Beyond Motion "Incisions" Released 25.11.02 Cat No.VCR017
The Energy UK awards received by Vicious Circle for 2001 were 'New Label Of The Year' No.1 and 'Overall Label Of The Year' No.2 (behind Nukleuz.) One of the most popular hard house tunes of all time, this track was massive when first released. A favourite of Tony De Vit's, the track made it on to classic albums such as the Trade 4 and Live in Tokyo. Here are two classic remixes that will most definitely be played for years to come. Respected as both a DJ and a producer, remixer Steve Thomas has always strived to push the boundaries of hard house and dance music. Resident at the infamous Trade, this man is a true legend. Here he again shows why hes been on top of the game for so so long. With its big german bassline and pounding beat this is a no holds barred mix full of energy and power. Label boss of Cannon and master of all things pumping, our flipside remixer, Choci has been a name recognized with hard energetic music for over a decade. His early Hoover techno style helped shape the scene as we know it today. One thing you cold be certain of, if a record had the name Choci on it, you would be in for a most severe bit of tunage! Chocis remix of this classic record has managed to stand the test of time. His remix of Beyond motion still sounds as fresh now as it did when it was originally released. Amazing stuff!

Abraham Bam Boogie "Deep Satisfaction" Released 25.11.02 Cat No.KINK5
Kinky Vinyl is the funky brother of Whoop! Records and it's an outlet for quality, sexy house music. The label has established itself quickly through its first 3 releases with the product being branded through its unique funky logo and sexy PVC house bags. The debut production for Abraham Bam Boogie is an absolute corker! Kinky Vinyl won a bidding war over this with various other labels, an early indication of the strength of this production and package. After untold success as a producer, remixing the likes of Oliver Kleins timeless classic 'Timeshift' (on Maelstrom), Lehner & Biebl's 'Let The Sunshine' (Virgin) and his massive club land smash from last year Dance to the music (Undercurrent), the man is destined for great things! The Lazlo Panaflex remix is a phat, stab driven houser. Vocal stabs are interspersed with clever edits, and mad filters when the filthy bassline comes in make the track a funky ass dance floor destroyer. The Original mix on the flip is chunky, funky house music that breaks down Tenaglia style with an awesome male spoken vocal which is not only memorable but also mass appealing.

Orion "Twisted" Released 25.11.02 Cat No.NU12012
Hot on the heels of the superb Q Project 12 and Trickstas Mixed Emotions mixed album, Nu Directions are back once again with two more forward thinking gems. We are proud to unleash two superb tracks by one of Americas rising stars....we welcome you to the scientific sounds of Orion. Originally from North Carolina, John OBrien has been steadily building up a reputation for quality intelligent productions since his debut release Requiem on Dutch label Fokus. Since then he has had interest from DJs from all corners of the globe, as well as unleashing the excellent Ol Janx Spirit on LTJ Bukems Good Looking imprint, Emerge on the Canadian label Gamma Ray, Dark Dreams on Breakbeat Science, Set Free on Purified Audio, as well as having Desolate Plains as the opening tune on Reid Speed's Resonance Mix CD and Slanked on the Empresss Stateside 2 Mix CD. 'Twisted' is the deep melodic roller that featured on Trickstas current mixed album Mixed Emotions CD, as well as being championed by Blame on his World Tour and becoming an anthem with Chris Inperspective and the mighty ASC down at the infamous mid-week sessions at Technicality (Herbal, London). 'Shock Therapy' blazes with sharp pumping drums and drops into a breakdown to die for. It takes you deep with gentle atmospherics before whipping you up into a frenzy of tuff bass and swirling acidic bleeps. This track is sure to be just as massive in the clubs just like its flipside.

Pole Folder "Dust" Released 25.11.02 Cat No.BEDMMII02 / BEDMMII02R
One of the stand out tracks from John Digweed's 'MMII' album earlier this year (so much so he picked it up for his label), 'Dust' is a brilliant cut from the proven Belgian talents Pole Folder & CP. The same scale and grandeur of 'Apollo Vibes' and 'Enter The Rhythm', 'Dust' has a fantastic break hook and haunting vocal. All this added to and given further cross-genre appeal by reixes from The Flash Brothers, James Zabiela and Tim Fretwell. As 2002 draws on Pole Folder (Benoit Franquet) looks back on two fantastic years of success and excellent production. Once again he teams up with CP, a combination that's proven its quality in past releases on Bedrock, 'Enter The Rythm' and 'Apollo Vibes'. Pole Folder is unquestionably one of the strongest, most talented and unique producers to force his way to the forefront of a scene. Deft production in the finish of an array of work that he has come up with is the coating on what is some truly awesome material. Pole Folder sets himself apart with a unique sound and looks set to be an extremely significant dance artist of the future across genres. The Flash Brother's, Tim Fretwell, James Zabiela and even Pole Folder & CP themselves provide additional mixes. Vinyl 1 includes the original mix and remix from Bedrock favourites The Flash Brothers. The Israeli trio lend 'Dust' their brooding eastern edge and pull the spine tingling vocal out to superb effect with an echoing atmospheric treatment. Vinyl 2 features a club mix from Pole Folder & CP themselves, the original given a housier feel with a dark and brooding edge whilst Tim Fretwell provides the B-side remix. Fretwell's is a funkier cut which makes great use of the break hook as the drums at the top end and the techy stabs rise to the surface. In the third limited 12" to come, James Zabiela comes up with a full on funked up breaks mix. The 'Dakota Bar Slam' takes it's name from the room at Bedrock's London venue where James is well used to tearing the place up! Tim Fretwell provides the a dub mix on the B-side, a stripped down, driving twist on the remix.

Mr Springs whoppingly good club anthem from 96 is brought bang up to date for 2002. The A side Rockafellas remix is a firing revamp taking Voyager into tough house territory. On the flip the charging congas remix drops a mighty break-beat mid-section which ramps right back up at the end.

Skin Thieves "2 The AM" Released 25.11.02 Cat No.THM045
Back with their 45th release, Thumpers have called on the Skin Thieves for a dirty, banging EP of epic proportions. The A side 2 The AM is a pumping track with hard lead synths and a rave break down that weaves throughout this stomp-fest of a track. The vocal introduces a wicked breakbeat section mid-tune that is splattered with classic old analogue spits before the fat rounded bassline kicks in. All in all a solid A side to introduce the world to the Skin Thieves on 12 Thumpers. The AA side, Clean House, has a more industrial percussive sound to it. The intro chugs along before introducing the mean bassline. This track just seems to get ruder and ruder as fat synths accentuate the driving feel that this track captures. Sirens build the tension before, maybe surprisingly, a lighter synth picks up the mood. Its quite bizarre how the contrast retains its banging sound and as for the build up.phew !!! Has to be heard to be believed.

DJ Spoke "Ignition" Released 25.11.02 Cat No.TIDYTWO112 / TIDYTWO112CD
Ignition was originally signed from PSR Records, Switzerland, and over the past few month has found its self on a number of top selling compilations including Extreme Euphoria and Resonate. (SHOKK Remix). Tidy2 is a label that is going from strength to strength and we are very proud to announce for this release the services of one of the biggest names within the hard dance scene, a debut remix from the almighty Nick Sentience. Nick needs no introduction, his outstanding work over the past few years has crossed the globe and made him one of the hottest properties around. His remix of 'Ignition' is arguably some of his best work to date, delivering a very cool and superbly produced remix that has been igniting (pun intended) floors across the country with plays from the Tidy Boys and Lee Haslam. On the flip we have Shokk, fresh from their gargantuan remix of Signum's 'Coming On Strong'. This remix featured on the original import but to this day is still played by many big names and still has the capability of doing damage on any floor.

Todd Tobias "Headspace" Released 25.11.02 Cat No.RETEK003
The Retek label makes a triumphant return following the runaway success of Sam Reeve & Jon Rundell's 'Africaine', a track that won widespread support from leading DJs right across the dance scene, including Radio 1 plays from Fergie. We now bring you another tasty slab of genre defying, hard-edged dance music from Todd Tobias. 'Headspace' is a mean and moody groover that's been doing the business for Andy Farley off CDR, prompting a flurry of phone calls to our office from DJs after a copy of the next Retek release. Having already featured the talents of Paul Glazby and Nick Sentience on the previous two releases, they once again delved into the top drawer for a remix on 'Headspace', with OD404 adding a different slant to the original in their own inimitable style, pushing several musical boundaries in one swoop and delighting the likes of Nick Sentience ("Love the OD404 remix") while Anne Savage went so far as to say "Retek is the new Vicious Circle."
|
The Realm "Lost In Space" Released 25.11.02 Cat No.3BTT66
Following on from their last release 'This Is Not A Breakdown', the dynamic duo of Steve Jones and Ricky Simmonds return to the floor with yet another guaranteed club anthem. Upfront and in your face, the original is a huge vocal number, which will appeal to a wide range of mainstream and underground DJs alike. With a bassline snipped from Donna Summers 'I Feel Love' and Steves epic vocal which will stick in your head for weeks, the track pounds along at as alarming rate, bobbing hooks and layered synth strings fill the gaps perfectly, building up and up to a quality breakdown. Flip it for the instrumental dub mix, which includes all the elements of the original in a slightly difference format and without the vocal.
