D-Track
"Bass Drum"

Released 16.12.02
Cat No.FLR041

Fluid Recordings UK makes a turn away from dark and deep with this release from D-Track to a chunkier, house vibe offering a pair of tunes every DJ needs. D-Track gained notoriety with initial releases on Choo Choo Records as well as remixes charted by top DJs such as John Digweed and the Balance Record Pool. 'Back To Bass' is a sweet house tune with a deep edge. Echoing percussion, well-placed vocal stabs and a funky bassline give the track its groove. Tripped out groovy house at its finest. 'Basedrum' has a housier vibe, reminiscent of Global Communications The Way. Lovely layered tribal percussion and a rolling bass line build the tune as analogue bleatings and a vocal sample filter in and out. A brilliant house tune, perfectly suited for early sets.

Den Hetrix & Galliard
"One Day"

Released 16.12.02
Cat No.HUSSY014

Created by Patrick Bruyndonx and Yves Yongen, 'One Day' is the latest signing from Australia's Hussle Recordings. Patrick Bruyndonx has worked on Hattrrixx's 'Pressure', a current favourite of Judge Jules, as well as 'Cirque De Paris', heavily supported by Erick Morillo at the moment. 'One Day' comes with three unique and all suitably impressive mixes. Remixer, General Electrik is a young Sydney based artist who has featured tracks on the Uber Thunk Recordings label. His mix is on the deep house / progressive tip, being characterised by subtly smooth synths and cool basslines, perfect for early warm-up sets. This mix recently featured on Hussle Recordings' Chalet Soiree compilation, to wide acclaim. The Meat Katie remix has been championed by a plethora of breaks DJs including Rennie Pilgrim, DJ Hyper, Adam Freeland, Tayo and Lee Coombs. It has also crossed over to more progressive DJs like Satoshi Tomiie, James Lavelle, Lee Burridge and Australia 's Phil K. The Wok Institute remix brings the original right into summer terrace clubbing territory. Reworked, this mix brings the guitar to full life and is reminiscent of their brilliant remix of Banda Sonoras 'Guitarra G' on Defected earlier this year. The track has been picked up by MOS for the world and will be released next year with Beginerz mixes. Chill mixes also available.

4 Tune
"Dancin' Into The Night"

Released 16.12.02
Cat No.BLGD4

More full-on, tough, funky house action here from the label that provided us with MBlack. Big support from most of the leading jocks in town. Full of wicked little filtered sounds and cut up disco grooves this is sure to get your blood pumping.

Casa Grande
"El Compadre"

Released 16.12.02
Cat No.FLUENT36

Known almost as much for his obsessive dedication to the science and theory of production as he is for his crystal clean mixing skills, Eddie Amador, responsible for the seminal anthems 'House Music' and 'Rise', has evolved into something far greater than simply a hit-making super-producer: he has become something of a prophet and house music visionary. In the years since, Eddie has been in demand as a DJ and remixer worldwide. Remixing tracks for labels like Ovum, CAUS-N'FF-CT, Azuli and Deep Touch; Eddie continues to turn out the deep and groovy hits for Fluential, Yoshitoshi as well as the deeper, more forward-thinking bits for his newly formed Mochico imprint. Here he provides a stomping groove full of funky horn stabs, latin infused grooves, funky piano melodies and deep vibes, but the obligatory hypnotic disco dub is also provided. On the double A sided vinyl, it's the simplicity of the groove coupled with a slick production that will keep this record in DJs' boxes for some months. As always, Eddie's trademark solid chunky driving beats make this track irresistible for peaktime dancefloor action but it's the vocal chants that make you want to get up and jack! The Dub mix sticks to a stripped down groove with plenty of conga action, groovy basslines plus filtering stabs and vocal chants. On the flip the Club mix builds on this formula adding a hypnotic organ to grace the gentle descent into the breakdown before a Latino piano builds it back to a crescendo once again and finally gives way to beats, bassline n all.

Corpus
"Whistle Posse"

Released 16.12.02
Cat No.THM052

'Jump' is a well-constructed helping of beefy hard house for your aural pleasure. Steering away from the almost tired sound that appears to be the norm nowadays, Corpus has concentrated more on the uplifting bouncy feel that has proved successful for many a producer in the genre. Pump This Party has a dirtier feel than its predecessor which stems predominantly from its bass line. The pleasantly surprising uplift to this tune comes from a classic joanna riff that recalls an old-skool feel. This is retained in the break-beat middle section that you cant help but love. Whistle Posse is a generally ruder affair with a hefty bassline that encourages hard stabs to run riot over this delicious offering from Corpus. With these three quality tracks on one EP its a must for any hard house fan to place firmly in their bag.

Ross Couch
"Seismic Shift"

Released 16.12.02
Cat No.BL055

Scottish wonder boy Ross Couch delivers again for his second release on Bellboy. Born and raised in Glasgow, one of the key centres for the development of British techno, Ross has inevitably drawn upon the citys rich musical tradition and clubbing heritage. I guess coming from Glasgow its not too surprising that Im also influenced by Slam, Silicone Soul and generally anything coming from Soma Records, he reveals. Ross marked his arrival with the deeply groovy double-whammy of Back Force/In Motion on Bellboy in late 2001, which he has followed up with the smooth, soulful tech-house and disco influence of The Rhythm/Feel Good Factor on our deep little sister label, Panther, proving himself a highly versatile as well as a staggeringly talented young artist. Here the 23 year old MP3.com discovered artist delivers an FX laden irresistible belter of a groove. Seismic shift was selected for Chris Cowies recently highly acclaimed Radio One essential mix. I needed a very strong and powerful tune to stand up to The Chemical Brothers, Under The Influence. And its a tough tune to compete with. Couchs track definitely gave it a run for its money. Everywhere I play it brings the roof down, said Cowie. High praise indeed! Couchs development since his discovery on MP3.com a year and a half ago is evident in this essential 3 tracker. On the flip side Never Give Up is a deceptively cool laid back affair with its deep moody chords, infectious vocal, and chugging percussion. The third instalment Seismic Dub is a perfectly structured stripped down version of the A side.

Debo & Porter
"Deported"

Released 16.12.02
Cat No.BED39

John Debo, US East Coast house don continues a warm relationship with Bedrock following his 2001 remix of Pole Folder's 'Apollo Vibes'. In his first production for the label, alongside another of house music's rising young stars, Steve Porter, 'Deported' (Heavy Mix featured in Chris Fortier's 'Compiled & Mixed' album) is a steady, rockin' track with a sound familiar to Bedrock. Tight production and an energy laden hook in the original mix makes this a really solid release, at home in the build or top of the night, it does its job and then some. A stellar sound and quality of production, both familiar to Bedrock, 'Deported' layers percussion and fx in the lead in until the melody drops. Another rising, melodic hook but with something spine-tingling about it, as was heard in Bedrock's 'Emerald', this is a real treat from the east coast production pairing with huge room for manoeuvre. A deep, textured track with an amazing energy. The long build certainly provides something worth waiting for in the detailed fx and hooky melody that makes the core of the track. The 'Heavy Mix' adds another kick to the weight of the original as the bass is swollen even further whilst the edges are stripped away to create a far darker and edgier track. FX are filtered to add to the edge and a more brooding track comes from the remix with a startling different feel to the original.

Future Funk Squad
"Blaze Up!"

Released 16.12.02
Cat No.FGD10

Forged Recordings always feature one 4/4 track and 1 breaks track. Breaks boys Future Funk Squad have been DJing / producing for the best part of seven years with main influences being Jedi Kights, Reload, Tipper and the Prodigy. They produced the following tracks for their own Default Records label.... Pulse (001), Beatfreaks (002), Twisted Future (003) and Wake Me (FFS Remix) (004). They also produced remixes of the following: Stanton Warriors 'Da Antidote' [Mob], 2 Sinners 'Round in Circles' [2S2], Brothers of Dub 'Same Frequency' [Forged], Digital Pimp '2 Bit Hooker' [DP Records], Scissorkicks 'Livin' for Kicks' [Plastic Raygun], Phantom Beats 'The Drop' [Plastic Raygun] 10sui+Tamsin 'Sit Tight' [t.b.c], Curtis Lynch 'The Chase' [One Little Indian], plus more to come on Forged, Botchit Breaks, Wireframe + more!! Future Funk Squad appear here for their first solo release on Forged, and what a release this is. Twisted, in your face breaks on one side and a tough little houser from Def-e on the flip. Laced with the right elements for a dance floor monster, both mixes do the business on the floor, with good support as a test pressing. Based in the UK, Def-e and Ibi Tijani met in 1999 through Dom B of the Stanton Warriors. Def-e and Dom have been friends since school where they got into trouble together and have kept in contact over the years. At the time they met, Ibi was working as a programmer with producer Rollo Armstrong and Def-e was DJing about the place. Both Def-e and Ibi are fans of the 50s and 60s musical era. Def-e explains vocalists of that era had no age constraints. They were more life experienced because they were older. A chunky housey number on a Low Pressings vibe and a twisting nu-skool breaker on the A side. What more could you ask for?

Nathan G
"Sunday Sessions"

Released 16.12.02
Cat No.KINK6

The debut production for Nathan G. This Sunday sessions EP is a reflection of his own, very successful, Melbourne club night. It's four tracks of immediate, funky west coast influenced house music. Nathan has had releases on Viscious Vinyl, Reverb and Transport Recordings and remixed for EMI and other majors. Kinky have really perfected their art, combining deep, house rhythms with a soulful edge to it; a hybrid where they're consistently setting the standard. A housier tip than it's predecessors, the Sunday Sessions EP shakes it's sexy little ass down the west coast of the US and comes up grooving with a smile on it's face. Very much the way things should be going!

Wayne G
"Twisted"

Released 16.12.02
Cat No.TEC060 / TEC060R

A massive club hit and national top 75 in 1998, and went Gold in Australia the following year. It has been in constant demand ever since and over the last year that demand has grown massively. This format contains the original and Nick Sentiences club mix (see TEC060R for his dirty extended mix), as well as Wayne Gs new mix in a Tom Stephan dirty house style.

DJ Ghost
"Is This Techno?"

Released 16.12.02
Cat No.MA0902512

Both sides of this 12 are incredible slices of hard dance music. Is This Techno? poses the question. More hard edged dance music than pure techno - it is a storming track. 'Immer Und Ewig' is a pure club based track, peaktime deep hard dance, hypnotic and trancey that's already been picked up and supported by Judge Jules. Belgian born DJ Ghost has been the driving force behind several very successful recent projects, such as The Moon (signed to Nukleuz in the UK) and Cherry Moon Trax (which he produces with Star Fighter). His efforts and musical talents have not gone unnoticed by the likes of Pete Tong, Judge Jules and Timo Maas, who have both added several of DJ Ghost's productions to their playlists (eg. 'Body-Shock' and The Moon's 'Shake It'.) Apart from being resident DJ in one of Belgium's most famous clubs, the Cherry Moon in Lokeren, DJ Ghost has often been asked to grace remote venues with his guest performances. He is, for instance, one of the few Belgian DJ's to have played in 'Down Town' Chicago or 'Webster Hall' in New York and headlined alongside big international names at venues such as I Love Techno.

Mark Gray
"99.9"

Released 16.12.02
Cat No.VCR018

Mark Gray is a popular DJ all around the country playing for the likes of Sundissential, Insomniacz and Storm and also overseas, visiting countries such as South Africa, Finland and China. On a production front he has had releases on Bulletproof and Sundissential Records but this release is definitely his best work to date. The original mix is a solid track based around a throbbing bassline and tough kick, layered with stabs and vocal snippets that builds into a catchy trance riff. The remix has a tougher approach taking the stabs and vocals from the original and putting them over a driving bass with a heavy synth lead. The remix really goes to town and takes the riff to another level. Remixer, Paul Glazby is one of the most in demand producers in todays hard house scene. With countless remixes and original tracks under his belt on labels such as Tidy, Nukleuz, Frantic, Kaktai, Tripoli and of course Vicious Circle, any Release with Pauls name on it is guaranteed to be massive!

Guyver
"Man On The Moon"

Released 16.12.02
Cat No.TIDYTWO114 / TIDYTWO114CD

Serious Sound was Guyvers first ever solo single on Tidy Two back in August 2002. To this day it is recognised not only as a Tidy Two anthem but a fully-fledged Tidy anthem! Guyver is now signed exclusively to Tidy and after hearing these gems we are sure you can see why. 'Man On The Moon' is a quality blend of euphoric leads mashed with an emotional JX styled riff. Fuse all this with pumpin bass and rasping percussion and you have a recipe for success on the dancefloor. On the flip is the much talked about 'Funky Ass Beats'. This track was done over a year ago and has been sat in the Tidy vaults for a while. It has already featured on the Resonate album mixed by Lee Haslam and since then has become a firm favourite with a number of people who have been calling the office for months wanting to know when it will be released.....the time has come!

Jewel
"Serve The Ego"

Released 16.12.02
Cat No.BLU030T

'Serve The Ego' is taken from Jewel's multi platinum album 'This Way', which was released to critical acclaim earlier this year. Jewel's previous albums have together sold over 23 million copies worldwide. The track is currently No. 1 in the Billboard Dance Chart.

'Unmissable. Essential' - Blues & Soul

Julez & Stone
"Always Begun"

Released 16.12.02
Cat No.MECH014

This is the first single release on Mechanism for Julez and follows his well-received remix of Alex & Tommyboys Haw (MECH013.) The multi-talented Julez spends his life immersed in the music business, he has his own radio show and regularly DJs on the Eastern European circuit. He has completed numerous remixes and singles including a remix of Simons Free At Last which ended up getting released on Positiva. As well as the various dance projects, Julez is currently working on some different music, collaborating with musicians and singers on an album project as Easy Life Natural. This EP contains two tracks showcasing Julezs broad talents, the A side is a progressive style track whilst on the flip there is a much deeper tune nicely suited to warm-up sets. The A side, 'Always Begun', is a great mid-set Progressive vibe with all the right noises in all the right places. A cool bassline guided groove is the core of this track which has a Julez feel which some of you may be beginning to get used to. The track builds nicely through the main section and rises into the breakdown before going off again on that same groovy trippy, ride. On the B side, 'Pure Science', is a deeper and more dreamy affair, ideal for either the warm-up or for that atmospheric moment in your set. Smooth pads and a beautiful deep groove carry this track as it glides through its gentle journey. A great opener which should be present in any cool DJ's box.

Junkie XL
"Beauty Never Fades"

Released 16.12.02
Cat No.RR20216

2002 was the year of the comeback of JXL due to the Elvis Presley remake A Little less conversation but this was only the beginning. Junkie XL will surprise soon with a new single, new album and new collaborations with hot artists. 'Beauty Never Fades' already got plays on the demo version by Tong, Oakenfold, Sasha, Digweed who all started copying the promo CD for their friends. The vocal comes from non other than Saffron of Republica / N-Joi fame! 'Breezer' is by the way the collaboration track with Sasha.

Kernzey & Klemenza
"Don't Be Afraid"

Released 16.12.02
Cat No.VAC11

The original mix bubbles with energy right from the outset. The mood intensifies rapidly to erupt out of the speakers, on a collision course with the crowd! Stimulant DJs make a triumphant return to the Vacuum fraternity with a remix of immense proportions. Tweaking & twisting the original into an awesome hard trance, dancefloor destroyer, this is big room music for the masses.

Decent hard house!! - Tidy Boys
Really like this release, prefer Stimulants mix. Front of the box!! 9/10 Justin Bourne

Marc Kessler
"Skywalker"

Released 16.12.02
Cat No.TZT004

After the success of his last release on Tranzmit the label thought they had better get him in the studio once more. With top class production as ever, this is a timeless piece of classic hard trance with highly commercial potential. Tough beats maintain a steady rhythmic flow at the start of the track before dropping back to just kick and basslines. Simplicity is the key here but never under spec, progressively building with an array of drums and a hint of TB303 before reaching its climax. Having been compared to German techno/trance label Tracid Trax of its more melodic releases this should prove to be ever popular. Fresh new artist Hinks Miller puts his vision of Skywalker onto a different platform. A highly commercial mix without the usual cheesy associated nonsence. Nice build ups and euphoric strings will appeal to a wider audience which complements the original.

Chris Liberator & D.A.V.E. The Drummer
"Untitled"

Released 16.12.02
Cat No.MAXMINSLIME

Chris Liberator returns to his max min imprint, this time with long time collaborator and Hydraulix label owner D.A.V.E. The Drummer for more blistering techno action. Pants & Corset
"K Hole"

Released 16.12.02
Cat No.P&C001

The legendary Pants & Corset return with a hard uncompromising one sider with a slight trance twist. Previous escapades have included the massive 'Malice In Wonderland' and 'Sacrilage' and K Hole is no exception. Full of the usual P&C trademark sounds this has been ripping up dancefloors everywhere.

Allan Pullen & The Funky M
"BB Breakdown"

Released 16.12.02
Cat No.CLASSA002

The second release on Baby Dolls new sister label Class A Recordings sees the debut of Tripoli Trax artist Mark Kavanagh (aka The Funky M) on the label in collaboration with on-fire Alan Pullen. Pullen has previously co-produced with Kavanagh on the Tripoli Trax releases Easyman and Lyrical Bricks, on Baby Dolls classic Go Insane and on the Baby Doll DJs remix of Elasticman anthem Insomniacz. BB Breakdown comes in two flavours: a lush, string-soaked pumping epic and a banging hard house remix. Pullen and Kavanagh are also Bill & Ben, The Irish Men, whose The Age Of Dub and Give Me Love covers caused a big stir. All Class A releases will be strictly limited pressings for the underground so snap them up fast. Lisa Lashes has shortlisted BB Breakdown for inclusion on her next Extreme Euphoria album.

Raff & Jay Pidgeon
"Killa Bees"

Released 16.12.02
Cat No.FT014

Fevah Trance continues to showcase some of the freshest talent around by snapping up 'Killer Beez', a collaboration between Dublin based studio whiz kid Raff, and Temple Theatre resident DJ Jay Pidgeon. They have forged an ideal studio partnership by combining the engineering expertise of Raff with the dancefloor know-how of Jay to create a clinical hard dance number that guarantees an excellent response from any up for it crowd. Prime Mover return to the label for remix duties following the runaway success of their recent EP 'Black Dogs', and once again they prove why they are one of the hottest production talents at the moment, delivering a firing remake that will delight followers of the harder edged trance sounds. Anne Savage is already on this beast, having played both the original mix on acetate, and now the remix on TP, and the likes of Lisa Lashes, Nick Rafferty ("top tune!"), Phil Reynolds ("love the Prime Mover mix"), Mark Kavanagh and Trevor Reilly ("love both mixes 10/10") have been quick to follow.

"Next Generation EP"

Released 16.12.02
Cat No.0482PNUK

Another week and another storming EP to break fresh talent and make some fucking noise. Just as the Hard Beat series made BK and the Hard Trance series has made bedroom DJ heroes of James Lawson and Mark Richardson, this series will make stars out of the unknown. Olly Perris is 17 years-old and still at school in Dorset. Ashley Sinclair is 24 and married with a young child in Essex. THE TWO OF THEM HAVE NEVER MET! They met on the internet and have been writing tunes together via the WWW for six months. The Venue is the first tune that they have finished together it was sent to Andy Farley and then to Nukleuz HQ and signed straight away! Vinylgroover & The Red Hed are one of the most consistent-selling artists for Nukleuz Blue. Nuff said! Move Your Body sold 5000 copies when it released two years ago and appeared on all the biggest compilations. Its an anthem! Roof-raising massive hard house thatll rock your world!

Chris Cowie
"Direct Contact EP"

Released 16.12.02
Cat No.HK065

Since it was forged in the wilds of the North Sea wind in 1993, Hook Recordings has inexorably changed the course of dance music for the better, providing countless moments of beauty, splendour, chaos, freaky dancing, mountaineering, insanity and genius. Now run by Chris Cowie and Stuart Emslie, the label made a name for British trance when the term still had meaning beyond the five minute snare-roll and mindless one-finger keyboard riff. This release marks Hooks debut production through Amato Distribution. With last year's hefty 'Direct Connect' double-pack, DJ/producer Chris Cowie laid waste to dancefloors worldwide with four tracks of expertly crafted tech-house. The much-anticipated second instalment sees Cowie further tightening the screw on his already watertight production skills with four more prime cuts each allowed a side of vinyl upon which to breathe. 'Suspect Manoeuvre' goes straight for the jugular, building upon swelling electronic bass until the arrival of a most familiar vocal sample used cleverly and with climactic purpose. 'Metro' follows a deep, silken groove with rippling, housey percussion wrapped round an incessant bassline and carpeted in a rich shagpile of melancholic chords. On the second slate, 'Rainstar' (also featured on the Space Ibiza 2002 album) is restrained yet deceptively potent, driving yet oozing with liquid emotion, coming to a powerful, melodic head with washes of deeply-felt synths. The shuddering 'Timer' brings things to an explosive close, a feverish percussive animal tempered by dubby stabs and subtly tweaked with hypnotic effect. The connection has been made!

Various
"Worldwide Direct"

Released 16.12.02
Cat No.HK066

Every once in a while comes an EP of true quality and diversity. One that can stay in your box for eons no matter where you travel worldwide. Hook has brought together 4 artists from around the globe for our first offering in the Worldwide series. First up is the Space Ibiza Album featured 'Feel The Groove' from Sao Paulo's latest prodigious musical offering. 23-year old Julio Torres delves deep inside his machines for a techy, throbbing piece of futuristic house music; all the elements are there mad, short-circuiting sounds, mysterious Latin-flavoured wails echoing through the mix and the all important dancefloor dynamic no Hook release can be without. Lifting the pace just a little is Fluid In Motion's excellent 'Sniper': The first track we know of to be completely virtually recorded between the band members from Singapore and Finland. Musically connected on the internet Miika Kuisma, Luke Chen and Janne Mansnerus have been quietly working in the background winning MP3.COM accolades and gaining the attention of DJs and labels worldwide. Now signed to Hook, 'Sniper' is just a teaser of what's coming soon 'virtually' right to your door. No EP could be complete without a taste of France and Parisian Jean Loup's first outing for Hook is a deep, hypnotic slab of dubbed-out, machine-mangled tech house. Riding with a conga-led percussive rhythm, heavily reverbed vocal snatches chase between the beats as a mesmeric chordline enters play to take it into the realms of serious 3 am marching gear. Also the man behind Moog and Spectral, Jean Loup's previous releases include numerous singles and the album 'Diffuse' on labels Blueroom, EFA and Techno Flux. Finally we close the night on this EP with another prestigious signing to Hook: Mark Kingston's Spanish vocal driven peak time trouser shaker 'Todas Las Dias'. Meaning 'Every Day' and featuring the vocals of Spanish beauty 'Miriam', Mark Kingston's one of those super-underground producers you may not have heard of till now; but you soon will He's won the televised T4/Ericsson homelands DJ competition, the biggest DJ competition ever held with over 4,000 entries, headlined the gigantic main tent at the Homelands festival, attended by over 30,000 clubbers, and shared deck duties with the likes of Sasha, Seb Fontaine and Timo Maas. Oh, and participated in a live TV interview with celebrity nutjob DJ Brandon Block, probably more nerve-wracking than any of the above. For Brandon, that is If that's not enough his latest recording 'Feel Me' has just been featured on the Daily Star Cover CD with more than a million copies printed. This track and more from Kingston on Hook and UG soon.
