OD404
"Satellite Navigation"

Released 5.8.02
Cat No.KTI022

The Kaktai steam train continues to pick up pace as OD404 join forces with the No1 Irish jock, Mark Kavanagh. Both tracks see the label take a new twist, possibly from the Irishmans influence. Satalite Navigation has all the usual trademark OD404 quirky stabs and funkier bass lines, but also includes a big trance element. The lead riff is full of effects making it stand out amongst the crowd and it certainly does the dynamic duo no harm. On the B side we have Boomerang and again this is something fresh and unique. Starting with an almost breakbeat pattern, full of stabs and hip hop vocals, before a more solid kick drum and percussion lead pattern. Again, the riff has a trance element as well as some of the stabs and the break beat patterns are re-occuring throughout. These two tracks certainly take you on a journey and navigate you through the ever evolving hard house scene. Once more Kaktai lead the charge.

Drax & Scott Mac
"Angel"

Released 5.8.02
Cat No.BLH144

New outing from Drax & Scott Mac. Scott has previously released tracks on Black Hole in combination with UXB (Profile). Remixer Magik Muzik is related to Tiëstos label. 'Angel' is a melodic trance song with dreamy vocals, and has been on Tiëstos playlist for quite a while. The dreamy atmosphere of the song combined with the spheric chords make this tune a winner. A side is the Magik Muzik remix (Tiësto) and on the other side a remix of the original has been done by the producers.

A.I.
"Blue Harvest"

Released 5.8.02
Cat No.CODE17

More focus on the deeper side of the Global Underground sound will leave more room for stable mate Quad Communications to run a more open minded musical policy. A.I. is the brainchild of James Niche, founder of the rising Niche Records stable, home to Niche, Niche Blue and soon Niche Red. Alongside production partner Clark Lipsham (CTRL) he has provided Coded with their latest signing, steering away from bog standard, stripped down DJ fodder that seems to be circulating all over at present. Blue Harvest is a strong underground tech-progressive record, currently getting solid support from Steve Lawler and Hernan Cattaneo. On the flip, James and Clark deliver a more progressive mix under their Tomorrow People moniker.

Bassetti
"Hour Glass"

Released 5.8.02
Cat No.CHG004

Florida producer Bassettis first major release, Ganymede, came in 2001 on Tim Skinner & Barry Robbs Grounded Music. Callisto and Amalthea, his next releases on Progress Inn (a sub-label of Tune Inn) got top reviews in M8, DJ, and Mixer. Here, Bassetti checks in with a new production, Hour Glass. Crisp beats, heavy percussion, short stabs, hypnotic male vocals and piercing atmospheric sweeps are the foundation upon which the track is created. Perfectly timed releases of bass and energy conjure up the right mood for a build up of harder sound that usually follows in a night. For the remix, Philip Jason, a.k.a. JAS and CHONGA, may have created one of the most original bass-lines of 2002. The "L+L SITTING IN A TREE K-I-S-S-I-N-G RMX" has driving rhythm and tech-based hi-hats richly toned with perfect synths.

Guzman & Karlos
"Dakkar"

Released 5.8.02
Cat No.FLR038

Karlos Elizondo (one half of Ritmo) is Mexicos equivalent of Sasha - a top DJ with his own sound, often emulated but rarely surpassed. Karlos teams up with Mexicos Luis Guzman (Antahkarana) to bring you Dakkar a tune of massive proportions. Remixers Evolution are riding the crest of a wave at the moment with the release of Walking on Fire and the sought after remixes of Western Approaches and Origins Killing Me. Walking on Fire is one of the biggest tunes of the year. With the release of Evolutions first album on Nettwerk in America and EMI in Australia this year is set to be a big one. The original mix leads off with twisted, echoing vocals and a solid kick subtly building the energy of the track using analogue stabs and a fierce synthetic rip as the hook is added - dark and long is the issue here. Hypnotic drums and bass lead you on a journey through psychedelic landscapes of sound. When the break hits it will take your floor through the roof in a sea of white noise heaven, only to hit back with a devastating groove that gets you locked and loaded and begging for more.

Joy Kiticonti
"Joy Don't Stop"

Released 5.8.02
Cat No.BXRP0438

Joy Kitikonti is from the BXR stable in Italy and a reknowned DJ / producer across Europe who turned more than a few heads last summer with his Joyenergizer track. He regularly spins at clubs like Slinky, Godskitchen, Inside Out, RATT and The Gallery and will be appearing at Godskitchen Global Gathering this summer. He is also resident in Ibiza for Godskitchen. Here Joy releases his second solo outing on BXR UK with the follow up to the European wide summer 2001 smash Joy Energizer. Absolutely storming anthemic hard dance from the mind of one of the most popular DJ / producer in Europe and already one of Judge Jules favorite records this summer. The Freaky Mix features a great lead guitar riff and has been supported on Judge Jules Radio 1 show with the coveted Tried and tested and Judge for Yourself plays. The Asteroids mix is the most commercial mix on the 12 and is a great crossover track for any DJ to play. The Joyenergizer mix features a deeper techno track and all three mixes have the classic Whoop Whoop sound that made Joyenergizer become the summer smash last year. An excellent follow up with great crossover potential.

Red Moon
"Love You Long Time"

Released 5.8.02
Cat No.SS011

Red Moon are Tony Thomas and Roger Watson. Tony Thomas has been releasing underground dance music for the past 10 years under many different guises: Rephlektor, Dan Soden, Glasswalker, DJ Toxic, Nebula 2, Psyclan, Arcana, and Sitric on various quality labels: Soma, The End Recordings, Tango USA, etc. When not working on the Red Moon project with Roger, he also works with Alan Barratt as The Producers (think 'Flying The Funky Path' on The End, and their LP 'Positive Influence' on Creative, as well as releases on their own labels - New Era and Society). With another 12 singles set for release in 2002 already, another single and an album for Soma, 2 singles about to drop on Tango USA, a remix of 16B 'The Game' on Hooj Choons, a remix of Audio Soul Project 'Native Method' on NRK, and much much more in the pipeline, 2002 looks like being yet another prolific year for Tony Thomas. Roger Watson (aka DJ Hal) works as part of the "international people's gang", promoting and producing dance music from the Elbow Rooms to The Bomb, in his home town of Nottingham. He has also worked with San Fransisco's Hardkiss / Sunburn crew, bringing them over to the UK for a comprehensive tour. During this time he developed his production skills whilst working on remixes with Hawke (Gavin Hardkiss). As DJ Hal, he has a Friday night residency at Bluu in Nottingham and also plays regularly for promoter James Baillie at The Bomb, including slots at Craig Richards and Lee Burridge's Tyrant parties. Roger is also currently releasing solo music on the Surround Sounds and 10 Kilo labels, using his DJ Hal moniker plus a release on Niche ('Basslines In Boxes EP'). The essence of the Red Moon sound is the layering of gritty percussion to create perfect organic rhythms that draw you in, spin you round, hypnotize you, and gently let you down when it's all over, with the intermittent use of vocals deepening the whole experience.

Source Of Gravity
"Fusion"

Released 5.8.02
Cat No.MECH009

Source of Gravity have been busy writing tracks for their two labels Gravitation and Source of Gravity. DJ support for their releases has been across the Progressive board. Recently the guys have been signing their productions out and have forthcoming releases on other progressive labels including Baroque and Flammable. The A side, 'Fusion' is quite a housey number: a little different than usual for the label. A summer feel is created with the arrangement of the pads and little Deep Down vocal samples. The percussion is tight with a techy hi-hat pattern leading the way. The track takes quite a different angle half way through, with a new pad changing the key and taking the whole arrangement up a gear.serious dancefloor grooves! The AA side, 'Cydonia', is the kind of thing you would hear early on at nights like Headstart or even in a Moonface set at Bedrock: chunky but deep and techy also. Tech-style percussion and a big sub-bassline are the key elements of the groove. 4 minutes into the track a hook is introduced that makes the track really step up a gear. This, coupled with some really twisted fills and stabs, sets the tone for the second half of the tracktwisted madness for sure.
