Base Graffiti "Smash & Grab" Released 15.7.02 Cat No.KTI021
Base Graffiti have enjoyed success on Tripoli Trax, Casa Dura and now add their imprint to Kaktai. The original mix is full of funk hard house and it's a well thought out piece of music. Everything has been arranged in such a clever way that you do not realize the amount of sounds that are actually being used until you really, really listen. This track chugs along at a slower pace to the usual stomping beats and is refreshing to hear. On the flip, Kaktai have enlisted the help of man of the moment, Paul Glazby to add his magic touch and he certainly doesnt disappoint. From start to finish this is nothing but brutal, hard, underground and driving. Glazby uses all the main elements of the original and fuses them into something that sounds completely different.

This is his 3rd release on his own label Private Reality and his follow up to the superb Coppola. Mass on the A side is a beautiful melodic piece of house music with strings that wash perfectly over you. Broadband is a deeper tech house track that will get hammered earlier on in sets. Mark is also about to release Slightly Forward on Saw Recordings under his Akodoma alias and with another 2 singles scheduled for release on Private Reality, 2002 should be the year he finally receives the recognition he deserves.

Equinok "Immure" Released 15.7.02 Cat No.TZT003
When Immure was originally released two years ago the label were contacted on the day of release by the Ministry of Sound to license it for the forthcoming Heavy Duty compilation. It quickly gained popularity with DJs and clubbers and due to constant harassment from people offering to swap their gran for a copy, the label thought they would re-release it. The original mix grinds along at relenting pace and stamina. Hard and uncompromising makes this a crowd pleaser every time and the euphoric trance riff is simply unforgettable. The remix continues in a similar vein, but with added effects and stabs.

Sidewalk Technician "Watch This" Released 15.7.02 Cat No.BLH142
'Watch This' is certainly an appropriate title for this track. Scott Mac has had may successful releases to his name. Here, he checks in with a clubby, tech-house track which always gets great feedback from the audience when played in the clubs as the song is inspired by Andre Michelles A-2, released a couple of years ago. With two strong remixes from: DJ Montana (fast rising Dutch techno / techhouse DJ responsible for Bride in the Park & Jazzmin) and Mac Zimms (famous for his releases on BPM), this track definitely guarantees a screaming crowd, begging for more.

D'Julz "Acid Tracks" Released 15.7.02 Cat No.OVUM146
Known for diversity and quality, Ovum has released groundbreaking records by Wink, Supernatural, King Britt, Pete Moss and more. DJulz is a world-renowned DJ and an up & coming producer, with releases on 20:20 Vision and Maya (with Joeski). On the A-side, DJulz smacks it down with this bleepy bouncing tune that features acid loopiness at its best. The omnipotent male vocal exalts the 808, inspiring all the clubbers to join in the tweeky debauchery. The tracks tight and clean production guarantees to slam the bass in the club making it a sure fire anthem. The driving, big club sound of the the B-side shows that Acid Tricks is even better the second time around, now under the skillful manipulation of Marino Berardi. A more techy, less acidic track, with echoing bells that provide a bubbling buildup thats as ascerbic as it is relentless. The track is already licensed to DJulz Boxes Mix CD on React and Underwater Episode 1.

The Aircash Bureau "Don't Expect Me (To Forgive Me)" Released 15.7.02 Cat No.VSUAL02
The original mix is a dark, pulsating beauty. It opens with catchy analogue stabs and develops with tight beats into a gentle vocal sample and an underlying riff. Remixers, Sebastian Mullaert and Marcus Henriksson, who live and thrive in the city of Malmoe in southern Sweden, are by no means newcomers on the electronic dancemusic scene. They have for 5 years produced and released on most major trance labels under the name Son Kite. Their first album, released in December 1999, marked a new era for trance / psytrance with a much deeper and progressive view on what underground dancefloors should shake their asses to. Since then there has been a constant development regarding both sound and production which has resulted in an international acknowledgement and the title 'innovative' has been a trademark. Here, Minilogue deliver a monstrous peaktime mix on the flip, with their trademark percussion0-led beats, pounding bassdrum and tom combos and a growling sub bass line. It builds beautifully into the main break, a floating, twisting, analogue arp, accompanied by the vocal and lead riff and then wham, back down to earth with the pounding finish. Dont Expect Me.. is licensed to ANDY JARRODS EXTREMA 2002 compilation.

Psyclone "Good Side" Released 15.7.02 Cat No.TIDY173T
Good side is a very strong interpretation of todays sound of hard house and who better than to to remix it than the heavy weight and future champion of our genre: Andy Farley and Guyver. Andy Farley dishes out one of his best remixes in ages with a dark and dangerous journey using strong percussion, pumpin kicks and a riff that makes this mix one of the most evil things you have ever heard. On the flip we have Guyver; who is actually Guy Mearns from the Riot Bros. He serves up his version German style using quirky leads and cuts and at the same time using the vocal to great effect before that riff comes in and finishes you off! All in all another solid release for Tidy. Judge for yourself!

The man behind the explosion of hard trance onto the scene makes his debut performance for Fevah. Reynolds' previous exploits include numerous collaborations with Nick Sentience and Mark Richardson for Nukleuz and with Steve Blake for Tripoli Trax and Impact. Phil has single handedly pioneered this sound from his now world-renowned residency at Frantic and all over the world. The two tracks featured are actually a tribute to a friend of his for his legendary house parties at the end of the weekend. Both are what you come to expect from someone at the forefront of his scene. 'Crackin On' is a full on energetic number with whispery trance riffs to leave you in a daze. You can expect the same well produced beats and rhythms as previous releases but the label thinks this release will outshine all before. However, you aint heard nothing till you flip it over and check out what truly is a stunning remix from breaks pioneer Dylan Rhymes. OTR keep up the run of quality releases with this tasty hard trance classic. DJ Harry is the alter ego of DJ Garry, the man behind the huge remix of Something About You by The Act, one of the biggest tracks of the last few years, and the recent massive chart hit Dream Universe. This track updates the sound he created in his Something About You remix to work on todays most demanding dancefloors. The production quality is fantastic, as you would expect from one of Belgiums leading producers. The individual elements come in one by one to gradually build up the excitement, until the break where the sharp trance riff builds and builds until it drops into an earthshaking bass that will rock any dancefloor to its foundations. Juniors been on a bit of a roll recently to say the least! Following this, Junior was honoured by Kevin Saundersons awesome E-Dancer mix of last years anthem: Dirty Dirty. The techno bandwagon continues with another track that has once again blown up into a monster Foremost Poets Moonraker. Please do not be alarmed. indeed! Motive "Please Don't" Released 15.7.02 Cat No.V0006
Viscous is on the up following the release of Sean Cusicks Consider the Raven featured on Dave Seamans GU compilation. V006 is a housier tune, moving away from the deep and dark sound to a sunnier, summer vibe. Having joined forces in 2000 to create Motive, Tom Anderson and Mark Hunt have brought a wealth of experience to the fore in collaborating on this standout Florida project. Mark has already infiltrated your ears with 'Over and Out', which was featured on John Digweeds Bedrock mix album. Building on their first release as Motive titled Inner Depth featured on Jerry Bonhams Spundae mix CD in 2001, Motive now deliver their debut offering on Viscous. Please Dont leads off with a funky bass line and a swirling drum loop that weaves between vocal stabs and percussive samples. The track builds using soulful vocals, quirky samples and reverberating synths. A wicked summer-sounding house track effective on any dance floor. Not Without Your Love is an eclectic style tune, ideal for summer terraces and Tenaglia style sets - a uniquely structured track with a definitive groove. Trippy vocals lead the tune into a lyrical breakdown. The song kicks back in to a housey groove with a dirty bassline and a psychedelic edge. Two very unique tracks and an impressive first outing for Motive.

Formidable Force "A Funky Space" Released 15.7.02 Cat No.VIS076
Formidable Force consists of two producers one of which you probably won't have come across before and another you undoubtedly will. The legendary former Back to Basics resident and Floridian ex-pat - 'Huggy' got his DJing break when he warmed up for Marshall Jefferson during the late '80's seminal Chicago Trax tour. Huggy was first in line as resident for the start of Leeds internationally renowned techno mecca, The Orbit before Dave Beer wisely headhunted Huggy to play alongside a young Ralph Lawson for the rapidly growing B2B - the rest, as they say, is history. Huggy's early studio experience resulted in a number of co-productions with Ralph Lawson - the pair, recording under the Wulf & Bear alias kickstarted the 20:20 Vision label with the awesome Spacegroover. Huggy has also recorded as Urban Farmers, The Huggy Factor and The Unlikely Lads for the cause. Formidable Force is his new project based in Florida with new partner Dave 'Atnarko' Ross - an Orlando based DJ and producer. Dave established himself as resident at The Ultraviolet club before establishing his own label, Rhythm Flow, as an outlet for his productions. Chris Fortier's Fade label, Niche and Tune Inn have all also released Dave's work. A Funky Space is a stunning house cut with a terrific crunchy feel to the production. Lashings of bass and distorted vocals, located deep within the mix, lend further appeal. A tough dub and some handy beats are included on the flip for those who favour a more hands-on approach to their DJing. Already used by X-Press 2 to start the dance at their Muzikizum London launch party at Cargo and being worked out by Mazi, Duriez, Onionz, The 6400 crew and Garth in San Fran.
