Astral Projection "Astral Projection EP" Released 17.2.03 Cat No. TRA072
A - Pure NRG
B - 1'000'000 Years From Today
After completing their latest highly successful album Amen, psychedelic trance gurus Astral Projection continue to stun trance revellers the world over with this superb double A-side. The hypnotic Pure NRG collaboration with fellow Israeli trance producers Domestic & Astrix boasts a massive, euphoric riff that continues sporadically throughout the track before breaking into a harder sound fused with uncompromising percussion. A more 'euro' feel than the usual Astral Projection sound teamed with their amazingly high production standards have contributed to making this outstanding track that has been attracting interest from superstar trance DJs such as John '00' Fleming, Armin Van Buuren, Guy Ornadel and Matt Hardwick (Gatecrasher.) The AA-side of this release is a harder track more suited to the full on psytrance floors and more complex in nature. Power and technology the twisted vocal on 1,000,000 Years From Today loops and distorts freakily as first the kick, then abrasive acid stabs, then a pulsing bass line interject this rampant assault on the senses. At the four-minute mark a spiralling breakdown introduces a huge transcendent riff as the track climbs steadily to its glorious peak.

Ilogik "My Life" Released 17.2.03 Cat No. EM018
A - My Life
B - My Life (Paul Janes remix)
First solo outing for Ilogik since the huge 'Check This Out'. 'My Life' kicks in just the same way and has been terrorizing dancefloors all over the world on acetate from those lucky enough to have it on CD. From early reactions from some of the top jocks such as Lisa Lashes this track is deemed to be the next Signum 'What Ya Got For Me'. It has received huge support from Lisa Lashes but then again she is the only one that has actually had a copy up until now. On the flip side of the original is the remix from the legendary Paul Janes of Tidy Trax fame. Paul takes the remix down a typically dark route and comes up trumps. A floorfiller through out, this release is going to be another huge hit for Ilogik and Elasticman.

Highrollerz "Highrollerz" Released 17.2.03 Cat No. MECH016
A - Highrollerz
B - Macaroon
Highrollerz is the latest instalment in the Mechanism / Hungarian connection, this time featuring the talents of top Hungarian DJ, Kuhl. Kuhl is part of the Underground establishment in Eastern Europe having played alongside every single one of the worlds top DJs, he has had residencies for BPM and at the legendary Home nightclub in Budapest. This is Kuhls first released production and it was created in conjunction with his writing partner Shootie. The guys have turned in an EP of contrasting styles, with one track being very deep and the flip offering a more up beat vibe. The A side: 'Highrollerz' is a really solid, deep, progressive track with plenty of dancefloor, tribal elements. Twisted peak time rhythms punctuate the groove with subtle vocal samples creeping in and out of the mix. The B-side, 'Macaroon' is the more uplifting of the two and definitely something new for Mechanism. Melodic harmonies are the order of the day along with bassline key changes that although nothing new, seems to work really well in this more atmospheric production. A potential end of night track, this slightly trancey affair will work well for those lighter dance floor moments.

Dave Holmes "Freedom" Released 17.2.03 Cat No. TIDYTWO116
A - Freedom (Lee Haslam remix)
B - Freedom
This is Dave Holmess third release on Tidy Trax in the labels seven-year history and a release which is arguably his best. To remix and bolster the original version Tidy commissioned the talents of one the rising stars of the hard trance scene, Lee Haslam. In 2002 Lee has been a name on many peoples lips from the massive success of 'Music is the Drug' to the 'Resonate' compilation to his joint remix of 'Such a Good Feelin' with Guyver. This time Lee steps out of the shadows alone to deliver another pumpin' anthemic track. By cleverly altering the riff slightly and giving it a more punchy production Lee has really given this track a new lease of life. On the flip is the original mix, which is more of an emotional journey and is a version which compliments Lees rework.

Hydra "Affinity" Released 17.2.03 Cat No. DISCOVER02
A - Affinity (Backbeat remix)
B - Affinity
The Discover label landed with a bang in October 2002 with John Askew's massive 'Vellum' getting support from major players such as Paul van Dyk, M.I.K.E. and Dave Pearce on Radio 1. Here is the eagerly anticipated second release on the label, 'Affinity' by Hydra, a.k.a. Steve Helstrip of Thrillseekers fame, and the buzz on this single indicates it will eclipse even 'Vellum'. The cool melodies of the original are complimented by a driving remake from the Backbeat duo, leaving trance DJs spoilt for choice. Massive support already from Armin van Buuren ("One of my faves!") including numerous plays on his ID&T radio show, a personal request from Tiësto for a copy after having heard Armin drop it, Nick Sentience who sent an SMS during his gig in Oz (Playing Hydra now they love it!), Colin Tevendale (Excellent piece of melodic trance) and Matt Hardwick (Love it!) are among supporters.

Ingo vs Ben Kaye "Body Burn" Released 17.2.03 Cat No. VAC12
A - Body Burn (Ingo mix)
B - Body Burn (Ben Kaye mix)
Vacuum co-founder and inspiration, Tom Ingamells, makes a return for the 12th installment under his legendary Ingo guise and is joined by Ben Kaye. Tom and Ben both took the parts away for this one and came back with their own versions.....a true battle! Ingo's personal interpretation is a clear indication to his doubters that he really can hold his own in the studio. The opening sequence of the track lets you know that this one is going to take no prisoners as we're exposed to the crispest percussion, the chunkiest bassline and an awesome riff. The trancey break calms the nerves slightly before building to a breathtaking climax. Guaranteed to burn up any dancefloor! Ben Kaye's version toughens things up quite considerably as we're taken on a ride to the dark side. Pounding beats, frenzied percussion and a bubbly bassline set the tone for a remix that is going to cause serious crowd chaos! Review from www.offitsface.com: "In just over a year, Vacuum have released a mass of tracks each one getting better and better. The Ben Kaye mix of Body Burn is fantastic, employing some tougher percussion and a mental bassline. The riff that follows is sheer upliftance and you know that this one will be a winner whenever played."

An extremely crowd pleasing release with two mixes that guarantee smiles every time. On the A-side you will find a wicked remix by the Cream Team and on the flip, The Original Mix. Typical Matrix style stabs, great riffs and driving enough to get the crowd going crazy. In a nutshell: uplifting quality trance.

Mid Atlantic Science "Crazy Circus" Released 17.2.03 Cat No. FRAC007
A - Crazy Circus
B - Numbers
Mid Atlantic Science are Fracas owners Arron Curtis and Alex Seigle-Morris. Prior to working together, Arron used to produce as part of Chapel of Rest and Cool Britannia, with tracks receiving heavy support from the likes of Pete Tong, Paul Oakenfold and Nick Warren. Alex used to produce under the name Clinical Rise, remixing for the likes of George Michael and Fierce, and playing keyboards and drums in several bands. Mid Atlantic Sciences first release, Livin found its way into many a record box and radio show including big support from Bushwacka and Danny Howells, and got 5/5 in DJ Mag. Since then, releases from Conceptual and Dan Goodall have helped Fracas continue with their mission to put out good quality underground dance tracks. With its big fat b-line and amazing synth riff, 'Crazy Circus' is one of those tracks that youll find at the front of any DJs box, either as an all else fails floor filler or an essential end of night track definitely the more immediate of the two. The flip side, 'Numbers', takes you on a seriously classy house affair, for the deep/tech heads to get their teeth into. Without a doubt Fracas biggest release to date each track deserved of its own separate release, but put together on one outstanding 12. Great track there from Mid Atlantic Science on CDR - John Digweed This is an anthem! - Johnny Orange, Plastic Fantastic

Chris Pecht & Claude 9 "Kritikal Positive" Released 17.2.03 Cat No. SHAB059
A - Kritikal Positive
B - Get You Some
Chris and Claude hail from Austin, Texas and are part of a thriving house scene. After collaborating for the first time in 2001, the duo set out to fuse the worlds of dub, funk and soul and Kritikal Positive is one of the brilliant results. Chris is one of the USA's pioneers of the Southern Soul house movement who plays regularly all over the States and has had a raft of CD compilations released. Claude meanwhile is the studio mastermind, having remixed and performed solo projects with accomplished reggae musicians and vocalists, writing everything from down-tempo to 2-step. They are about to start their own label called Shoreleave Recordings, dedicated to pushing a new sound from deep in the heart of Texas. Kritikal Positive incorporates a multitude of sounds and influences, most notably reggae, to create a track with tribal percussion, 80s synths and trippy effects all rolled into a soulful chugging drive of dancefloor destruction. Much in the same vein as 'Children Of Israel' (recently licensed to Deep Dish's forthcoming Global Underground compilation), this offers a different slant on house music from the norm with its dub heavy debt worn prominently on its sleeve.

Stomp Music pres. Each To Their Own "Promise EP" Released 17.2.03 Cat No. SOULFUL002
A - The Promise
B1 - Lift Your Head Up
B2 - You Don't Know
Hot new label Soulful Solutions lives up to its name with its second release, the uplifting gospel-house of The Promise EP and each track is worthy of release on its own. The chunky Full Intention-esque The Promise, perfectly complements the deep, late night Soulfuric vibes of You Dont Know whilst garage anthem-in-waiting Lift Your Head Up rounds the package off perfectly. On the latter, chunky beats and deep keys are joined by an insanely funky guitar lick and sing-a-long vocals topped off by a spoken word vocal reminiscent of Eddie Amadors Rise, only a whole lot more soulful. Richard White is the gospel DJ who fell in love with the house sounds of E-Smoove and Steve Silk Hurley in the late 80s and set up Stomp Music in 1997 to bring together the talents of a group of gospel vocalists and musicians he respected. Members of the collective have contributed vocals to many acclaimed house projects including Janine Cross on Credences debut release 7th Districts What a night, Beverly T on various Smokin Beats tracks and Martin Miller who found acclaim with Michael Proctor and again 7th District. Over to Richard: I was in the studio with these vocalists and I just thought it was time we had a go ourselves. I laid some r n b vocals wed done over house tracks and sent them off to DJs I respected. When I found out Tony Humphries, Brian Tappert and DJ Disciple were playing them I knew we had something good! All Each To Their Own productions are characterized by understated production that gives the positive, yet never overblown vocals space to breath. Richard explains: Were not bible bashers, shoving our message down peoples throats. Were all religious people and we let the positivity our beliefs give us come through in the music. Isnt it about time you started believing too?

Trik "I'm A Dreamer" Released 17.2.03 Cat No. BACK06DJX01
A - I'm A Dreamer
B - I'm A Dreamer (Electro dub)
Matt Schwartz (Trik) who up to last year was virtually unknown, (well, subject to a co-write with a small west country outfit known as Massive Attack on their Mezzanine Album) continues to deliver more innovative and exciting house productions, which again underlines predictions that it is not long before he delivers a quality international anthem. (Will Trik be the one??) Over the last Israeli born Matt gave the Back Yard label 'Mblack', 'Zoom' and 'Sholan' amongst other fantastic tracks. He has had support from Tong, Fontaine, Tenaglia, and Tiesto.Trik, like Matts other projects sounds like nothing we have heard before, big rocky chunky guitar riffs sitting on top of a funky melodic bass line is being driven by a very groovy and infectious drum pattern creating a sweet backing track for very hooky high male vocals. On the B side, Matt again effortlessly delivers a dubier Electro version that still has all the charm and magic of the A side and can very comfortably sit in Erol Alkans super trendy Hoxton sets.

Rogue Element's 'Channel 2 Channel' is a jump up fat synthy B-boy bassline track on a house groove with a huge hook acid riff. Various "Response - Mixed by Ashley Casselle" Released 17.2.03 Cat No.AUTOCD001
'Response' is the debut CD album release from Automatic records, reflecting the current sound of the singles released by the label. Mixed by Gatecrashers Digital Revolution room resident Ashley Casselle, thisdouble CD offers up twenty three tracks and contains 10 previously unreleased tracks and mixes. Following the release of the seminal classic, Perception by Cass and Slide in October 1999, Automatic have released a series of hugely successful singles, most of which have been licensed to major label compilations. Response is not just a seamless DJ set like most mix albums. Ashley has done his own special re-edits of lots of the tracks and programmed brand new links, intros and outros throughout the mix to create something rather special. Response represents the sound of automatic. CD one consists of brand new, previously unreleased material (except for one track) whilst CD2 is a selection of some of the best automatic releases from the last couple of years.
"Disc One is a spellbinding cauldron of dark grooves, sub bass, electronic funk and stirring melodies, some released many unreleased, all seamlessly mixed into what feels like one complete piece of music, to give precedence to certain tracks individually, would be unjust and unfair to Mr Casselles unbelievable ear for key mixing, beats and crossovers. Disc Two is a collection of classic progressive tracks from the past year blended into a best of type scenario. All in all if I were to judge the top three-prog compilations of 2001, this would definitely be in the top three!"
