and Diesel."

Planet Heaven "Predator" Released 3.9.01 Cat No.3BTT57
"Planet Heaven need no introduction as their productions have featured in many a DJ's record box, from their massive debut release 'Nautical Bodies' to their awesome remix of 'Above's' 'New Day Dawning' and their acclaimed 'Firefly' release. This record though, is without doubt one of Planet Heaven's best releases to date. The 'Electronic Tree Frog' mix is a powerful tough progressive workout that never lets up from start to finish, definitely one for the big rooms, whilst the 'Heaven And Hell' mix is slightly more melodic, yet tinged with an eerie evil bass - remeniscent of early Oliver Leib productions."
|
Dark Princess "Bongo Madness" Released 3.9.01 Cat No.BBR004
"Brother Brown is now a record label known for pushing the barriers of dance and this release is no exception. Deep, dark, tribal, funked up house are all words used to describe this latest release from Dark Princess. Hypnotic rhythms are blended perfectly with the haunting 'she loves me' vocal, creating a dark cascade of sound, while the heavy, intoxicating bass and rhythm will grab you and not let go. The flip captures the current tribal explosion and couples it with Latin elements, using deep, rolling beats to create a building groove of epic proportion. Previous releases on this label have been licensed to FFRR and Ministry of Sound."

Deepswing "In The Music" Released 3.9.01 Cat No.6714832 Cat No.6714836
"Based in Los Angeles, Erik & JD are the production/DJ team behind Deepswing. The pair met in 1993 and released their first single on Megatone records and since then they have recorded tracks for Yellorange, Soulfuric and Suntune. Originally signed to hip Italian label Time Records, 'In the Music' was one of the happening records from this year's winter conference in Miami. The record is already blowing up thanks to heavy support from Pete Tong and Danny Tenaglia amongst others. The track comes with mixes from Superchumbo (currently riding high with 'Revolution'), Jason Herd (otherwise known as 2Risque) and in original mix form has already been a Coolcuts top 5 record."

Unit "Velocity Indication" Released 3.9.01 Cat No.HOL0117700
"Straight off the boat from Holland come this tuff piece of techno. Unit is a project of John Consumulder who has released tracks on Basic Beat, Soma 103, Warner and Black hole. The 'Remake' contains an addictive funky bassline whilst retaining the original strings, but on the flip, the original is a much more Detroit rooted type affair and the 'Accidental' mix contains slightly more strings and effects."
|
Indirect "Goldrush" Released 3.9.01 Cat No.BLGD002
"Black Gold keep up their fine form with Indirect, a very up and coming artist. This one sided instrumental has all the necessary qualities to make this release stand out from the rest: superb basslines, killer hooks and chords, and big percussion which sits perfectly on the track."
|
Mobi-D "Underground Sound" Released 3.9.01 Cat No.THM028
"A rocking production from one of the many new artists climbing the ranks of the UK hard house scene, 'Countdown' is a full on in ya face bouncer. A short, deep, stabbing bass line rolls between the beats and breaks, whilst the disturbing countdown itself brings you down to some heavyweight grooves and cheeky little raps which burn together to create an energetic floor filler made up of three vowels and six consonants. 'Underground Sound' is a funky, uplifting production, with a large booming bass line and some magical stabs and samples that blend very well indeed to form a track that's not as ruff & ready as many other hard house tracks. It's got a clean, refreshing sound to it and will certainly appeal to the masses."
