Paul Glazby "F'kin Hostile" Released 19.5.03 Cat No. VCR020
A - F'kin Hostile
B - PH4
Now in the Top 3 hard house labels in the country, Vicious Circle is going from strength to strength. Consistently well-produced hard records is the ethos, and thats what they deliver, release after release. 2003 will be a big year for Vicious Circle. 2002 was fantastic for label boss Paul Glazby: scooping DJ of the year on the popular 4clubbers.net site along with many more awards from the likes of harderfaster.net, Paul has now made it to the forefront of todays hard house scene. Headlining events up and down the country as well as events overseas such as Australias famous Enchanted Forest, Paul is ranked by many as the best hard house DJ in the land. The 20th release on any label is a special occasion, which has to be celebrated in a certain way. Paul Glazby has planned to make a statement with this release, and a statement he has made. Already marked as a possible Tune of 2003, Fckin Hostile has to be one of, if not THE hardest tunes ever unleashed. The hoovers are rampant, the percussion is harsh, the acid line is twisted and the crowds love it. Not much more can be said about this release, it has to be heard to be believed. PH4 is a quality tune in its own right although all the talk will be about 'Hostile' due to its severity! Again the 303 acid sound is ever present in Pauls work - a fine B-side.

Tom Harding & Chris Hampshire "Comin' For Ya" Released 19.5.03 Cat No. RECOVER023
A - Comin' For Ya (DMFremix)
B1 - Comin' For Ya
B2 - Comin' For Ya (Vince Nysse remix)
Tom Harding and Chris Hampshire return to Recover fresh from the success of Were Back late last year a track that was licensed onto the Tidy Trax Insomnia and Dance Valley/HQ compilations. The dynamic duo deliver another cutting edged hard dance fusion in Comin For Ya, with hard house grooves, trance riffs and a distinctive vocal that will turn heads on the dancefloor. Needless to say this has already been thoroughly road tested in Tom Hardings sets at massive events in Holland, including the 25,000 capacity Impulz Festival, 4 Elements, HQ etc. Recharge label favourite DMF makes his Recover debut and serves up another floorfilling cut with plenty of uplifting qualities, and ignore the Vince Nysse remix tucked away as second track on the B side at your peril this is a riff fuelled monster for those who like to crank up the energy levels during their sets! Comin For Ya from three different directions in three different mixes. Can you handle it?

Colin Barrat "You Know" Released 19.5.03 Cat No. RETEK06
A - You Know
B - Techtonik
Following hot on the heels of Will Holmes & Castrillon's Gas comes this superb two tracker from Colin Barratt, and its another top quality hard house meets techno mash-up that Retek has built its reputation on. Despite having let just 2 CDR copies out of the office a couple of months back there was already a huge buzz on this release before the TPs were in. Why? Anne Savage included You Know on her Music For The Harder Generation compilation on Tidy Trax, and even trance master Lee Haslam was hammering this every set. Yes, this slab of techno fuelled hard house is so good that even the more open minded trance DJs are playing it. Remember 'Africaine' on Retek? This could well be a similar success story. Already awarded Single of the Month in Upfront ("Brilliant!") and rave reviews also in DJ Mag and M8.

A - This Is What You've All Been Waiting For

It was Daniel who coined the phrase 'hard dance' back in in 1997 with his album 'The Future Of Hard Dance'. Jon Doe is a studio genius and arguably the most influential artist in the rise of UK hard trance. As Mark Kavanagh from Muzik mag put it, "Nobody does the soaring, emotive, euphoric, dance floor destroying rave break down quite like Jon Doe." 'This Is What You Have All Been Waiting For' - What the fuck happened to 148 bpm + hard pumping NRG house music? This is unashamed hard house 2003 style!!! Fuck just rinsing hard trance, fuck tech-y credibility. This ones for the dancefloor that wants some pumping hoover madness. On the AA side, 'Under My Control' is UK hard trance at its finest: driving and euphoric, with enough hooks and dance floor bite that the biggest of sceptics couldnt resist. This has been a proven peak time anthem time and time again.

A - Go Fuck Yourself
B - The Other Side
Ben Kaye hits back with his second release on Tidy within two months, this time with two vicious journeys of hardness. 'Go F**k Yourself' does exactly what it says on the tin. Foot to the floor hard house with no messin'. This baby gallops along at a furious pace using quirky cuts, leads and the odd slowed down sections which are used to great effects making this a superb follow up to 'Constitution' and 'Techno-logy'. The catchy vocal works well when topped nicely with the fast moving and quite odd sounding riff. 'The Other Side' is the excellent alternative, combining solid production with a cool minimal feel. In other words a token B-Side which some of you might play out!

A feel good track, with a minimal yet catchy vocal that is guaranteed to get hips shaking and feet moving on any dancefloor. Already receiving big support from Pete Tong having clocked up numerous plays on the Essential Selection, as well as being included in his sets around Europe and of course Miami WMC 2003. Steiger "Postcards From The Edge" Released 19.5.03 Cat No. BED42 / BED42R
Disc 1:
A - Postcards From The Edge
B - Postcards From The Edge (Aurora mix)
Disc 2:
A - Postcards From The Edge (Edgeland mix)
B - Postcards From The Edge (Underdub)
Simon Rogers further develops his Steiger guise with the very best in forward thinking house music. Bringing a huge range of influences and diverse sounds along with a level of production synonymous with Bedrock, 'Postcard From The Edge' is released as two 12"s with mixes from the artist himself ranging from left of centre to driving tech house. A single 12" of breaks mixes will follow at a later date. Influences that include breaks, filmic and ethnic sounds alongside names like the Ballet Rambert, The Fall and Slacker scattered across his CV see Simon Rogers bring a heady mix of talent and influences to his work. The most interesting thing amongst all this, however, is not where hes been, but where hes going! Simon Rogers has co-produced with some of the most critically and commercially acclaimed artists in music. Tunes like Everything Starts With an E and Love On Love by Ezee Posse with Boy George and Jeremy Healy as well as Generations of Love by Jesus Loves You, saw his influence, success that led to a more fixed arrangement alongside Shem McCauley, initially as RAMP and later as Slacker during the 90s where they enjoyed success with the club classics 'Rock The Discotek' and 'Stomp' with Loaded, as well as remixes for D:Ream, Grace Jones, Sister Sledge, Armand Van Helden to name but a few. Ever pushing for diversity and something fresh to bring to the scene, Simon went on to record as Leuroj and T-Era for Loaded before leaving Slacker in 2001 to start the Steiger project. Postcard... is a hugely atmospheric, epic soundscape: released as two 12"s, Steiger bases the 3 additions to the original around the lush sweeping vocal hook of the original. Deep, searching vocals rise from the centre of the gorgeous melodic hook of Postcard, all brought together with a fantastic level of production. The superb original is combined with Steiger's own 'Aurora Mix' in the first 12", and the second, released on the same day, pushes the limits of the genre again with the astonishing 'Edgeland Mix', a driving, techy departure. The 'Underdub' on the flip goes much deeper, rounding out it's sounds in lush beats.

Spacefunk "Spectrum A DJ Mix" Released 19.5.03 Cat No. 63881271402
As a warm-up to the release of their debut artist album, Spacefunk are releasing 'Spectrum A DJ Mix'. Every tracks a classic, from King Britt's mix of Josh One's 'Contemplation', and Puretone's 'Addicted To Bass' to Timo Mass' remix of Moby's 'We Are All Made Of Stars'. Throughout the mix the boys are up to their old tricks, dropping acapellas over unlikely but for that reason, much more effective, funky house instrumentals.
Long before bootleg became hipster term of the moment to describe the sonic Frankenstein's of every bedroom producer with a Pro Tools rig and the cheeky wherewithal to put together unlikely pop songs into clever little dancefloor puns, Spacefunks Steve Travell and Andy 'Tex' Jones were DJs with deep record crates and an uncanny talent for doing something both totally new, but surprisingly familiar with their vinyl.
While DJing one night in 1998, the pair happened upon the sublime realisation that Daft Punks 'Around The World' paired with the vocals of a long-forgotten classic by early 90s pioneers Sub Sub worked better than expected. Soon the white label 'Rock Around The World/Funky Music' by a group calling itself Pussy 2000 was being hailed as one of the records of the year and was every self-respecting DJs guilty pleasure peak-hour anthem. Then in 1999, 'Its Gonna Be Alright' aka 'Pussy Blue' emerged, pairing a classic house vocal by Sterling Void with the Clashs 'Rock The Casbah', all in a thick funky house churn.
By 2001, Steve and Andy finally secured a proper US release of 'Its Alright Gonna Be Alright' via a singles deal with MTA/V2, which ultimately turned into a fully-fledged four album record contract.
They are simultaneously working on an their first ever studio album of their own tracks, inspired by the style-melding thats made them such clever but effective DJs all those years. Featuring collaborations with the legendary Caron Wheeler (Soul II Soul), Melanie Williams (original vocalist with Sub Sub) and Ian McCulloch (Echo & The Bunnymen), the album looks set to be a worthy addition to the roster of bonafide dance classics, following the likes of Fatboy Slim, Daft Punk and X-Press 2. Spacefunk are artists inspired by the dancefloor but not necessarily limited to it. Steve and Andy are shit-hot dance producers and an ace DJ team and 2003 looks set to be their year.

Various "ID&T present DJ Tomcraft" Released 19.5.03 Cat No. 7006552
The quintessential German DJ and producer, bald-headed DJ Tomcraft (real name Tom Brucker). He began working the decks at clubs as a teenager and was quickly snapped up by Kosmo Records, the ultra hip dance label based in Munich. Since then he's released a bunch of chart-topping singles, worked with a host of big names (Eniac, Sasha) and performed at some of the world's coolest venues (Frankfurt's Dorian Gray, Ibiza's Space) and raves (Love Parade, Mayday). Tomcraft started making waves on dance charts during the late '90s, with such hypnotic offerings as 'The Mind', 'The Circle', and 'Powerplant'. The latter two tracks were used as theme tunes for the popular sci-fi TV series The X-files. On the other hand, Tomcraft's single '25:17' was a track based on samples from Quentin Tarantino's cult movie Pulp Fiction. Since 1998 he has worked on scores of compilations, such as Sasha's famous Global Underground: San Francisco mix. In 2001 he released the aptly titled album 'All I Got', which featured all of his biggest hits. Now 2003 brings us ID&T present DJ Tomcraft, at the height of his career so far, with 'Loneliness' (forthcoming on Data/MoS UK) in most of the European charts. Various "Hard House Anthems mixed by Ed Real & Rob Tissera" Released 13.5.03 Cat No. 0523CNUK
Rob Tissera's versatile style and sound has seen him appear at some of the most prestigious clubs in the world. The clubbers at clubs such as Cream, Slinky, Ministry of Sound and Clockwork Orange have danced the night away to Rob's unique sets, blending deep and progressive trance, through to the downright hard and pumping house that has earned him legendary status at Sundissential. Rob's passion for the British clubscene can never be doubted. During his early days as a pirate radio DJ in 1990, Rob was unfortunate enough to be sent to prison for three months for being at the helm of an Acid House party. It was the largest mass arrest in Britain for over 500 years, with over 1,000 people arrested. It was so significant, that it ultimately changed government legislation.
Rob's sound has been heard and appreciated far beyond the shores of Britain. He's now a veteran of no less than eight Australian tours and has DJed in places as far afield as New Zealand, Canada, Germany, Sweden and America. He can also proudly point to the fact that he has DJed at every major club in Ibiza. The last four years of 27 year-old Eds life have been a rollercoaster. In his position as A&R at Nukleuz Records he has influenced the direction of the massive hard house scene whilst helping to take the label from obscurity to its position as the biggest-selling 12 label in the UK for the last two years. He has stepped up to the stage to collect the award for Dance Music Label of the Year at the annual Music Week shindig. As an accomplished DJ, Ed has travelled the world taking the Nukleuz sound to the people with regular trips to Oz, Japan, South Africa, USA and even war-torn Bosnia! Performing at 150 events per year one wonders how he fits it all in! In March 03, industry-bible Mixmag crowned Eds promotion Riot! the number one party in the UK. He also broadcasts on Ministry Of Sound radio and has produced number tracks including the Top 40 chart smash Sunshine On A Rainy Day as Real & Richardson.
