Cat No. SHAB060

A - Guana Bara
B - Guana Bara (dub)

This is the third outing on Shaboom for the trio named after a kinky rubber-suited-piss-pot-dweller- known as the Troffman! Following on from 'Hold You', 'Guana Bara' blends crowd noises recorded live by Soane in Rio, shuffling hi hats, solid, snappy beats, a bad ass chugging bass line and a keyboard hook that will infect your brain, and fuses the lot into a super funky house carnival melting pot. The efforts of Shaboom's very own super-busy Dick 'Magik' Johnson, Ben Davis and Soane (Paper Recordings) have really paid off. Guana Bara is so funky its wrong!

Vanguard are Asem and Axel from Hannover, Germany. They have released mainly via Frankfurt underground techno label Frisbee, where 'Flash' surfaced on promo in mid 2002. They are both accomplished DJs in Germany and play all major clubs and festivals. This year's most unique, if not only, Queen sampling record, Vanguard's 'Flash' gets a deserved release in the UK via Nebula. This record will be released as Queen + Vanguard and is being treated as an officially approved Queen release by Nebula / Virgin / EMI, and as a priority by EMI Worldwide. The CD also includes the unique video for 'Flash' that contains footage from the original cult Dino De Laurentis-produced Flash Gordon movie and footage of the band Queen from the original pop promo for 'Flash'. Remixers, Smith & Selway are bona fide techno heads and are well known for their releases on ultra-cool dance label Intec. Tomcraft is the new star of German commercial trance, known for his huge German hit, and soon to be UK chart hit, 'Loneliness'. Vanguard themselves provide two mixes the original extended mix and a rather nifty electro remix.

RR Fierce & DMF
"Full Metal"

Released 17.3.03
Cat No. FTR005

A - Full Metal
B - Full Metal (Paul Glazby remix)

One of the hardest and most severe tracks around, Full Metal is full steam ahead from the very beginning. With its twisted hoover and synth lines, this will definetely cause a stir where ever its unleashed! RR Fierce not only produced hard tracks he was a master of producing QUALITY hard tracks and this is a fine example. This track is so severe it should come with a public health warning attached! On the flip, Paul Glazby has delivered a fine remix to this already awesome track. The trademark Glazby sound has been stamped all over this and the dark bass and driving percussion gallop along until the introduction of Pauls version of the full metal hoover.

Fortunato & Montresor
"Imagine"

Released 17.3.03
Cat No. BED40

A1 - Imagine (Imagination 1 mix)
A2 - Imagine (radio edit)
B - Imagine (Pole Folder's Sense Of Imagination remix)

Fortunato & Montresor's 'Imagine' is re-released through Bedrock Records - a hugely atmospheric deep cut, its re-release is testament to the quality of a track that has lost none of it's edge and remains a brilliant house record. Despite all that, Pole Folder lends his 'Sense of Imagination' to the B-side with a dance floor remix firmly situated in 2003. 'Imagine' is a gorgeous, deep house track (Imagination 1 mix), with a down-beat breakier reinterpretation in the Radio Edit (previously unreleased on vinyl). If that wasn't enough, Bedrock's Pole Folder lends his own 'Sense of Imagination' in a brand new remix on the B. Here he produces a stuttering, deep house track with a huge character. All the familiar breath taking vocal elements of the original rise from this hugely atmospheric cut. A rolling bass hook and filtered female vocal fx cutting across the track produce a record with massive cross over appeal to the deeper, tech-y devotees. Once it gets going, there's no stopping what is unquestionably one of Pole Folder's most remarkable remix outings to date. It's easy to see why this is such a firm favourite of Digweed's and why it's release is so eagerly anticipated.

Frakkar
"Push"

Released 17.3.03
Cat No. FB019

A - Push
B - Emergence

The second full release for Swanseas Frakkar on Functional Breaks and this time Bob and Al have put together a double A side for Functionals 19th release. Following up from their debut single Slide which was featured on Global Underground 22 'Dave Seaman in Melbourne. Slide also saw support from the likes of Nick Warren, Hybrid, Hyper and Tayo. This release follows on with tougher beats than their previous release but keeps the progressive edge with some wicked sounds worked into the mix. You will be hearing a lot more from Frakkar through the coming year with mixes coming for a variety of artists including a breaks mix of Kirsty Hawkshaws Fine Day and their bootleg of a certain Aussie girls track Down Boy. 'Push' is aimed at the peak hour with its driving bass line, hectic breakbeat, and tech synth elements that lead to an emotional drop only to take things up another notch as the beats and bass come back in. 'Emergence' begins deep and slowly brings in a happy groove as the track progresses.

Guyver
"Trapped"

Released 17.3.03
Cat No. TIDYTWO118

A - Trapped
B - Differences

The first release from the boy wonder in 2003 and this time its a double header with a harder edge to it. Last Year Guy Mearns shot to fame for his releases and outstanding remixes not only on Tidy Trax but also on Tripoli, Y2K and Stimulant Records. Following on from 'Serious Sound' and 'Man On The Moon', Guy leads the way with 'Trapped'. A full on foot to the floor hard trancer that has won numerous friends on the floors across the country. 'Trapped' is more fierce than previous releases but still as uplifting and powerful as ever. On the flip we have 'Differences'. Powerful, fast moving and very infectious, this track complements 'Trapped' extremely well. Something for the front of your box? We think so..

Midway
"Inca"

Released 17.3.03
Cat No. ITWT346

A - Inca
B - Kung Fu

Midway's second release on In Trance we Trust, the follow up single to 'Monkey Forest', which featured on more than 20 compilations worldwide, and has recently been signed to Hooj Choons. This time Midway's back with 2 fresh new tunes. 'Inca' on the A-side is a very strong trance anthem, the flip side called 'Kung Fu', is a special one. Even though the track has a length of 10 minutes, it keeps your attention till the end.

Maelstroms sound is best described as quality electronic music with a techy edge. A new arrival at Amato, Maelstrom has a very solid profile with releases from Oliver Klein, Alex Flatner, Wheed Baskin, Marc OTool, Nic Vegter, SIA(!) and Groove Cyclone. Fred began his DJing career in the early 80s and championed the progressive sound long before it had even been thought of in the UK. Fred set up the genre shaping Sim, Journey and PROgressive Records. His productions have been hammered by the likes of Sasha, Digweed and Pappa.

Nu Rican Kidz
"Excuse Me"

Released 17.3.03
Cat No. 4100017130

A - Excuse Me (131 BPM mix)
B1 - Excuse Me (126 BPM mix)
B2 - DJ Tool

Everybody will put their hands up in the air at the middle of the track because of the progressive tension and because of the very, very sexy vocals. Two speeds for two different set hours: warm up and fiesta. Also a DJ tool, very useful for the mixes.

Quest
"Bitter & Twisted"

Released 17.3.03
Cat No. VR12023

A - Bitter & Twisted
B - Bitter & Twisted (Chable's Dirt Funktrain remix)

At only 22 years old, Luke Chables fresh grooves have been doing serious damage on floor across the globe, being featured in every noted DJs box, from John Digweed, Sasha, Carl Cox and Pappa, through Fortier, Jimmy Van M, Kasey Taylor and everyone in between. Now hes done it yet again with this release under his Quest moniker. Tough, techy, tribal progressive at its finest. Deep Sub Lines, chopped up stabs, sweeping synth lines and a bass drum that will literally hammer its way into your brain. The main mix opts for a straightforward tough approach, layered percussion builds and builds with groaning b-lines doing their business underneath. Chopping synth stabs punctuate from the second break onwards, adding a techno vibe throughout. Flip it for Chables Dirt Funktrain remix, a deeper, darker approach. This mix still carries the momentum of the original, but opts for a moodier feel and quite a different effect all together.

Raff vs Greenlow
"Propaganda 303"

Released 17.3.03
Cat No. OTRFT015

A - Propaganda 303
B - Propaganda 303 (Base Graffiti mix)

Irish wonder Raff returns to OTR but this time with a different studio partner, Grit Greenglow, and as the title suggests, they serve up an acidic monster! The original mix builds steadily from the beginning and leads into the first break, which is where we are first introduced to the tunes evil intentions. It's from here the first murmurs of the 303 line are heard as it increases its pitch and velocity. With all the hallmarks of a Raff production, the powerful atmosphere of the break takes hold and intensifies before exploding at the drop into a full on aural assault that will blow the crowds away! After the massive 'Race Logic', OTR just had to invite Base Graffiti back for the remix on this one. Once again the finest production skills are on display in a stunning interpretation that is all set to shake the walls wherever played. Licensed to Tidy Traxs forthcoming Music For The Harder Generation compilation mixed by Anne Savage.

Random Factor
"Know You're There"

Released 17.3.03
Cat No. VIS084

A1 - Know You're There
A2 - Moving On
B - Moving On (Silver City vocal mix)

Master of all things electronic Carl Finlow (aka Random Factor) follows up on the success of last years 4 track EP Without You with his latest release on 2020: 'Know Youre There', which like 'Without You' features the sexy, sublime vocals of Brighton based singer Debbie Clare, and continues to build the momentum towards the release of his second Random Factor album on 2020Vision later this year. Random Factors musical signature has become synonymous with deep, electro influenced house and has helped pave the way for the current uber fashionable modern electro scene and inspired producers such as Swayzak, Black Strobe and numerous other young pretenders. Know youre there (and the Convergence album) sees Carl taking his sound to the next level and moving into new vocal led, song based pastures, keeping his trademark deep, fluid, unmistakable electronic production and fleshing it out with live instrumentation and vocals.

Ronski Speed pres. Sun Decade
"I'm Alone"

Released 17.3.03
Cat No. TCOM026

A - I'm Alone (Mirco De Govia vocal mix)
B1 - I'm Alone (Ronski Speed mix)
B2 - I'm Alone (Mirco De Govia dub)

Freshly signed from Germanys uber-cool Euphonic label, Im Alone is a belting slice of deceptively simple yet massively addictive trance music! ATCR here brings you the previously unavailable pumping power of Ronskis vocal mix. Alongside that are only the second Mirco de Govia remixes on a UK label (behind his Lasgo Something revamp). Mirco is a rapidly emerging producer in his own right but on Im Alone he has delivered two remixes of devastating beauty.

Second Hand Satelittes
"Multiple Mirrors EP"

Released 17.3.03
Cat No. SHAB058

A1 - Orbit 1.5
A2 - Blackbeatz
B1 - Orbit 1.5 (Phillip Charles Retrofunk Labs Inc mix)
B2 - Orbit 1.5 (Blakhook remix)

One of the biggest tech-house tracks of last year is back, bigger and badder than ever with a brand new set of remixes. The unique DJ Three and Sean Cusick produced track was first released on Hallucination Records and caused a global stir with its hypnotic bass and phuture production. In the UK it became an anthem at Fabric, The End and Tribal Sessions with DJs like John Digweed, Mr C and Rolando as well as getting numerous plays on Radio 1. Shaboom Records picked up on the track early and licensed it with a remix ready to go from the original session, called Orbit 1.5 and included here. It retains all the original sounds but with some tweaks on the production and arrangement surpasses the awesome original. Shaboom Records favourite jazz space cadet Phillip Charles does his techy thing and turns is a deep mix that exudes warmth with plenty of analogue attitude while Randall and Mark Bell's Blakhook turns things housier but with plenty of dance floor power.

"One of the deepest, funkiest and best records I've heard for a while." - Laurent Garnier

"This is a truly remarkable record. The tempo is familiar, the instruments are familiar and the rest is anything but. It breaks many of the boundaries dance music normally places on itself." - BPM Culture Magazine

SSL
"Follow Me"

Released 17.3.03
Cat No. RHYSYN026 / RHYSYN026R

Disc 1:
A - Follow Me
B - Follow Me (Wally & Kucho remix)

Disc 2:
A - Follow Me (Infusion remix)
B - Follow Me (Turncoat remix)

'Follow Me' is a moody and atmospheric percussive track with Antonias gorgeous gravelly vocal loop applied intermittently. A very smoothly produced track with kick drum breaks over the heavy bassline, and muted synthesizer grooves resonating in and out of the track and a guaranteed dancefloor hit. Anyone who knows anything about the funky end of house will need no introduction to premier producers, Wally and Kucho. Their mix chugs along in typical tribal fashion taking the track to a different level of intensity. The Infusion remix is quite simply a very dark, moody progressive track. With its tuff techno beat and complex build up, this intricately produced track cleverly introduces layer upon layer of percussive beats and synth sounds, before kicking off with a heavy bassline 2/3rds into the track. The B side however, Turncoat remix is in direct contrast to Infusion remix. It is a simple but effective house track through and through, simplifying the bassline of the original, yet throwing in a mish mash by adding the odd breaks groove and a few tribal beats; a track that cleverly sucks you in, stops and kicks off again.

X Rated
"I Can Feel It"

Released 17.3.03
Cat No. THM057

A - I Can Feel It
B1 - What You Are
B2 - Ready?

Following his last successful outing on 12 Thumpers, X-Rated returns with another delicious 3-track platter that will undoubtedly satisfy the palette of every listener. I Can Feel It is a tough industrial sounding choon that relies on toughly eq-d percussion to keep a chunky vibe throughout. The lead synth is not overbearing and fits in sweetly throughout the mix. This track is more of a get-down-and-dirty sweat monster than a hands-in-the air stormer and is guaranteed to fit into the majority of sets across the country. Ready retains the industrial sound with squarking high analogue stabs up to the build. It is a more erratic-sounding track that you just cant put your finger on. The squelchy mid beautifully introduces the build, which is full of all the stabs and hits one might expect from X-Rated. What You Are starts off a little deeper than the other tracks on this EP with a crazy gated synth that exudes filthiness. This is accompanied by NRG driven hoovers that build the track to a knee-wobbling frenzy.
