Justin Bourne & Dynamic Intervention "Save Our Souls" Released 11.11.02 Cat No.STIM12024
Justin Bourne debuted on Stimulant with two huge dancefloor destroyers in the form of Scratch The Bass and the mighty In Effect - both of which featured in many DJs' sets and also appeared on numerous compilations. For his follow up single Justin has teamed up with the infamous Mik Cree a.k.a Dynamic Intervention to deliver an absolutely firing AA side that is currently ripping up clubs all the over the UK and beyond. 'Save Our Souls' is a perfect example of the current evolution of hard house. It fuses the euphoria of trance with the raw power of hard house and NRG, supplying a no nonsense, relentless and uplifting journey peppered with mind blowing elements. 'I Need You' continues the sonic assault but with an altogether funkier edge. Chunky beats, lush vocal bites and annoyingly infectious riffs are all underpinned by a driving yet bubbly bassline that has people grinning from ear to ear. With mammoth reactions from early acetate recipients and numerous phone calls asking whens it out?! this is destined to rock many a dancefloor over the coming months. Get on it and stimulant your dancefloor

Spoon Wizard "Believe Or Suffer" Released 11.11.02 Cat No.FB016
The next two releases from Functional will be samplers for the forthcoming debut album from Spoon Wizard. Spoony asked four of his favorite producers to pick a track from Believe or Suffer and remix their choice. The end result is an interesting mix of styles, giving each of the tracks a different slant. FB016 sees Will White who has taken time out from working on the new Propellerheads album to turn Spoonkey into an upbeat housey number aimed straight for the dancefloor. Final remix duty goes to Phantom Beats with their reworking of Stop Forking Around, giving the track a real electro feel again a quite different slant to previous tracks the boys have released through Functional.

Veit "Sky" Released 11.11.02 Cat No.BLH149
'Sky' is a stunningly beautiful trance tune. Already huge support by Paul van Djk and Tiësto. The Magik Muzik mix (coordinated by Tiësto) has that warm MM feeling, spheric and uplifting. The flipside has the Hardy Heller mix which is more funky progressive and the original club mix. Hardy Heller and Ray Boye have had previous releases on Black Hole. High expectations on this one , since the Magik Muzik remixes are doing really well internationally. Has already had interest from the likes of Hooj Choons and Ministry of Sound.

He is also one half of Labrats and runs his own label and production company Onephatdeeva. His top 40 hits include In and Out of My Life, Bad Habit and Sleeptalk. Featured on Roger Sanchezs new Release Yourself compilation.

The Boyz "Synesthasia" Released 11.11.02 Cat No.THM049
Numero uno on this big EP has a dark feel to it that is created not only by the heavy bassline but the delayed synth main lead that sweeps across the track with authority. Panned percussive rolls introduce a build that is more get down and dirty than hands in the air which is sure to please loads of clubbers currently gracing the scene. Im sure this track will be in the bag of many a DJ. On the flip is a fairly minimal tune with a mellower bassline than the norm, which is a nice surprise. The hard sound to the lead provides the real excitement to this track and its bound to build any crowd into a melee of excitement after the imaginative build up.

Capella "U Gotta Know" Released 11.11.02 Cat No.NUKP0384
'U Got 2 Know' sold in excess of 200,000 copies upon release a decade ago. It got to number 6 in the UK Top 40 and heralded a golden age of Italian dance anthems that spawned the mighty Media Records that we all know and love. Capella is Gianfranco Bortolotti, the founding father of Media Records and BXR Records. Over the last 12 years he has been one of the most influential people in the global dance industry, often influencing and creating new scenes. As Capella, he followed the success of 'U Got 2 Know' with 'Let The Music'. RAF is the alter ego of Mauro Picotto. Joy Kitikonti is the madcap producer of 'Joyenergizer' and 'Joydontstop' the two zaniest global techno anthems of the last year. 'Let The Music' hit number 2 in the UK Top 40 making the act a household name. 'U Got 2 Know' is one of the biggest dance tracks of all time given and trance and techno treatment by the two biggest names in the field this year. Nuff said!

Crack Village "Deep Penetration" Released 11.11.02 Cat No.NBC001
Given their name and heavy presence in the gazettes of Hoxton twattery, you'd expect this single to be style-over-content garage rock bobbins. Wrong!! Crack Village are actually a hip-hop act as clever, funny and sexually charged as Gonzales, their associate and obvious inspiration. 'Deep Penetration' is the superior song - a fiddle through pop's forgotten back pages (East 17's 'Deep' and The Village People's 'Go West' both get a mention) before a female singer makes her needs clear - "I need seven and a half inches/I need deep penetration". Well, if you don't ask, you don't get. As Crack Village say elsewhere in the song, "It could never be as boring as The Stereophonics." Respect. Crack Village are the kind of act Damon Albarn would love to muscle in on. Self-deprecating and stylish, this is hip-hop with ethnicity and melody- it may just shake some life into the scene before it dies of taking itself way too seriously. Crack Village come from Wales, London, Essex, Birmingham, and lots of other places. They are Akira, Kool Kid Fresh, P$, Baby Bo and DJ Slepton. They are the first family of the New Breed Crew, who feature among their members Chilly Gonzales, Mothboy, Matrioshka, and lots of other fools, whom only time shall reveal.
"A hip hop act as clever, funny and sexually charged as Gonzales..." NME
(Deep Penetration is) one of the most attention grabbing tunes of recent times. We like this. Jockey Slut
Comedy hip-hop carnage. The Guardian
Barely legal boy on girl actionThey saw the future of rock n roll in a post millennium comedown and turned themselves into it. Dazed And Confused
Punk Rock Digital Hip-hop the fucking future. The Face
In their uniquely perverse way, Crack Village - despite their OTT live spectacles involving masks, horns and crucifixion - are realer than a thousand ultra-sincere folk bores. They are the spectacle that mocks itself in order to expose a myriad of targets. PlayLouder

Jon The Dentist "Alcohol" Released 11.11.02 Cat No.UPRISING03
Jon The Dentist returns with another monster trance anthem thats once again one the hearts of club land and DJs alike. Electric Tease "The Python Song" Released 11.11.02 Cat No.AUTO36
Following his recent participation in a string of successful production projects including Paris & Healey on Plastic Fantastic and Slide Vs Healey on Fire, Electric Tease returns with another genre-busting marathon of deep driving beats and sultry vocals. The strangely familiar lyrics are borrowed from The Jungle Books Python Song, sung by Kaa to hypnotise Mowgli. Here, Tim Healey has fused the same mesmerising vocal with atmospheric rhythms and dark melodies to create this spell-binding masterpiece. Featuring vocals from Natacha, The Python Song creeps under your skin while the bassline penetrates your brain as slowly and surely your senses will cease to resist!! On the flip Electric Teases redub is a banging 4 to the floor groover with dubbed out fx and minimalist use of the vocal which will appeal to the DJs and dancefloors that like their music tough and twisted. 'The Python Song' is yet another stunningly produced piece of music that has bags of anthemic potential and further confirms Electric Teases position as one of the hottest producers on the block.

Guy Octance "Open Your Mind" Released 11.11.02 Cat No.VAC10
Vacuum returns with yet another storming release in the unmistakable style of Guy Octane (Ingo.) This time it's backed up with a firin' remix from the UK's leading light on the hard trance scene, Honeypot's Jon Doe! The original opens with a firm kick, cool fx and tight percussion that builds and builds. A rolling bassline and warped synth are added before introducing the vocal and teasing in the main riff. Exploding out of the stylish breakdown, all the sounds are fused together for the ultimate hands in the air results. This should certainly open a few minds. From the outset, the remix has all the hallmarks of an epic. The vocal is introduced early on along with the original riff, atmospheric fx and a heavy kick, leading into a German influenced middle section. The second break has more spacey fx and another blast of the main riff which reaches the peak of euphoria as it roars into the drop - Jon Doe at his best. With support from all the right people, this one is set to further cement Vacuums reputation as a major player in the hard dance scene.
|
Ilogik "Insomniacz" Released 11.11.02 Cat No.EM016
Ilogik returns with what was probably the biggest track he ever made. The original caught the attention of every major jock and publication alike. Ilogik supplies his own remake here to full, devastating effect. Much harder than the original and more menacing. This has more quirky little effects in it than the original and bounds along at an incredible pace. The Mark Kavanagh mix is slightly slower but manages to keep the raw elements of the original while adding a trademark break beat breakdown, for which the Irish wonder is famed for. All in all both mixes are sure fire winners.
|
Intrigue "Latin Nights" Released 11.11.02 Cat No.NEBT030
Nebula responsible for big chart crossover dance tracks from the likes of DJ Tiësto and 4 Strings, the label has a strong fan base and now a good retail presence from a top 15 and two top 20 hits this year. Also a really strong underground trance following. Produced by Francois Louvers resident at Holland's biggest club Time Out and a veteran producer of over 30 releases and remixes from Tall Paul to Toni De Bart. Dutch artists Motivation are the originators of the Dutch 'funky trance' sound. Timecode is their alter ego on a darker tip. Licensed to Cream's 'Future Trance'

Invincible "My Mind" Released 11.11.02 Cat No.FRK015
Hot from the icey depths of Sweden comes yet another solid debut on Freakaboom, this time from two producers who have already established themselves as a breakbeat force to be reckoned with. Tommy Stisch and Johan O have, until now, been more widely recognised from their work with the amazing Sound Of Habib label, but that could all be about to change. 'My Mind is a stunning piece of vocal breakbeat that swings smoothly from its moody intro to full force with ease. On remix duties for this mission come label founder and owner, Databass (Justin Owen) with his new techier sound which has been developed after months of playing across Europe and holding down the dawn raids on Breaks FM. A tough mechanised beat carries a funky bassline along the edge of many styles of breaks without losing sight of the original vibe. Switchshift steps up next with his trademark, smooth as silk and funky as fuck style. From making his production debut on Freakaboom a couple of years ago to his current status as a favourite of people like Danny McMillan, Tayo and others, this fella has come a long way. As always, this release will make some welcome new friends and turn some surprised heads.
One of the most accessible releases to date a true masterpiece DJ Magazine

DJ Misjah "At The Bar" Released 11.11.02 Cat No.BL056
Bellboy are home to producers including Vegas Soul, Frankie Bones and 808 State. The label was the brainchild of Aberdeens ubiquitous Chris Cowie, one of the most talented and hardest working artists in the UK dance music industry. Originally formed in 1992 in Scotlands Granite City. Chris found himself re-launching on his own about a year later. Bellboy concentrated on doing likewise within the house and techno sphere. In parallel with the London-spawned tech-house scene, releases from the likes of Chris Cowies Vegas Soul project pursued a uniquely identifiable sound that combined the steely edge of techno with the warmth and emotional subtlety of deep house. This release is by DJ Misjah, probably best known for his hugely successful Access on X Trax, and has produced a string of classics to date including Trippin, The Club, Special Acid Edition and many more. At The Bar EP is Misjahs debut single for Bellboy Records. Undoubtedly one of Europes most underated DJ/Producers, Misjah delivers a unique 4 tracker of unequalled hip swinging moody tech-house floor fillers. DJ Misjahs first outing for the Bellboy label At The Bar EP will find a home in many a DJs box. Its funky, techy, housey all rolled into 1 perfectly round shiny 12.

|
Wok Institute "Libertina" Released 11.11.02 Cat No.HUSSY012
Libertina is the first original release from Wok Institute and every mix oozes class. The highlight of this tune is without doubt the haunting vocals of Sydney's Morika Elek. Reflective and dramatic, the original mix is an ambient track with an abundance of layers, creating a vast melodic soundscape. The 'Wok The Fuk' mix adds a 4/4 kick for a brilliant and epic progressive houser, characterised by addictively rhythmic percussion. The 'Tonemeister' mix is a more uptempo breaks interpretation while the 'Rub-A-Dub' is a dirty, tribal version perfect for early morning Tenaglia-esque dance floors. Wok Institute have recently remixed Banda Sonora's 'Guittara G' to great acclaim as well as 'One Day' by Den Hetrix & Galliard, soon to be released on Subliminal Records and MOS. Locally, Wok Institute have been busy remixing The Rockmelons and Scott Cain.
|
De Loren & Colors "Nanga" Released 11.11.02 Cat No.SP008

|
Tszpun "Lost Language" Released 11.11.02 Cat No.MNR043
Hailing from Hong Kong, Musicnow is very proud to introduce Tszpun as part of the Musicnow family. 'Lost Language' is his debut single and showcases some seriously polished production skills from across the globe. This exotic track rumbles along with a brooding bassline and eerie primordial chants that build into a twisted frenzy. In fact, it has already caught the attention of some high profile DJs, such as Chris Fortier, who featured it on the latest and highly acclaimed Bedrock compilation. On the flip, 'Solar System' takes a slightly more relaxed journey through a dark percussive audio landscape, pausing briefly for an alien-sounding encounter before resuming its ethereal trip. We recommend that you keep your eyes open for more excellent releases from this impressive talent, but well let his tunes do the talking.
|
Kings Of The Underground "I'll Be There" Released 11.11.02 Cat No.BM804
As Ron Carroll puts the finishing touches to his first full-length album, here comes the fourth installment in the Body Music legacy, Kings Of The Underground. Ron features on one side and his trusted engineer Josh Collins on the other. Side One offers up 'Ill Be There'. Beginning with an intro that balances on the techy/detroit tip, this track rounds out with Ron on vocals and with the perfect delay applied for maximum sonic delirium. This is a proper prime time club anthem and is vital, main room house music. The flip, 'Feed Back Melodica' featuring Josh Collins is another techy venture made for long mixing and wouldnt be out of place on Derrick Mays Transmat imprint. With its rat-a-tat percussion and filtered loop that fades in slowly for maximum effect as its foundation, the real kicker is the guitar-like synths that wash over the track like a delicate tidal wave. Ron and Josh deliver and are, in fact Kings Of The Underground. This is Body Music to the extreme and this is the future. Tomorrow is here!
